Tales of Zestiria announced for PS3 [announced worldwide]

Fastest localization announcement ever for a Tales game.

Every time they reveal a new Tales game, they show just one character fighting, and people get worried that it'll be single-player combat. Every single time!
Well, I feel like a lesser Tales fan for not knowing that. Thanks for the information, though!

I'm glad it got confirmed for a worldwide release already... now I don't have to ignore the games existence on the off chance that namco decided to go... "Everyone has moved onto the ps4 in NA/EU, there is no reason to release a ps3 game in 2015."

Damn, remember when we have to beg and please for localization announcements? Feels like another lifetime or something.

I think they might hold this up till January 2015 for EU/NA. I mean we already have two big Tales games coming out next year in both territories, so it just makes sense to delay it a bit.

Not enough people making fun of the name.

also sounds too much like Vesperia.

Damn, beaten.

Looks good anyway. Day 1 for me.

How can I start showing Namco my enthusiasm for faster localization?

My enthusiasm from earlier in the thread apparently worked everyone! I did it! It only took 15 minutes this time fantastic.

Amazing that they've already announced localization, we've come so far from Graces it's stellar.

Japanese Culture Expert
:/

Well, I'm so sorry. I try to be sensible, and I don't pretend to be an expert on Japanese culture. I definitely understand that I know very little and that you can't understand all that much about the culture from their entertainment. I didn't live there very long(only a few months) and that's why I have such limited knowledge. But everyone who lives in Japan tells me me that Japan has a very group based culture. And everyone who writes about Japan seems to say this same thing as well. I've also heard and read a lot about how social groups often become like "second families" from people who lived there far longer than me. So I tend to assume it's most likely that they have at least some truth to what they're saying.

Knowing that, that's my best hypothesis as to understanding why Japanese RPGs seem to be more focused on parties and group bonding. I could very well be incredibly wrong. But in trying to understand something, that's my best possible explanation. I don't claim to be an expert on Japanese culture. But I do think that trying to understand the differences in various cultures is a good thing.

Or maybe that wasn't meant as a criticism of me at all. And I was just being defense. If so, I'm sorry. I'm just so used to that being used as a criticism of me.

If anyone actually is a Japanese culture expert. Please do tell me how incredibly wrong I am when I make claims like this. I understand that I'm pretty ignorant about many cultures.

To be honest, I really like this logo a lot.

"Worldwide release" has no timeframe information encoded in it whatsoever.

Well, at least we don't have to wait an extra year/6 months for the localization announcement and the game coming out a year after (thus 2 year delay).

Glad to see localisation confirmed!

Ahhh sweet, Hideo Baba mentions at the end in that post that Xillia has sold over 1 million copies worldwide.

I wonder how many of those are western sales? At least 100K is from the US alone in the month of August.

And both were because of Microsoft

Last time we heard about Xillia in Japan it was around 625-650k

Don't think MS has anything to do with it. SE was able to get Neir out for a worldwide release. At that point there were still plans for a PS3 Last Remnant

Cool, I will add this to the OP.

Oh, you got it wrong, I was just trying to be funny, that's all. I actually agree with a lot of things you said. :)

Neat that they announced a worldwide release so quickly. But the quote from the press release posted earlier implied it would be localized anyway.

Would be really surprised if it comes hits in 2014 outside Japan. I'm guessing late winter/spring 2015 unless Xillia 2 comes out earlier than expected.
