I feel like I should get in on this Spelunky fun. Seems I'm missing out :P. But I also want Terraria and Runner 2 next week...

It's 3.75 for PS+ subscribers. You do have PS+, don't you?

BUY IT.

Yeah the climbing gloves are more of a boon than anything. So many times they have saved my ass.

Also trying to get to the city of gold is killing me.

I gave up on trying to get there for now -- if it happens, great. If it doesn't, screw it. :)

Bit Trip Runner 2 seems popular so I'll look into it more myself but even I'm feeling a bit swamped with games at the moment, want to get further in stick it to the man as well before giving the Doki Doki Universe trial a decent chance and don't want to leave those recent ps1 pickups untouched forever as I usually do with them.

granted i don't know anything about you really

i think you'll like runner 2 on vita.

i love on ps3 and think its a perfect match for vita.

A sincere thank you for not quoting the whole list.

Sitting on the can at work, and while I do intend to spend quite some time here i'd rather not spend it scrolling.

We must all do our part. I hope things worked out for you on the can.

Just broke down and bought tearaway I don't know why it's not like I have time to play, but the game just look to charming not to own.

You are a good person. Play it at Christmas all cosy and it will be unforgettable.

I would hyperventilate if this happens. God Hand and Shinobi on a handheld, wow

The wound... she opens...

Okay it sounds good, will definitely check it out properly. I am of course worried it's a bit simple with the jump and slide but it's so popular I'll definitely give a demo a try or watch some more videos. The artstyle does look fun too.

It seems like the Vita sold like crap this month too. Worse than Wii U (like every month so far).

Seriously pay attention to your own system + whats available to you and not what others are buying. You might enjoy gaming a lot more that way. :)

I just hope that Tearaway and Ys Celceta sold well.

please don't disappoint me US Vita owners.

Well I did my part on Tearaway though I haven't had a chance to play as much of it as I would like due to school obligations. My GF loves it though. Fun, creative little game.

I get tempted by those Ridge Racer screens every now and then. If only it wasn't 30fps and so content deficient :(

Has anyone bought Sid Meier's Pirates for Vita? I can find it here on the PlayStation website and it lists Vita, but I can't find it on the store.

The general US PlayStation.com is wrong about a lot of that stuff. I'm pretty sure it lists all PSP games as being on Vita, even if they didn't get a PSN release.

I just hope that Tearaway and Ys Celceta sold well.

I bought both (and promptly sold my copy of Tearaway once I finished it -- I fear the length and used market will combine to hurt sales of the game).

I get tempted by those Ridge Racer screens every now and then. If only it wasn't 30fps and so content deficient :(

Those screens look nice.
I just remember the general disappointment most people seem to hold for it -- even when they're selling the game and DLC bundle for cheap.

It is bad for the future of the system. These numbers ARE important, no matter what you say.

If it isn't selling, there's no need to localize japanese games, for example. No need to make new software for it.

That means you have a hardware with a very low life cycle in your hands. And that's not what we want.

Yes, it's like 2 maps or something like this if I remember correctly. And the last scenario, Proving Grounds, it's kinda good since it add something new I won't spoil you. You can always the list of areas in a walthrough for some confirmation.

Well I beat Bioshock. Spoilerz
Final boss was patheic. I was expecting him to say "THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM" but sadly that didn't happen. Thought the good ending was really sweet with all the sisters getting to live their own lives, but the ending was kinda lackluster :\

Should I play Bioshock 2? I already have it because PS+ but to be honest I don't feel like playing 2. I'd rather just play Infinite lol.

Wow, so many stuff I need/want to respond. Pardon me folks, ahahahaha.

There is a demo you know...

I am such a lazy bastard, I rarely get demo for stuff I am eyeing for. I prefer to just watch youtube and stuff like that, hahaha.

Ok what case is that and where can I grab skins like that for it? *Throws credit card at monitor*

With a Pelican 1170 on the way I may have to rethink how I customize the foam.

I love this thread but damn is it enabling my impulse trigger finger.

It's from a local guy, sorry, I don't exactly know how you can get it.

How does it cost? I don't know if I can apply it myself lol

10 bucks, more or less. Applying it is easy, though it takes some patience.

how's Breath of Fire IV on the Vita?
hmm still undecided on that 64GB lol

BoFIV best BoF yet

no one can prove me wrong.

Breath of Fire IV is *superb*. Folks loving III more than IV are just crazy, don't listen to them, hahaha, but V... well, IV just edges V a bit---just barely.

VI can get its head cut off and burned by hellfire and stomped by a T-Rex and falling to the endless abyss and choke under the ocean for all I care.

Buy it, 64GB is the way to go

*Nods Nods Nods*

I disagree, unless spending that much isn't a big deal. It's expensive, import only, and even more of a luxury item considering that the content manager allows such easy transfer/backup with a PC.

