I wish I could play Persona 4 for the first time again. Enjoy!

gawd damn hype me more bro I started DDS1 yesterday night with about two hours of progress. Pretty good so far. Heat is a dick tho.
Nocturne came out before this and that had the sensor for encounters so it's an odd omission. Maybe it'll show up again later.
Heat is a major dick. He hasn't gotten better for me so far (I'm twenty-ish hours in).
Aw man, I try to avoid getting hyped up in case of crushing disappointment, and you're not helping. D:

My first was person 3 years ago when i had a PS2. I'm about five hours into P4 Golden. I knew what I was getting into, but you have to kinda give yourself time to get used to everything. After a couple ours, it's easier to to find yourself in a groove, knowing what to do and when. I'm now caught up in this the same way I was with P3, and on a handheld? It's glorious.
About to start Recettear: an Item Shop's Tale.
Capitalism, ho!
Star Ocean 4 and I'm frustrated.
The combat and item system in that game is incredibly fun - starting on the second playthrough. The first playthrough is so easy that every single nuance of combat or item creation is completely pointless. Get max regen bonus, pick a strong special, spam it and you win literally every single fight without much of any problem whatsoever. If you pick up an item go ahead and equip it - if you forget then whatever, it's no biggie. The last enemy required a bit of resurrection/restoration and 20 minutes of patience largely because I had no character who'd ever increased their skill in a healing type skill since there was never any need to. I literally never once used item synthesis.
Now playing through the game for the second time everything is so vastly more interesting. All of the hoards of interesting tactics they added in combat actually start to come in handy, item synthesis is not yet mandatory but certainly extremely helpful, and at the bare minimum I absolutely have to keep an eye to ensure my equipment is in tip top shape. The problem is that I don't really have much left to keep me going in the game anymore. The story, characters, etc are all done with. I unlocked nearly every single character's ending in one playthrough by simply talking to my crew between voyages. All that's left is the combat system and filling out the remaining battle trophies.
Basically it feels empty now. I'm so frustrated that the game's difficulty is gimped by default .This game would easily have gone from "passable" to certainly an upper tier JRPG in my book if the game started on the second difficulty level. In many ways it reminds me of Blue Dragon, although that game only went from somewhat bad to decent with the introduction of the so called "hard mode patch". Such a pity to leave a game feeling so uncompleted. Oh well.
How similar are the Tales Of.... games to Vesperia? Vesperia is the only one out of the entire series I played but I have such good memories of it. I loved that game with my only complaint being long cutscenes you couldn't skip.I'm finishing up Tales Of Xillia (First Playthrough) today.

Dunno what to slot next... Xilla (is it a good Tales game to start with?), Ni no Kuni, FF V/VI or Xenogears.
Haven't played Persona 2 yet, so am thinking if IS or EP to start too.
I also have Tales Of The Abyss 3DS right now, but I don´t really know how I feel about it. I got it because people praised the battle system, but so far it´s been very tough for me to wrap my head around it. Everything about the art style and the characters feels also very generic - the intentionally annoying main character is actually the best one so far. At least he kicks that dumb "mew" or whatever it´s called once in a while. Hopefully the game gets more mechanically interesting later on, that´s really all I want from an RPG - that part where you go into the forest in the beginning was annoying, but a lot of JRPGs start off dull and uninteresting at first, so I guess l´ll stick with it some more. That "generic smart dude with glasses" looks really punchable, though.

Going to start Xillia sometime early next week. I thought about just skipping it for a while but January is such a barren month for new games so I figured I'd give it a try, as I've been a fan of the series for quite a while. I'm not expecting anything great, but I hope I enjoy it.
Abyss starts off really slow but get better and less generic as the story goes on. Battle system gets better too. Also Jade (the dude with the glasses) is not "generic smart dude with glasses" lol. You'll see.
Just gave up on FFIII. After 2 hours to get to the final boss I died, went on to grind for several hours and try again. Got within a couple of hits to finish it off and died. I'm sure in the future I'll go back into it and try again but for now I'm moving on to FFIV.

The big selling point for SoM that's not so evident nowadays is the multiplayer, back then RPGs with coop were rare. How about other similar games of this era e.g. SoE, Illusion of Time, Terranigma, Seiken Densetsu 3? If I wasn't impressed by SoM due to the flaws that I mentioned, is there a chance that I will like more any of the above?
