Hi guys,

My game now has Leaderboards and Achievements. And a free ad-supported version (which is new since my last posting in here I think).

Game name is: Strange Matter.

It's a somewhat unique tilt-based shooter, with a bit of an old school difficulty ramp mentality, which I think fits the leaderboards really well now, so I'm excited about that.

That's all for now. (Next update may have a multiplayer mode, but no promises).

There is no "premium version" to unlock though. It would be easier to create a completely separate app (which then introduces new issues).

The third party ads already turn off with any IAP purchase though.

I guess you could get closer with an additional "disable timers" purchase or something.

While on the subject of y'all's work, is there an update in the works for Flick Kick Football? The formatting is off on the iPad Air. The content on the screen is shifted around. While playing, you can't see the timer and the menu is broken. I bought it way back and spent some on IAP. Would love to be able to play it again soon.

We are in the process of getting hold of new devices and checking through our back catalogue against those and OS7 (quite an extensive task).

Not sure specifically where FKF sits in the scheme of things given it is quite old tech now which makes it hard to update and resourcing is scarce, but we have a lot of players on it (and the free version) still so its a priority title for critical updates.

Anyone recommend some really beautiful games that run at full resolution on the iPad Air? Because, contrary to the thread title, a lot of games I have tried are indeed upscaled.

Tiny Death Star running out of quests before you've even built all the imperial levels?

Final straw for me to stop playing. I even built another imperial to see if it'd unlock more quests... nope. That's some major bullshit right there.

Same thing happened to me but then a little while later a lot more quests suddenly became available. Didn't know what triggered them coming back but I remember checking and suddenly there were more there. Might be the case for you too.

What the hell, wasn't this a $10 Wii game back in the day?

No, it was a $30 WiiWare game. It was $10 if you only bought the base games and none of the other character tales, which are more or less essential. Then it was released on PSP along with FF IV for a bit more than that, and now it's on iOS as a standalone release for a little more than half of what it was before.

It is relatively expensive, but square ios games are my "I got an itunes voucher for christmas what am I supposed to spend $50 on?" pickups.

That worth being interested in at all? I seem to remember at the time impressions for the PSP FF4 game which included this saying it wasn't terribly interesting.

It's actually a remake entirely of the After Years thing. Both the WiiWare and PSP versions were 2D, like the original SNES version. This is making that look like the 3D DS remakes.

Anyone else playing Konami's latest game Star Wars Force Collection?

It's pretty fun... but could be better. Feels like a ton of lost potential and people using Star Wars for jokes and money as usual. It's a free card game on the other hand.

I'm new to mobile/ios gaming btw. Just got an iPhone
4
.

Thanks for the insight coming from the proverbial horse's mouth, Mario. Even though I personally don't like the IAP model a lot of games practice, at the end of the day game development is a business with the goal to make money.

I think that IAP itself is a throw back to coin-funded arcades, which were the original microtransaction games. All the industry has really done is come full circle in regard to games and how people play and pay for them. The only real difference now is accessibility.

Also curious about that one!

Is it better??

Well, I didn't like the Papa Sangre setting but it's just me, they are all very nice experiences.

The Nightjar is a really nice Alien-esque experience that I wish they expand a lot.
Play it at night in the dark with headphones...enjoy!!!

so galaxy on fire alliances is out in US now too. suppose to be clash of clans but space and with graphics.

hope they do a GoF3 someday, but will check this out.

Lone Wolf was good, if a bit on the short side. There's a decent amount of replayability, due to the choose-your-own adventure style. I've already started a brash, STR-based character for my 2nd time through. The stealthy, surprise attacker worked well.

The artwork is fantastic, especially in the game book portions. My only complaint in the art department is that they make your character look like a moody David Blaine when showing his face, pre-fights. That's not a good thing.

The combat was better than the reviews I read said it would be. It stayed tense and I never felt too overpowered.

It has me thinking of picking up the Sorcery! games.

This was released in September but it deserves way more attention, just discovered the game today:

Zombie Kill of the Week

screen320x320.jpeg

Don't overlook this just because it's free and zombies. I wasn't expecting much, but damn is this game fun! Excellent controls and an excellent 2D version of Black Ops zombies, with tons of customization, weapons, perks, etc.