I am buying it just for the sake of convenience :)

one page heathen,

rice out yo vita banana.

Hoooooooooo........... this kind of setup is not bad actually.

Why would anyone join the 100ppp plebs?

I'll stay down here with the little guys thank you very much~

This is serious business. Why settle for 50 ppp when you can have 100% more posts despite the same forum? You can't spin this.

The feel of next gen.

50ppp is superior, I don't know how anyone can dispute this. Like, it's as clear cut as the sky is blue.

heres the way i see it:

is you current card nearly full of legit owned games?

if yes, then time to upgrade card size.

My line of thought is like this: "holy crap there's something bigger and now I want it."

I guess I am the kind of customer Sony loves so much. Come on Sony, give me a voucher or something will you!

Just to clarify, the tilt controls and touch controls are two different things. Honestly, I'd just stick to the tilt controls.

Not really.
The game was designed to use six axis motion controls.
So tilt, just like Flower, is pretty much the default.

But frost, you forget one thing: when you play it on the PS3 using six axis motion controls, the TV screen doesn't sway around as you sway your controller around, unlike in Vita.

I don't know how anyone can use tilt in the Vita version without feeling uncomfortable. At least with touch you don't have too much your Vita around wildly and can properly stare at the screen.

Also, if theres a PS+ game that you like so much that you'd want to have it forever, I think you should just buy the game.

Eh, PS4 requires you to have PS+ to go online so you're pretty much forced to have it, so why not and get all the available goodies while you're at it?

Had another nightmare that I broke my Vita. It was terrifying.

My 1st Vita got a broken battery that sometimes for no explicable reason got better, then got damaged again, bah.

i would like to say that it's a damn shame the Vita isn't selling well. I love my Vita and it's library :(

That mobile in Japan thread really send daggers to my heart :(

That means you have a hardware with a very low life cycle in your hands. And that's not what we want.

The point is, it's not like we can do anything about it other than to buy stuff to support its existence. So yeah, thinking about it too much will just impede your enjoyment on what is available in front of you.

Should I play Bioshock 2? I already have it because PS+ but to be honest I don't feel like playing 2. I'd rather just play Infinite lol.

2 was MUCH better than I expected. I anticipated it would be trash, because it wasn't done by the original studio. I liked it about as much as the original... I just wish they hadn't wasted their time tacking on Multiplayer.

I have no problems with it. I got 100% of the trophies in Flower on both platforms, even the "take no damage" one that pisses some people off. :P

Has anyone on here bought the Japanese Hyperdimension Neptunia accessory set? This one -> http://www.play-asia.com/kami-jigen-idol-neptune-pp-accessory-set-paOS-13-49-en-70-6odz.html

I'm looking into getting it, but I want to make sure I'm getting something that's good quality.

Should I play Bioshock 2? I already have it because PS+ but to be honest I don't feel like playing 2. I'd rather just play Infinite lol.

Play BioShock 2! Really loved that game. The story is a lot more heartfelt and the gameplay is superior to the original.

Edit: Also, I just bought Spelunky. Now I'll be able to join in on the conversation :p.

The point is, it's not like we can do anything about it other than to buy stuff to support its existence. So yeah, thinking about it too much will just impede your enjoyment on what is available in front of you.

It's not that I'm not enjoying at all. I like my Vita and I'm still playing it's games everyday. I'm not ignoring the negatives aspects though.

It's bloody annoying since I can't comfortably play it while on the bed with tilt, bleh.

Also,

A salute to all of our brethren that got cut down on Dragon Quest VIII iOS thread.

Not "ignoring" but "thinking too much about it" :) Like I said, we can't do anything about it so it seems like such a waste of energy to think too much about stuff beyond our control.

That NPD figure.

chansub-global-emoticon-f6c13c7fc0a5c93d-36x30.png

Yup it's beyond bad. this really will effect us Vita owners since it mean less games for us in 2014 as no one will like to put their games on a system that sell less than 80K in Novmber. it's bad in so many levels.

what Sony need to do is a PSP3 for 2015 using Tegra 5/6 and get the money from PS4 sales and get a deal for a new MH and DQ.

You american Vitabros better go out and convince people to buy Vitas and/or buy them as christmas gifts for everyone :/

When lord Jack himself don't care? Vitabros word of mouth wont really help without SCEA marketing and good software pricing.

Is this suppose to give us hope? SCEA forgot the Vita exists.

It wasn't meant to give you hope. It's an attempt to rationalize why the platform is doing so poorly. As I said in that NPD thread, it's pretty evident that SCEA checked out last year. The abysmal E3 showing, and the continued neglect only prove that.

You send me an invite? Never saw it.

