Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth announced for 3DS (p3/p4/chibi spinoff, EO-ish)

Man, I can't wait for this. There's a likely chance that this will be the first game released across all the games that were shown off today.

Speedy localization required.

It is not a continuation of the P3/P4 storyline, it is a silly little spin-off.

So an alternate world dissidia like fan-service bit of BS? They'd better announce persona 5 in the next 24 hours or else I'm going crazy.

Edit: Oh wait. There's a persona 5 thread. Call off the riot.

I'm sure there are those who'd like Atlus to remake the same two PS2 games ad infinitum, but for me this sounds far better

a new game, with a new story, and a new gameplay style. As for the artsyle, it doesn't seem to have hutd bravely default so i doubt it'll hurt this

I'm really surprised at all of the disappointment towards this. We got Persona 5, so everything else is just a bonus. Not to mention I don't see anything inherently wrong with the title in the first place. The fact that it's being made by the Etrian Odyssey guy is only a good thing. The gameplay will probably even be better than it is in Persona.

I... Kinda like how it looks =/

Really surprised at the backslash in this thread. EO is a beloved franchise, dungeon crawlers aren't that common, and we're getting Persona 5 anyway. Why the hate?

we got people shitting on EO's gameplay. Shit is just inexcusable.
I'm only shitting on the perspective and visuals. The 3DS can easily handle P3 and P4, why the first person perspective and only cuts to characters in battle? Why the chibi artstyle?

I'd only really start shitting on the gameplay if there's any of that cartography crap in here.

People have different tastes. There is no such hate, at least for my part.

Reading this thread after all of the announcements happened is funny (and makes me kind of glad I slept through that shitstorm).

The only people I could see doing this and having a legit complaint are old-school Wizardry players, and that series is so archaic a bit of streamlining is probably for the best. :p

Budget concerns maybe? This isn't Persona 5 afterall but a fanservice-y spinoff. Though I don't mind the visuals....and I love first person dungeon crawlers so I'm good.

Nice, a Persona UI DLC for Etrian Odyssey.

I love it

Some articles with more details.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth will be taking place in Yasogami High School, the same school of Persona 4, where a mysterious tower appears out of nowhere. According to the rumors, whoever hears the bell will face death.

In Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, you’ll be exploring a labyrinth with a five-man party of different chibi-style Persona 3 and Persona 4 characters.

There will also be new characters who’ll be making a debut to the series in the game. Additionally, there will also be various school events, where all the characters will be seen interacting with each other.

The game will be produced by Katsura Hashino, and directed by Daisuke Kanada. The character designs will be done by Shigenori Soejima, and music composed by Shoji Meguro, just like the main Persona RPG series.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is slated for release on June 5th, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.

Depending on whether you pick Persona 3’s SEES crew or Persona 4’s Investigation Team to play as, you’ll see dialogue and event changes with more of a focus on one or the other. Persona Q is being directed by Daisuke Kaneda of the Etrian Odyssey series.

Persona character designer Shigenori Soejima will be providing character designs for the game, while series composer Shoji Meguro will handle the music. Meanwhile, Persona series director Katsura Hashino will serve in the role of producer.

During the Yasogami High School culture festival, a clock tower appears in the school yard and the heroes of Persona 4 hear the echo of a ringing bell. The sound of that bell reaches the world of Persona 3, and its heroes, who were fighting Tartarus, are suddenly transported to Yasogami High School and trapped.

To return to their original worlds, the characters from Persona 4 and Persona 3 must try to get back the lost memories of new characters Zen and Rei, who seem to hold the key to this incident, and go dungeon-crawling to fight shadows.

Players can become Persona 3‘s Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad or Persona 4‘s Investigation Team. Depending on which you choose, the dialogue changes, and the events with characters from that game will be depicted in more detail.

The game adopts an Etrian Odyssey-like command-based battle system. Being led by the same director, it also has a focus on dungeon crawling.

The game’s key staff inclues Katsura Hashino (Chief Producer), Daisuke Kaneda (Director), Shigenori Soejima (Character Design), and Shoji Meguro (Composer).

So does this help confirm that hacked Miiverse picture from launch?
No?

Aw looks pretty fun to me. It's exploiting my fangirl heart by putting all the characters from 3 and 4 alive and well into one game. Even if it sucks I still want it.

As long as it's going for fanservice-y non-canon, they better put FeMC in it then!!!!

A good EO game with the Persona team's UI look and art style would be amazing. I love the EO games but I have always hated how they look, both in terms of character design and the dungeons in general.

Hmmm yes if there's one thing the EO team is bad at, it's making video games.

I think it's super misleading the way they keep listing soejima as the character designer.

Those details sound good. I'll roll with SEES.

One of the reasons, yes. Can't believe they got the EO team to do a persona spinoff, I'm sure Team maniax could have whipped together something amazing. Why get the EO team to do it?
EO team is F-tier, how?
