By the time it comes out in the US and especially Europe, PS3 will effectively be dead. Now I can play it fine on my PS3, but cross gen at least would make more sense

Well you didnt say your rumor was about P5 being cross gen, just PS4. Anyways, P5 will likely be on another platform later on.
Japanese sales of the PS4 will not be great unless Sony moneyhats some Japanese games. The support will determine all the sales it gets, otherwise its going to be another Vita/Wii U situation. Japan like last gen, will have troubles moving to a newer gen, unless there is a big push from someone like Sony Japan will linger on between 2 gens for a very long time.
As far as Japan goes, I believe it was roughly 1 year for SMT IV.
Just like Persona 4.
Ruby is the best name, though Crimson would be pretty sweet too.

I doubt they will keep with the theme of metals or jewels/gems. This isn't Pokemon. It could just be related to red somehow...
Crimson or something like P5 Bloodsomethingorother would be neat.

I like Crimson but maybe they'll do something along the lines of Fes and not have the name relate to the color. Either way, I just want P5 and I want it soon!

Hopefully in at least a week I would say. They did spend a lot to make all these announcements. I don't expect too much within the next few days.

I'm shocked we didn't get something a little bit..... more than what we got.
Scarlet or Rouge is a better fit. But it's better if it's more related to the theme of the series.

GC had these "heavy hitters" it did nothing. It doesn't matter if WiiU gets MK, SSB etc i needs a steady release schedule of software and with JP third parties avoiding the system like the plague thats not going to happen.

I'm thinking it'll be related on our online personas and being a slave to social networks and the always connected mentality. Phones as the new Persona activation tools and we get midnight status updates this go around.
PS3 is nowhere near as big as PS2 was. Early PS3's were also backwards compatible. If PS4 had BC, I wouldn't be asking for any cross gen games.
Like I said I'll still play on PS3. Just a bit disappointing
What I don't get is a fighting game, based on Persona 4, was released on the 360. But the long awaited sequel to the mainline series doesn't get a 360 release? Makes no sense in hindsight.
Of course, and i don't want them to cancel the PS3 version, but they should also make a PS4 port.
I think it's safe to say that JRPG fans in the west are more core gamers than casuals, and therefore a lot of the potential buyers will have a PS4 in 1 - 2 years when it will be out in the West. You can't expect them all to keep their PS3.

I'm mildly annoyed that they are using red again as the main color scheme when it has already been used previously. I really liked that each game has it's own signature color.
I wonder if that's a good or bad idea

Gotta say i'm excited the tease alone seems to imply they are going back to a bit of a darker tone like with Persona 3. Which i'm glad for. Love persona 4 but just felt story wise P3 mopped the floor with it. For me the atmosphere had a lot to do with it to.
