Steam Machines and Steam Controllers shipping December 13th (US only)

I got in, as well. Just sent off my signed documentation back to Valve. Looks like they're shipping on Friday. Super excited!

(Man, and this is right after I got Google Glass, a new TV, PS4/Xbone, and a Nexus 5. I have too many toys now!)

I'm also anxious to see if I'll be able to, at all, use my Oculus Rift with the Steam Machine. I guess I'll find more out later! Can't wait to try out that controller.

Congrats! I hate you!

What happens if you wear the Oculus Rift over Google Glass while holding the Steam controller with Kinect watching you?

Sweet! Congratulations! Now, I expect daily updates and heaps of pictures. Open that thing and give us techporn.

That's what I'll be doing once I get it. Excited to see what model I get; hoping for a high-end one, but also very interested in how the low-end ones will perform, especially once streaming is added.

Did you get a Steambox, or just the controller? Either way, very awesome. Congrats!

Pretty sure the first 300 get different variants of the hardware and a prototype controller (without the touchscreen). I'll know more soon!

"One day...I got in."

Perfect response.

Thanks! I was worried it might be spam, but my account got the badge so I'm fairly confident that I'm not fooling myself.

Pretty interested to see what model of the beta hardware I get -- here's hoping for a titan!

Congrats, man :).

We really need a separate thread just for your pictures and videos :).

Enjoy it!

You are now one out of 421,843 eligible beta candidates.
Good Luck!

We’ve had to make the difficult decision to limit our beta to the U.S. only, because of regulatory hurdles.

I expect full documentation and videos from the lucky few who got it here.

Grats. Can't wair for impressions.

Also unless OR is limited to Windows only I don't see why you couldn't use it. Source SDK 2013 has VR support now, so you can play HL2, TF2 with it.

You can afford all that and get a free steam machine? yeah pff, whatever dude, congrats I guess. Yeah I am salty about this, especially with the US only nonsense.

I guess we will be hearing impressions soon.

Bit of an update:

The boxes shipped in batches today, so some people have received shipping notifications and others -- like me -- are still waiting for shipping info. Most of the games listed in the email have been credited to our accounts, aside from Strike Suit Zero and Beatbuddy. Those two are missing, for some reason.

Looks like Valve sent them out with two-day shipping, so everyone who's gotten a notification will have his/her box on Tuesday. The boxes are sitting at ~35 lbs (~16 kg).

If all goes well I will have more to say on Tuesday!

Are the lucky people getting these machines under NDA's?

We have been told to share any- and everything we find. The only restriction we have is against selling or giving away the hardware. Seems like they want us to swap the hardware around with other devices too, to see what does and doesn't work.

The special thing about the Machine itself is the case. For its size it packs quite the power (especially with the high-end models). I'm curious how it'll handle cooling, noise, how did they manage to layout the cables etc

Otherwise I'm really looking forward to the controller and streaming impressions.

Btw I'm not sure how much Valve told you beforehand, but this blog post has a list of games with custom steam controller configurations: http://steamdb.info/blog/34/

Just got my shipping info this morning, too. Very excited! I can't wait to see what the hardware specs are.

Looks like my Steam Machine will come in on Tuesday. I guess I didn't realize it was pretty much just a straight-up PC. I sort of assumed it was something more like an Apple TV, where I'd be streaming from my current gaming PC. This is way more exciting though, haha.

I'll definitely be giving impressions alongside anyone else. I'm not afraid to open it up, as long as I'm not violating any NDA or other agreement.

There's going to be devices like that eventually, Valve just decided for this beta to use mostly high-end machines.

There's no NDA. As raugupatis said, the only restriction is no to sell it/give it away.

Thanks for the link! I'm interested to see how versatile the remapping is, and what crazy controller presets I can change.

Seems like they'll be sending out a variety of machines, both mid- and high-end. Nothing weak enough to classify as a streaming box, I agree.

Oooo! Exciting! I wonder which one I'll get. I hope it's an ultra high-end model, but of course I'm happy with any. :)
