Steam Machines and Steam Controllers shipping December 13th (US only)

valve_time.jpg

they're just a little late

So you're telling me it could take a few years to get the email? :<

Pardon my lack of excitement, what is so exciting about it? How is it different from a gaming PC with SteamOS on it?

And, oh, 450w PSU in SFF?

Even if you didn't sign up, you have a similar chance of being selected.

Some of the posts here don't reflect that though.

Haha, no.

You HAD to do the stuff to get the beta participant badge to even be CONSIDERED for the beta.

So, they still haven't announced winners? *ManHavingHeartAttack.gif*

Damn, I thought I lost. Guess we're still on the rollercoaster of Valve time, then?

It's running SteamOS so that'll be cool to tinker around with, and you get it and the Steam controller for free. Who wouldn't be excited to get a free PC that has the chance of having a titan in it?

Another email notification, but from Urban Outfitters this time. I wish I could just find out if I won or not so I could stop freaking out everytime my phone goes off.

looks like someone on reddit got in? Their badge updated:

or it's fake :lol

Would not be hard to do, that badge transition is easily obtainable on SteamDB and could be photoshopped in.

Thats nice. I've yet to decide whether I want to go down the mini ITX path or just make a slightly larger mATX system

I would pick the case that you want and go up from there. Choose one that is aesthetically pleasing for both yourself and entertainment center.

There are so many amazing options for SFF these days. Come join us in the I Need A New PC thread.

Personally I'm VERY excited for what SteamBox is doing to the industry. Looking forward to having a small box on my TV that streams games from my more powerful computer downstairs.

That's apparently exactly what happened: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamuniverse/discussions/0/648814213882293069/#c648814213885674798

Also, first person to announce it on Twitter? https://twitter.com/HeavyArmsDan/status/410899806605688832

This was probably the most nerve wracking, gut wrenching experience I've had all year.

I don't know whether I should be saying fuck you Valve or thanks for the excitement Valve.

Me too, I think the aesthetics of the Steam Prototype case are perfect for me so I'll have to wait for them to put out the CAD files or whatever manufacturer starts selling them. My only fear is getting the cooling setup down since it will be the first miniITX i'll build, it looked like there was some sort of radial fan in there for the processor? I'll definitely check out the New PC thread. Cheers!

They'll have known for ages it was US Only. Just a clever way to gain a whole load of info on various Steam Users. It's always US. Guy who won all the games was US base too. Scummy Valve.

What regulatory stuff anyway? it's a PC in a small box running Linux.

*Edit* I stand corrected lol? ^^^^^^^^

Out of the 421,843 eligible, no one on NeoGAF seemed to get it.

Of course some people might be at work or busy right now but the odds should be in our favor considering we're a pretty big gaming community.

Damn. I didn't get in. It wouldn't have worked out anyways. I've got 8 months of training and they don't allow stuff like that where I'm going.

I'm not that interested in their pre-built PCs. I'd like to get my hands on that controller and the OS. Hopefully the OS is available soon then so we can all test it.