Playing it the first time, I got hooked a little bit yesterday. I don't get the special rules for NPCs moving in though. Is it ok to have parts of your house as dirt, like the back wall?
I put chairs, torches and tables in the room still it wasn't a eligible room for my guide.

I tried digging down to the bottom on a small map yesterday and only scratched the surface on a small map. Can't imagine how long it will take me.
From the pacing I have to say it is a little bit slow. They should show a boss enemy sooner. Right now, I am just doing the same stuff.

^ haha

Not doing so well in Terraria. Have a whole bunch of connected rooms but only the tutorial guy has moved in. Keep losing my money when I die, should probably leave it at the house.

If I go left or right the corruption soul sucking things come at me. I have a bow and flaming arrows but when there is like 5 of them I can't keep going. Takes a few hits to kill them.
When I tunnel I run into the death worm thing that I don't even try and attack. Goes crazy on you.

Any tips would be appreciated. So far my best thing is having collected enough fallen stars for a mana bar...that is currently useless. Need them hearts or a way to figure out how to get gear that is better than wood...maybe try and get lucky with pots?

Edit: Common, what's up with these wall-hacking worms chasing you even to your home, even after killing you! Need to build something higher up?

Hurry up with Terraria, America!

--finally got enough iron bars that an anvil option showed up, on my way to better weapons and tools finally! Looking good. Just realised you make glass from sand as well hah, will get some light in these rooms.

Back wall needs to be a proper wall (wood, stone etc), can't be dirt. So you gotta take the dirt wall down with a hammer and build walls with building materials. Also, I think if you build platforms they don't count as a room 'separator' so in your screenshot the four levels you connected with platforms (with the giant worm) only count as one room. Some NPCs also only turn up after events have happened - eg.
blood moon, goblin army, beating first boss
or after you've gotten some items
money for merchant, explosives for demolitionist etc.
I think NPCs also might not spawn if you're too close to corruption (sounds like your case, you seem to be hemmed in on two sides) so I guess if they still don't turn up after a while you might have to move base :/

I'd reccomend you to try digging till you reach some underground caves for ore and special weapons, and make better gear now that you have an anvil (couple swings of iron/ silver sword or even pickaxe) can take care of the giant worms pretty quickly. Also get heart crystals underground which raises your health for survivability. Corruption monsters and worms are super persistent >_> doesn't matter if you go higher up, they chase you until you kill them/ they kill you. Might just be unlucky you spawned in a bad place. Terraria starts out a bit slow but once you start properly exploring with good gear bosses are super fun to fight.

had m vita at work today... some dude comes up and goes " what do you do with that".. i say you mean what do i do on it or what is it for. he says what do you play on it - there are no games. he further refered to it as a psp. shockingly he knew enough about video games to talk about ps4, using remote play, and a bunch of current and old school software.

luckily i had Killzone suspended so i turned it on and shut him up.

but it goes to show how under informed the general public is, even the general gaming public

to his defense he said he'd get one in a bundle with ps4.....

but i did my job two weeks ago and convinced my other coworker to buy a vita. so my quota is done for the year.

WTF is up with the first level of Rayman Legends? I cannot get 700 lums for a gold, even if I seemingly perfect it (rescue all teensies, etc.). I think I've maxed out around 580.

Also, how the hell are people finishing the daily challenge in what looks like <5 seconds?

I figured SCEA not caring about the Vita was common knowledge (at least here).

Perhaps I'm being a bit naive, but part of me thinks that SCEA is still putting effort into the platform, just in a very different way than we're used to. It looks like they're marketing it more on indie games and remote play than traditional retail games. I think they're just trying a new approach when they saw that the old model didn't work out as they had hoped.

Like I said, maybe I'm just a bit too hopeful about this. I want the Vita to do well and while it does feel like most of the effort is coming from SCEE and SCEJ I'd like to believe SCEA still cares just a little bit.

That's the point SCEA gave up on the thing after those bundles. SCEE & SCEJ is still putting some effort.

I think you might have misinterpreted what I posted. I meant to phrase it as "I didn't know they weren't advertising the Vita because I barely see advertisements for anything these days." Totally understood where you were coming from (unless I'm misreading your post lol?).

I don't own Rayman legends yet so I'm not sure how the leaderboards work. Are they cross platform? If that is the case, it is most likely hacking. If not, I'm not sure. Some YouTube videos have people doing the challenges in 18ish seconds though.

Nice tips (especially the bolded), thanks. For now, I'm loving the simple mindset of "digging for ore/cool stuff by day; working on my house by night". Would be good to get a Vita Terraria thread going to share advice, stories and multiplayer games. I want to build.

This also seems off. I'm not pro, but I was getting most Lums that spawned in today's challenge and it took me 35.xx seconds.

