The Final Bosman Show

Maybe it was only me, but this episode gave me a very faint "1UP Show" feeling with that segment at the end, and it felt good!... man, I miss the 1UP Show so much

Maybe Kyle plans to evolve his show into something similar?.. add more time outside the newscast segment?

...agh screw it... its just our 1UP Show nostalgia flaring up again

Yea, I got a 1UP Show vibe from it as well.

Would love to see him turning it into something more, but I suppose it's hard to force or manufacture something like that.

Another great segment.

It's funny because I almost thought he was going to touch on my biggest flaw with GTA V. In this installment and maybe it's because of my age or something. I can't stay in the world too long because every single moment is so cynical and filled entirely with miserable people. The shows, characters, radio, billboards, etc. I know its a satire but a part of me wished for some balance. Like RDR had balance. GTA V is constant bombardment.

Maybe I just miss switching to classical and cruising through a city.

Brilliant, perfect, ICE COLD episode! The Mario and Last of Us bits were exactly right.

And yes, Bioshock Infinite was a stupid, instantly forgettable game.

Jason Rubin said:
During the interview, he said that Xbox One and PS4 will do well in this generation, “Because Nintendo has stumbled.” He added, “Nintendo is irrelevant as a hardware manufacturer in the console business right now.”

When asked why he felt that way, he added, “[Nintendo's] own numbers.”

He conceded that here will be no developer like Miyamoto, but added, “It is a crime we do not play those games on the systems that we have as a community.”

Nintendo better go third party before it goes gaol party.

He is one of the few *journalists (WTF is he?) that genuinely see's Nintendo as being equal to Sony and MS. Not higher or lower. That is so odd.

Interesting episode....Im wondering if it was in part due to this thread I made a while back.....the only time Bosman has actually posted on neogaf was to separate GT from VGX and the PS4/XB1 launches
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=720431

GameTrailers actually didn't produce the PS4/Xbox One launch events or the VGAs (VGX this year); the site hosts those Spike-branded streams because Viacom is its powerful, loving mother. There are a few overlapping people who work on everything, but just to be clear, GameTrailers' editorial staff is completely separate from the pedestals of french fries.

Also The Final Bosman sucks.

Can someone tell me or link me to the episode where the origins of this cafe girl is explained? In last weeks video at the end Kyle talked about her, but I didn't get the joke because I didn't know who it was.

Yeah i was wandering too, he says something along the lines of "it's pretty clear which game I would like to see win" but to me it did not seem clear at all.

Seriously? He said that The Last of Us would only not win if the advisory panel were idiots or they didn't know what Game of the Year meant.

Sure go ahead and plug your thread to make yourself feel special that he acknowledged you. I'm not bitter or anything. :(

On a more sane note, I'm surprised that Kyle has the restraint to post on NeoGAF more, though I suppose when you are a visual representative of a company then that's probably part of the policy. Plus, he already states his opinions in videos so I guess there's no use to argue in a messageboard.

It wasn't cafe, it was a deli girl I believe. I don't remember the deli girl being mentioned before. I think it was just a random moment lol

GameTrailers employees can't post on NeoGAF? Oh wait...

No he said the opposite TLOU wont win if the members dont know what GOTY is. He seems to favor 3D world and TLOU.
No, guys, you're both wrong, so let me repeat what you both said: he said The Last of Us won't win if the advisory council doesn't know what Game of the Year means.

That Super Mario 3D World segment was an ice cold takedown of Jason Rubin's comments.

Paraphrasing: "Why would I spend $300 dollars to play one excellent game when I could spend $400 or $500 to play a bunch of regular games? It's economics!"

It makes a damn fine point and that is excluding the fact that the Wii U has other solid games and for the budget conscious or Nintendo first gamer would be a good purchase.

I also think his favored game is The Last of Us, but he and others seem to have a concern that it will lose out to GTAV. Hands down I think TLOU should take it. Kyle brought up a good point about the ridiculousness of the story but I also felt that. while excellent, GTA did not bring anything revolutionary to the table other than a character switching mechanic. The Last of Us was a profound triumph that will raise expectations for action games for years in terms of fidelity of game design and writing.

Yup exactly why I hated the characters and story of that game and probably didn't like it as much as others. All the "satire" is so juvenile its shit a 16 year old would write or think its funny. Satire is not taking one aspect and dialing it up to 1000x and shoving it in your face and going "do you get it now!! we are making fun of this! now LAUGH". There is nothing mature about GTA 5 but the industry and rockstar like to pretend they are some bastion clever writing.

If the same kind of writing was on a TV show it would be panned and hated by everyone on here. Actually the writing in that game is pretty much 2 Broke girls.

I really hope Bosman gains more of an authority in the video game industry. It's refreshing to hear his opinions in comparison to the drivel we normally hear about gaming. This episode I especially liked his comments on Tomb Raider. I'll have to check it out.

Very true. The way he described the game has been the only time where I wanted to actually play the game.

Is he a writer by trade? If he is, it shows. His metaphors almost always perfectly encompass his meaning and his descriptions are downright luscious. I've never been interested in Tomb Raider, but now I feel like I have to play it to see how the developers used its settings as gameplay elements.

Kyle really shines in a pre-scripted show like Final Bossman. He has a knack for clever writing and has already established some great sketches and meme's for his show. I really like how it's developing. When he is in a Live setting with off-the-cuff dialogue, he still does well, but it's not nearly as composed or entertaining.

Tomb Raider is the AAA'est game that came out this year. It's a culmination of all the trends in recent history in a violent nonsensical package. It'd feel pretty fresh if you hadn't played any of the big games for a while but there's something cynical about its design. It's just... a bunch of checked boxes.

Definitely check it out. It's pretty cheap these days.

What do you mean? Do you work at GT? I meant less that employees can't post on NeoGAF and more that they tend to not post by their own choice so that they don't post something stupid thay could potentially get them into a lot of trouble at their job.

Yes, he works for GT. Daniel Bloodworth is a reviewer and makes frequent appearances on several of their shows.

I like him, he seems... genuine.

He doesn't just regurgitate PR bullshit, he is critical, calls out bullshit when he sees it etc
makes any excitement he has for anything actually credible

I'm surprised gt bothered to offer him a voice on their site

It felt to me that everything it was trying to do with Lara's character was crushed by what Naughty Dog accomplished with Ellie. When you compare the deer stalking sequences in each game, for example, Tomb Raider's comes across as completely laughable. But Kyle's also right that the biggest problem is Croft was designed in the 90s and has always been a terrible Mary Sue. Nothing about her character makes sense. She's super-rich, and super athletic, and super hot and super intelligent, and she's an archaeologist/spy/socialite. When you compare her to Indiana Jones, well, he's a down on his luck college professor who gets the shit kicked out of him a lot. He's conflicted, but affable so we root for him in these impossible situations, while Lara just runs around killing species once thought extinct for fun. The reboot tries to modernize her, but there's just no there there to focus on.

I loved it. I think the reason his show is successful (it is, isn't it? or is it just me? ) is because he's just honest and resonates with the ideas of the gaming community.

He's just like one of us, more or less.

Kyle, if you're reading this, keep it up mate. Your show is great!

Funny, I said the same thing to myself while watching. I thought about how well Kyle would have fit in the ol 1up office.
