Neon Evangelion the moves might be right up your alley.

Otherwise some decent ones per genre:
Comedy: Detroit Metal City, Cromartie High School
Com-Rom: School Rubmle, Toradora
Drama: Suzuka, 5 cm per Second
Mystery: The girl who leapt through time
Action: Kenishi - the mightiest diciple (best anime ever imo)
Other: Tiger and Bunny, Welcome to the N.H.K

My anime run continues, now with Gundam. Watched the first UC 0079 Movie yesterday, and will now continue the journey with Movie 2, Movie 3 and so on. Based on feedback from various Gundam-heads 'round the net, I intend to watch the whole franchise(well most of it) in the following order:

UC Universe....

1.) Mobile Suit Gundam
2.) Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
3.) Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam
4.) Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
5.) Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
6.) Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
7.) Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
8.) Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn

Side/Alternate universe:

1)Wing
2)Turn A
3)SEED
4)00
5)G Gundam(maybe?)

Would you guys agree with this viewing order?

Well I finally finished Zeta Gundam. Not quite as good as 0079 but still very good especially towards the end. Last few episodes were boss.

I'm now 6 episodes into ZZ and umm...yeah, I don't think I'll continue on this path. Char's Counter Attack is lookin' pretty tasty right about now.

Recent memorable anime I've watched are:

- Kids on the Slope
- Sword Art Online (1st season is incredible, 2nd was a bit weird, but still enjoyable)
- New Evangelion movies
- Log Horizon (brand new series)
- Space Brothers
- Kingdom
- Hunter X Hunter

there's a lot more, but those should tide you for some time...

ZZ Gundam is done. Not as bad as I initially thought it'd be. Onto CCA...

I don't think there's any neccessity to watching in any kind of order. But, I wanted to just throw out there, I tried watching the original gundam series myself a ways back, and I found it didn't really hold up.
I'd try to give you more insight, as I have seen quite a few gundam series, and some of them were amazing, but I'm sad to say the names have sorta blended together in my head, and it's hard to keep straight, what with everything being called 'Gundam' something or other.
I would say, many of the best gundam shows were really short[episode wise], so I'd give preference to the shorter series, both because of this, and easier time commitments.

It's weird that Akira is in none of those lists.
It's funny to see both MD Geist's in the short worst list!

Hunt down Irresponsible Captain Tylor. It's old but people are mentioning old Gundam series.
More recently, yet still somewhat old, I liked the premise behind .hack//Sign. The protagonist can be pretty grating though.

For the original MSG these days the only real way to watch is through the 3 recap movies.
Watching the series is a dumb idea. And you're right there is really no need for viewing order though with UC it might be somewhat beneficial for some works.

I just finished FullMetal Alchemist (2003) today and quite enjoyed it, but it felt unfinished.
Is it worth watching the Movie for closure?
Or is it worth just going straight onto Brotherhood?

Oh no... like, if you absolutely can't help yourself... still stop yourself.
Personally, I think the original FMA is better than Brotherhood, but that movie gives me pause, it's so bad.

Yes.

The movie is the ending to the original series. If you liked the events that happened at the end of the series and want more closure, watch that movie.

The movie is a good way to close out the series, and it's great in general. Definitely better for closure than the end of the TV series.

Jump into Brotherhood after that.

Are you serious? You actually liked it? It actually devalued the original ending for me. I seriously wish I never saw it.
How do I put it in words... it felt like fanfiction. Bad fanfiction.

The tv ending was like that for me by devaluing the premise of the show and end goal. It was pretty much a non-ending, whereas the movie closed out that one major plot point that was more important than the rest.

The movie completely destroyed whatever love I had for the original series.

Just start watching Brotherhood instead.

So, having famous people from European history fly into Amestris on rocket ships fixed all that for ya, eh?
All I can say about it, is give me back my open ended ending please!

I want to start watching Fullmetal Alchemist, as it seems to have won several awards and is very popular in Japan. However, I would like to have something clarified: what's the real difference between the two anime series ? Is the second one (Brotherhood) a sequel to the first one or is it set in a different universe ? I've heard the Brotherhood is a more faithful adaptation of the original manga, but that's about it. I want to know the relation between the two anime series. Is Brotherhood a sequel ? A remake ? Completely different ? Without spoiling anything, of course.