Yeah, in my opinion the Vita was already as good as dead before it even launched in the west. The first report of sales numbers from Japan (after launch week) had the bad press going on and the momentum was already against it.
Heck, one of my brothers told me ~3 weeks after the Japan launch that he can't understand why I would buy this failing platform and he is as casual as it gets and only reads shitty newssites.

Combined with the shrunken market, it didn't even had a fair chance here with all those "NO GAEMZ" and "ALREADY DEAD" memes.

Showed the Vita to some of my friends and KZ blew their mind. Unfortunately, nearly everyone here only cares about PC gaming but they don't even own good ones.

Okay it sounds good, will definitely check it out properly. I am of course worried it's a bit simple with the jump and slide but it's so popular I'll definitely give a demo a try or watch some more videos. The artstyle does look fun too.

Oh, my friend, make no mistake. It's not as simple as it seems. Uses all four directions on the dpad, all four face buttons, and the right analog stick (I may even be missing a couple of buttons). It gets pretty crazy.

^ Sounds good! I saw your excited post earlier about it as well, part of why it's on my radar to begin with, will try and save some cash and make some room on it on the card...back to the regular sacrifices now ;)

Thanks for all the detailed tips! Are you getting the game next week?

I did some checking and saw the grey dungeon-ish blocks on both sides that the soul eaters come out of so I think you are right about corruption on both sides. I have it saved nice at the anvil ready to check out what I can make and prepare for the next day...waiting for some trees to grow back - tempted to make a new world and farm it :P

Btw I hate how that works about the rooms not having wooden floors...but I have so many other (empty) ones built already I figured I'd just keep it like this, will be nice as an eventual tunnel base.

I'd like this too, hopefully it will pick up some more steam on tuesday when the US store updates at least although I guess...someone else :P could make a new thread? Bit lazy...

The PS3/360 community thread hasn't been active for months? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=528891&page=6 Is that the right one? It's really lovely on Vita :0)

I know VanWinkle will crack not too long from now, wonder how long it will take frost.

Btw Takao, the fps in RR is pretty solid and with the gold and silver pass you get 9 tracks iirc that are reversible, although the campaign isn't as great as previous ones and still a bit limited (and doesn't involve the new tracks much, if at all - can't remember). Online is good though, especially with ghosts.

Vita sales are down nearly a staggering 70% year over year in November. Clearly becoming the indie port and remote play machine hasn't worked as well as their last "failed" attempt.

Declining sales typically go hand in hand with a declining active user base, and with such a small user base I begin to question if anyone will even be able make money on Vita. Companies like NIS, XSEED, Aksys, and Atlus didn't exactly have huge success stories on PSP, and that's a platform that sold 20 million units in the US. Vita has hit 2 million.

Man that's depressing. New vita owner here and I hate to see this. Really like the device.

Well Vita titles tend to do better digital correct? And you have to factor in during the PSP time piracy was a big issue. Everyone I knew had a modded PSP.

Next-gen hype is probably going to kill Vita interest for a while on the whole I bet. That will be the main focus and it's hard for most people to consider something else after such a big investment.
Give it time guys, still very early in the generation and the convenience is the secret most next-gen thing so there is still promise and chances for promotion down the line.

A few of those top 100 currently active steam games are making their way. Obviously they aren't all killzones but it's nice to see them rank up there.

Next-gen hype is probably going to kill Vita interest for a while on the whole I bet. That will be the main focus and it's hard for most people to consider something else after such a big investment.
Give it time guys, still very early in the generation and it's the secret best nextgen device :P

Vita still ain't 2 years old and this may be a very prolonged Handheld gen.

There's time yet.

Vita is done and Sony will be crazy if they waited more.

look at Microsoft and OG Xbox --> 360 jump, that the way to do it when you already no losing anything and can't sell much. end your system cycle early, make a new one early, and release it first, take full control of the market.

the ideal scenario here will be if Sony take Tegra 5/6 (as powerful as PS3/360) and make a PSP3 avoiding all Vita mistakes (cheaper, regular flash memory, full control layout..ect) and use money (from PS4 sales lol) to secure big deals all over the regions starting with lets say GTA, MH and DQ (again Microsoft 360 style) to take back the market and gain trust again.

waiting on Vita and a miracle recover is pointless at this point business wise.

After a break for some retro-inspired gaming on my GCW Zero and Gameboy Advance, I've been back on my Vita for Blackgate and (finally) Dragon's Crown... Blackgate was fun, and I can forgive that it's not the console game because Batman on a handheld and stuff, but Dragon's Crown is the real surprise... I was thinking it would feel pretty much like Golden Axe with a couple RPG elements thrown in for fun, but it's much deeper than that. I was kind of put off by the art style in the pre-release stills, but the game in motion is a thing of beauty and the exaggerated characters really work within the context of this environment. I'm loving it...
