Someone help me out here, I still don't understand what quick scoping is or why it's an "exploit", "quirk", or "bug". How else do you fire a sniper rifle but by going into ADS view?

I did not know CoD2 had aim assist on consoles because I did not play it on consoles. CoD1 was pretty clean from most of the bullshit outside of the crouch dives being a bit too good. Guess console gamers got started early on that bullshit and it only got worse. I only started noticing it when I bought CoD4 for 360, was a completely foreign concept to me until I noticed that my guy automatically gestured towards enemies when I spammed ironsights. Its most prominent in CoD 2.
Every semi pro match of that game was that gif, though slightly less elegant in execution of course.
Trying to search for the videos just brings up black ops 2 .... Damn the tagging.
Anyway, the scope in the game comes up damn near instantly, and that was the start of it.
You'll have trouble finding people who agree with you.

It's just so lame, and I hope more console shooters have the testicular fortitude to take the training wheels off of FPSs.
Ok i give up lol.
No matter what i search for regarding cod 2 i just get black ops 2 videos, its like the game doesn't even exist anymore.
What i was trying to demonstrate was, even if you for some reason couldn't get the lock in cod2, the scope pulled up so quick you didn't even need to.

Also teeny tiny men with no protection should have zero chance against a walking death robot. So.... guess I'm in the wrong game.
The fact that they have to state this leads me not to believe them. Still looks like CoD to me.
This. I made the mistake of believing KZ:SF was going to be the "go to" FPS of my next gen experience and I ended up trading it in. I'll believe all this hype once I play it.
Iirc Dota 2 leaves a lot of the "clever use of game mechanics" stuff alone as they feel it adds flavor to the game, such as pudge cross map hooks.
Pretty sure it's no longer in the game.
So your saying in the time it takes to master creating a walking death robot, we can not also master a defense against said robots so a teeny tiny man has some protection against it?
Not really wanting to derail the thread, but what's the point of building super expensive mechs if they can be taken out by a guy with a cheap jetpack?
I have a feeling a lot of people are gonna be really let down by this game when it launches.
Not because it won't be good, but because they've built up all these idea of what they think it should be.
At the end of the day I think it's gonna be more CODish than many people are hoping.
Agreed. It seems like the true new Call of Duty to me. But COD4 was a ton of fun at the time, and while I'm not really interested in something like that I can see why people would be, fun and addicting gameplay. But the fact that they decided to not make a campaign because they think people don't care about campaigns, toAt the end of the day I think it's gonna be more CODish than many people are hoping. Still quite different, but at the end of the day it's still mostly gonna be COD with jetpacks, wallrunning, and mechs.

People that are really hyping it up only ended up playing a match or two (20-30min). We'll see if the game holds up after 10 hours or if it just another die/spawn/die shooter.
So it has Mechs and walljumping? Other games had it before and modern military shooters still dominate the market
How quick-scoping is still a thing in Call of Duty in 2013 baffles me. It's an unfixed bug, not a feature.
Good on Respawn.

This and Destiny are the biggest "wait and see" games for me next year for sure.
A lot of hype, yet I'm keeping it in check for these two until they drop and we lay everything out on the table.
this is pretty easy to do2). Have better maps than COD: Ghosts
Unless Destiny brings something truly inovative to the table, it's just going to be compared to Borderlands, and the Borderlands formula can get tiresome quickly (finished Borderlands 2 twice, got about halfway though Borderlands 2)
I would absolutely love it to be CODish if they:
1). Have game mechanics that don't totally change the gameplay but add elements of variety.
2). Have better maps than COD: Ghosts
I don't think there's anything wrong with the Call of Duty formula other than that it hasn't been changed in any meaningful way for years. It's still fun at its core: a fast arcade-y style shooter. No one expects basketball to be totally different every year, why should video game mechanics?

They should get rid of auto-aim as well.
They really wanna distance themselves from their old baby. Good news though.
I thought it was slightly ironic that this game is being branded as a COD killer, anti-cod
requoting myself to try and stop the hype-train
Fast and arcadey compared to what? They've actually slowed the game down even more this year with even more incentives to camp e.g. the Amplify perk. I suppose the kill times are fast, and some of the stupid crap like dolphin diving, sliding, and jumping make it kind of arcadey (along with stuff like regenerating health).
But a game like Goldeneye Wii is a lot more fast paced and "arcadey" than CoD imo, with more of a premium on movement and skill than any CoD game I've played.
Then you have classic arena shooters with longer kill times, but even more emphasis on movement, traversal, precision, etc.
CoD can be better described as a slower, laborious "flanking simulator".
This is good. Now just bump up the player health and I'll be sold.
Indeed close one hit kills are for shotgunsHow quick-scoping is still a thing in Call of Duty in 2013 baffles me. It's an unfixed bug, not a feature.
