Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

It is indeed free on plus. You picked a perfect time to get a vita considering the offerings that will be available to you.
I don't know why people keep comparing Soul Sacrifice to Monster Hunter - they really are very different games to be honest and I don't think it is very fair to either game. They both give me different vibes and I like both of them very much but for different reasons.
It IS really good! It has fantastic art design, great soundtrack and an imaginative combat system. It is a bit like Monster Hunter in that you team up with dudes and do missions, but the combat system is way different. It is also much more fast paced.

Plus, you get mountains of content in this game if you want to finish everything. Loads of free DLC will keep you busy.
Good, thanks! I am convinced :)

I'm looking at the Vita version of Lego Marvel and holy shit did they make this using a DS kit?

Yes, although the game isn't half bad looking on an actual Vita.

I redeemed some dlc spells for Soul SCrifice today but they don't show in my download list. Anyone else have this happen? Also I'm a bit disappointed to only see 2 friends from my friends list got Ys.

Is that like the preorder dlc? If so try the peddler in-game: Librom-> Network-> Peddler-> Claim Gift.

argh. i can't decide whether to get
Tearaway NOW
+
Ys Celceta

both digital...
(I already got YS Celceta CE... but don't know whether to keep it or not)

Hey Vita-GAF!
I was just granted membership here and decided to say hello to this wonderful community here! I have been following this thread for a long time and good impressions from Vita-Users finally convinced me to buy a Vita (OG Model) a few weeks ago and I love it! Also bought a 64GB Memory Stick since I am currently staying in Japan for a limited time anyway and could go around importing it. Right now I am still playing all the games I got via PS+ but I am currently thinking about which games to buy in the near future. Games I already have on my list are Persona 4: Golden, Ys: MoC (once it comes out in EU), Tearaway and Muramasa Rebirth. Any other recommendations?

Oh and my Vita Friendslist is still very small, so please feel free to add me! :)

Welcome, and Dragons Crown would be an easy addition, a brawling dungeon crawler affair(doesn't really have a story though). Also, if you end up liking P4G every other persona game is also available for Vita(Though 1 and 2 are very different). I'd suggest P3P afterwards.

Now... to immediately buy or to wait for sales.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Also,

Wait, Takao is banned?? For whatever reason?

Ys C is $40, get any other stuff from US PSN worth $20 and you'll get $10 back in Mid December.
Do all this before 3rd December though.
Oh and in case you were under a rock for the past few hours and never bothered to, I assume, CHECK THE FREAKIN' US BLOG
Blog.us.playstation.com
The PSP Ys games are all 50% off Also Dragon's Crown and P4G are on sale again.

No offense btw.

Actually I thought about Dragons Crown as well but I am not sure whether I should buy the PS3 or the Vita Version (why can't it be Cross-Buy?) :(. I heard that the Vita Version is suffering from slowdowns?

P3P is also noted, thanks. :)

Port begging.

Woah? For what game? Persona?

As is all things in this world that must be, like river that must flow to the sea and the antarctic being freaking cold, so does the fact that Dragon's Crown and P4G on sales and I already bought them full price a long while ago.

A bit, but it's never to the point it's becoming unplayable. Everything else is the same with PS3, and that portability is a huge boon, don't you think? Especially since Vita players can now cross-play with PS3s.

Welcome to this little Vita haven.

You should consider buying:
Killzone
Dragon's Crown
Need for Speed
Virtua Tennis
Sound Shapes
Hotline Miami
Spelunky
Tales from Space Mutant Blobs Attack
Velocity Ultra
Wipeout (if you are European and didn't get it with PS+)
Guacamelee (if you don't get it with PS+)
Soul Sacrifice (if you don't get it with PS+)

The slowdowns aren't that bad. Sometimes the action can get a little bit overwhelming for the small Vita screen and couch coop is a big plus for the PS3 when you can get buddies to play it with you.
The Vita version has the portability and the touchscreen input for some things are superior to the right analog stick.

Thanks for the infos guys! Good to hear that the slowdowns aren't that bad. My decision will probably depend on whether I can get my buddies to play couch-coop. Or I'll just get both if I should find good prices for both versions :p

thanks for the recommendations! Yeah I am European, so I got Velocity Ultra with PS+ and will get Guacamelee as well. I am not a fan of FPS-Games so Killzone probably isn't for me but I'll take a look at the rest!

Stranger's Wrath is an FPS+TPS hybrid action game. For the most part, you can take your time in defeating enemies but otherwise, it is among the best games on the Vita performance and graphics-wise.

Oh and get EDF 2017! It's a simplistic shooting game with epic hilarious dialog and rocket launchers.

The Vita is region free meaning you can get Japanese or US retail Vita games and your Vita will play them

Suspect moderation.

Yeah, it happens some. But it's normal for a brawler like Dragon's Crown -- gives it that old school SNES final fight feel. ;)

Besides, I think the PS3 has some too, when the screen gets loaded, but don't quote me on that.

Got Stranger's Wrath via PS+ but haven't tried it yet!

I know that the Vita is region-free but since account switching is such a hassle on the Vita I try not to import games which have DLC I want (except for games which aren't released in Europe at all).

Coolios.
If you like Adventure Games, keep an eye out for Stick it to the man and Broken Sword 5 releasing soon in December.

Still undecided whether that money should be directed to games instead or not... hmm.

Are you SERIOUSLY questioning on whether to get a 64 GB or not?
Come on brah, the one thing stopping me from ordering from Play asia is because of the shipping charges I'd have to pay at Aramex.

Welcome! I'll add you right now :) PSN ID = GAF ID

Third party titles aren't usually cross-buy sadly (logic, but sadly xD). Still, Dragon's Crown is cross-play, so you'd be able to play with Vita users whatever version you pick.

Gibbet Hill was one of the best parts of Tearaway so far. The music is incredible

Most of the music in the game is incredible. The style really suits the game, and I was rather hesitant about the music when I bought the game.

I finally got around to playing Earth Defense Force 2017 and I love it!
In terms of textures and animations it doesn't look that great, but it has that whole addicting and arcadey feel to it (which I haven't felt in a looooong time) that I don't care. $20 well spent.

NPC1: "I need ammo!"
NPC2: "Get it yourself!"

So instead of GTA, do you guys reckon they'll ever put a Saint's Row on Vita?

Hah! Doubtful.

So I can only get one of the older Ys games, which should I get?

7... although! Felghana I think is the best choice if you want to experience how teeth-gritting Ys combat can be.

7 is better mechanically and graphically... but... how should I put this, it is more of an RPG Ys than action Ys in that you can basically steamroll through all opposition if you grind levels long enough... unlike in Felghana where generally skills count the most. Real tense combat in here.

Ys Seven and Oath of Felghana are really great if you can get them since they are discounted right now. I always preferred Felghana more because of my fondness for only controlling only one character. Both are great though.