FMA was made before the manga ended so there's filler episodes and the story line diverges a good bit from that in the manga.

FMA;B is a retelling of the story while staying a lot more close to what happened in the manga. Think of it as a more accurate remake.

Alright, thanks ! I'll watch Brotherhood then.

Whoa whoa whoa, it's not that simple!
Brotherhood assumes it's watchers have seen the first series first, so it retells the first half of the story fast, and badly, just to get through it quickly. There's even spoilers given away in the first episode.
If you want to avoid filler, but have optimum content, watch like half of the original series[Until about when a character named Greed comes into play(like, his second appearance, to be exact)], then switch to brotherhood and start at around ep 14.
Only real way to do it, other than just watch both series in order.
They really shouldn't have bothered reduxing those first episodes of FMA in Brotherhood if they insisted on half assing them that much. I know from personal experience they were especially hard to sit through. I don't like to think of them being anyone's first taste of the series...

Well guys, I am happy to report I have finally finished watching Turn A Gundam. This was the very first "Alternate Timeline" Gundams I watched. Overall I thought it was a very very good and enjoyable show. Wasn't perfect and it some pacing issues, but I'd rank it as probably my favorite in the franchise....so far.

Soooo....with that having been said, here are the last five shows on my to watch list:

Gundam Wing
G Gundam
Gundam Seed
Gundam 00
Gundam Unicorn

Now keep in mind...I am someone that usually as rule, likes to watch things in order from worst to best, leaving the best for last. So with that in mind, what order would you guys recommend out of those last five Gundams? I want the last one to leave me breathless

All the UC related Gundam series I have already seen.

Ghost In the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Ghost In the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG are, in my opinion, among the two greatest series ever created anywhere.

If you've already watched all UC Gundam, then go for Unicorn. It's better than the other shows on that list by far.

Best: Worst:

Unicorn
G
00 or Wing

Don't watch Seed.

The original series is amazing. What doesn't hold up? Yeah, the animation is dated, but the artwork itself is still solid. The characters are fantastic and memorable, the story and conflict and ideas are all fantastic, and the music is god tier. Plus the mechanical designs are still awesome and not bogged down by the overcomplicated nonsense that the franchise has devolved into.

Interesting. This is the second time someone has said SEED is bad. What happened? I thought SEED was universally acclaimed?

I personally really hate 00, it only exist for all the yaoi fanfic. SEED is one of the best gundam show from the past few years. Unicorn is good but the show isn't finish yet, Gundam Build Fighter is also pretty promising.

If you looking for a robot show, Code Gease is one of the best one.

Psycho-pass
The story takes place in the future where it is possible to instantaneously measure a person's mental state, personality, and the probability that a person will commit crimes with a device installed on each citizen's body called the Psycho-Pass. It follows members of Unit One of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division and the crimes they investigate.

Genre: Cyberpunk, Dystopian, Science fiction, Crime thriller

Leave Unicorn for last, as the ultimate treat. The final episode should be out by the time you're done with all the ones you've listed.

First season of 00 is really really good as well.

Thanks. SLAW :)

I just finished watching SEED and I'm confident NOTHING will top it! I can't see 00, G, or Unicorn beating this show! It was fucking mindblowingly AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

SEED is simply fucking boss. Perfect story telling, perfect action sequences, ridiculously gorgeous color palette and art designs, hot babes, etc...

Not saying 0079, Zeta, etc are garbage...far from it....but for me SEED is just on a whole 'nother level. Those characters, those intense battles, that animation quality, those beautiful colors popping at me in glorious 720p, those Gundam designs....SEED is just, *gasp*... ORGASMIC!!!!

Am I really in for a pleasant surprise when I get around to 00 and Unicorn?(Don't worry I'm not touching Destiny with a ten foot pole)

Space Brothers is a must watch series. It's not done yet, but it's one of the most enjoyable series I've ever watched.