It's freemium but not the abusive kind. Anything you unlock while playing is unlocks from the money earned while playing, and stuff like perks, clothing, turrets are bought with a single currency that's accumulated through leveling up and earning trophies. The levels are big too; I'm still on the first one and still haven't fully explored it after five games. The weapons are satisfying to use and the game is just fun

Some of the prices are kind of high, but the gameplay is fun enough that I don't find it that grindy. Really the game is a lot better than I expected

Yeah... I loved GoF2, so I downloaded this thinking it's some kind of a strategy/4X spin-off. But once I noticed the clash-of-clan-esque mechanics I deleted it immediately. No thanks.

26 floors in Tiny Death Star, opened the app to check as usual and I had lost all my progress for some reason. It was fun while it lasted, I guess...

Apparently Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD is $4.99 in app-purchase right now. What's the verdict on that? Did they sort out the fullscreen thing?

Still no way to buy iAP without an iOS device right?

So which one is the most immersive? And scary?

Well I'm obviously biased but I liked more The NightJar.
I'm sure there are others who didn't mind the setting like me so they liked Papa Sangre more (the second one is their last installment, so it's the most recent game of the lot).

The NightJar is a very immersive experience even if a short one.
The first half is almost a tutorial, last parts are more 'gamey' (relatively speaking) with some levels absolutely stunning.

Mild spoilers about when the 'experience' is more a real game than just hearing:

The part when you have to walk around in the darkness in a big room where you are NOT alone and you must move away just using your hears is fantastic...feels like a FPS just with your ears, very immersive

Caved in and bought Oceanhorn only to realize it might go on sale for the holidays?

Oh well hope its worth it. I've been dying for a Zelda game after watching some WindWakerHD videos

Apparently Space Hulk will be out next week for iPad at 9.99.

Game didn't impress me at all when I saw it on PC (but I played for a very short time)...anyone who played the (patched several times I understand) PC version more that can endorse (or not) the purchase?

Well....between next friday sales and the 'before iTunes lockdown' sales it will be pure madness in the Appstore for a bit.
Game is doing pretty well in the charts...I do not think (hope) it will be discounted...or maybe it will be just not to lose the position for the very remunerative Christmas sales among the other 10000000000000000 discounted apps.
But it's the Appstore...you never know...be glad to have supported the devs :)

still windowed. not much they can do about it besides throwing a tacky border around it i guess. adding widescreen art would require too much work (and with how much effort they seemingly put into this not a chance).

Also, the framerate is terrible. One might think it doesn't make much of a difference, considering the kind of game that it is, but damn if it doesn't. Waiting for the green letters to appear when a new scenario is beginning is just awful. Not going to blow even $5 on this; learn to put effort into your offerings, Capcom.

No first hand experience but I have read the patches have improved the game on reddit.

Holy shit...GTA San Andreas on IOS...
Before GTAV took us to the sun-bleached sidewalks and humming concrete freeways of present-day Los Santos and beyond, there was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the biggest GTA of the PS2 era. Now, head back to the early 90s with CJ and the Grove Street Families when Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas comes to mobile devices next month.

Encompassing Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas also features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7. It will be available for select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile devices. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead.

Update Nov 25th #2: Claimed QuizUp Developer “Jokull” states via Hacker News ” In the off chance we cannot find an opponent (which is becoming very rare due to our popularity) you may be pitted against a bot as a fallback strategy. Matchmaking is a hard technical problem, and we have chosen to maximize gameplay experience and consistency”. Which confirms one of the few things I was not positive about when writing the original piece. For those readers who have asked, the developers still have not reached out for information on the issues I found or recommendations on how to fix them.

Funny how now that they're in the middle of a sensitive personal data issue, they are no longer trying to pretend they're "player recordings" or whatever they said.

My co-worker and I feel like playing some chess. Is there something better than dumb 'ol Zynga Chess With Friends? I used to play it and it was fine, but I'm just wondering if there's some other far superior multiplayer chess app. The app store doesn't make anything apparent, and neither does Google.

Man, I feel so confused about which one I should get :|

Can't believe I missed the 0,89€ price tag on both Nightjar AND Papa Sangre 2 :|

I like tChess Pro. It has lots of features, is universal and supports online play (turn based or real-time through Game Center). It does cost more than average though so if you're mainly just playing online it's probably not worth it. Then again, if you're only playing online there's probably no reason to get another chess app anyway (even though we all hate Zynga).

They did come back.. and then I finished a few.. then had one open but need 2 more parts.. stocked a few stores as I was building the part.. and.. No more quests again.

WTF.

Any OP additions of late November that I should add in? I've been a little out of it lately with work/nextgen launches and all that, leaving little time over for things other than slouching on the TV couch or sleeping.
