Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

Ok the internet browser on this thing is amazing.

Now that I'm actually using the Wii U, I'm a believer :O (I still hate the name though)

What sealed it for me was when I loaded a full cd in youtube, then put it in the background while I navigated to other sites and the music kept playing. Best console (or tablet) browser that I've used yet.

Sorry Xbone

That's my next gen setup as well.

I'm doing this right now and holy shit. Playing youtube on my tv while posting on GAF.

I'm a PS4U owner too!

Well I'm ready to jump on the wii u bandwagon lol. Ordered one from bestbuy yesterday and am now waiting impatiently for it to ship.

Holy crap! Wii Remote Plus AND a Nunchuk for just $20??? Sweet!

For what it's worth my order is listed as "backordered" - of course, it didn't tell me that until AFTER I paid. Maybe it'll update tomorrow. I'll keep GAF posted.

As long as they get here within a month it's still definitely worth it. Unbelievable price.

I have been following this thread for the past few days. I know that Black Friday had some great WII U Bundle deals. However, I was unable to pick one up.

Does anyone know of any other soon to be Wii U deals? If not, I may have to wait.

Best Buy next week.

Seriously? =/ I'm wanting to get them before Christmas, so I can play NSMBU with my little sisters... maybe I should just grab them elsewhere.

Make sure you get 3D World he game is amazing. Other must haves imo ZombiU, Lego City, Pikmin3, W101, WWHD, if you can get NFSMWU cheap I'd highly recommend it, along with Arkham City If you haven't played it. you cant go wrong with any of those.

Just ordered that Mario and Luigi U bundle from Best Buy going to pick it up tomorrow along with a Pro Controller U. I already have a Wii with four Wii Remotes, nun-chucks and motion pluses, and a CC so no problem with getting extra controllers. I plan on going all digital starting with 3D World so I'll download that when I get the system.

I'm currently enjoying the heck out of ZombiU(copped it via black Friday deal).

I just completed my objectives in the palace section, though it seems like I'll eventually be back there. Looting and scavenging for supplies really sets the survival tone of this game. The feeling of regaining your backpack - especially if it's loaded - is similar to the feeling of empowerment you get when you find/possess 'the book' in Eternal Darkness. ZombiU, along with TW-101, are two of the most underrated games I've played in recent years. Despite some very minor imperfections, it's extremely hard to see why reviewers couldn't appreciate all the things these games do right.

I absolutely LOVE how much controll ZombiU gives you over how you progress throughout the game. Being constantly haunted by the possibility of permanently losing your current character due to one careless mistake, further drives you to play more carefully, with a real purpose behind every decision. You're not just trying to complete your next objective, you are genuinely trying to stay alive, and the only thing that matters - besides your own life - is your gear! This is survival horror in its purest sense.

Can't wait to dive back in again later. Judging by some comments, it seems like headphones w/gamepad is the best way to experience sound in this game?

this thread is killing me, I am happy people are getting the Wii U and enjoying it and I have to sit and wait for mine in repair, the earliest I could get it back in Monday tops.

Just for the record I love the damn thing, but the wireless connection between the pad and system just kept failing and erroring out, even sitting 2 feet away not even playing games. Was very sad face because I had a solid 7 months of good play in that thing. Hopefully it gets fixed fast, maybe just the pad needs replacing, I will be fine with whatever.

I am again just happy everyone that is getting a Wii U is enjoying it as much as my family has.

I blame it on reviewers being bad at videogames.

Zombi U is absolutely fantastic. I picked it up over the weekend for $15 and I'm being brought back to a long lost age of good Survival Horror games.

I like how some audio comes through the gamepad while others through the TV, so I don't know if I'd use headphones for this one, but to each their own. Survival Horror + Headphones is pretty damn immersive, though.

What kind of shelf is that? Looks nice.

You get both if you set the audio to Gamepad only (AKA headphone mode).

Just sold a tablet that I wasn't using and in the market for a Wii U. No achievmemnts/system account is probably gonna bug me, but I want HD Nintendo games. Any advice for spotting a good deal?

Next week at Best Buy - buy 1, get one 50% off for almost all Wii U games. There's a list over at CAG in one of the threads if you're interested.

No trophies and achievements is a fucking amazing awakening. It's like you can actually play and enjoy your games.

Instead, you can post all of your accomplishments on Miiverse, which is just as addictive =D

Rock on

Trust me, achievements aren't as cracked up as you may believe. I somewhat feel relieved that Nintendo opted out of such a system. I agree about their account system. It's pretty dated. I'm not sure about any upcoming deals.

The WiiU browser is quite good.

I think people underestimate how important the tablet is for both drawing and text entry. Browsers on consoles are usually crap for many reasons, but a primary one is that they are a pain to use with a controller. No matter how well they run or what their features are they are ultimately useless as they are just such a hassle to operate.

I love my Wii U, but I ignore comments like this. Trophies and achievements are addictive and they extend the life of games for a lot of people. Nintendo's insistence on not including them is a negative that hurts their appeal. If you dont like them, they're easy to ignore. If you love them, they're great. Offering no choice in the matter is a bad thing.

I missed them a lot when I started playing Wii several months back. Not sure how much Miiverse will make up for it, doesn't seem to be the same type of thing to me.

I've decided that it's not a big enough deal to not hop into 3D World though. I think the biggest thing that felt dated on the Wii for me was actually just the resolution. Also never played Wind Waker so that'll be a treat. Plus girlfriends and non-gamer buds love Nintendo, and playing games with (real) friends is the best way to play.

Dude the achievements are there and sometimes they're actually included in the game (Arkham City, W101). The U basically gives you the option of creating them yourself via Miiverse.

Tell me what you what feel the difference in satisfaction is between hearing a *ding* from you cutting off 20 heads and seeing some box in the upper corner of your screen pop up, and taking an in game on the moment screenshot and then posting up "Haha bitches!!" for everyone in the U online community to see and comment upon.

Same fucking thing.

And screenshots are cooler anyways =P
