Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars Rated M by ESRB

Prelude.

Yeah, they're just publishing but I think if it had dual audio they probably would've mentioned it by now since they obviously know that people want it.

It's Q2 2014, it's probably too early. Didn't it take a long time for Dragon's Crown too?

Having played both JP versions, I can say the Vita version is vastly superior. The graphics are really washed out on the 3DS version, whereas they are vibrant and sharp on the Vita. IIRC Vita version also runs at 60fps whereas 3DS version is 30fps. I would never recommend the 3DS version to anyone with a Vita.
I've only played the demo for Vita, but one thing that immediately struck me was the super-smooth frame rate. It's very pleasant on the eyes.

Yeah, ESRB has been really harsh with the ratings lately. I've beaten Ace Attorney 5 and that is NOT an M game.
They tend to be more sensitive to sexual content too, or at least became increasingly so. DoA 1&2 were T but then from 3 onwards more or less locked into M.

Which version to get though?

I have yet to play a Vita/3DS multiplat that isn't vastly superior on the Vita (there is a reason why such games sell far more on Vita in Japan than on 3DS, despite the 3DS's much larger userbase). 3DS is great for its exclusives, but when it comes to multiplats Vita is the only way to go, assuming you have both systems, of course.

Yeah, probably going Vita now.
Wish their was a streetpass feature; it would have made it a clear decision from the get-go for me.

Original game was on PSP, so it feels like it's more appropriate to go Vita. Plus Atlus has basically dumped manuals on 3DS and that could've pushed me over easily.

I heard the gameplay is top notch (read: Persona-like)
But the rest of the game, and if only the game artstyle not so generic

Is there any flatchested/small breasts character here?

So does this game actually have a decent storyline and depth? I can't believe this game got a sequel, let alone that it is getting localized. Almost tempted to get it because I'd love a new jrpg for my Vita but omg no can't do it lol.

Agreed,If it doesn't have dual audio it's probably an issue on Atlus USA's side rather than Spike Chunsoft's since they've been pretty good about developing games with multiple audio tracks in mind.

(I can't stand moe in English so I hope Atlus USA can work something out.)

Can't believe Atlus is localizing something like this. Guess they must be short on possible titles to localize.

It's kind of a Persona clone so it actually makes sense for them to localize it, they can sell it to Persona fans as something they can play with while waiting for Persona 5.

So moe and b00b material aside....

Anyone played the Jpn version willing to give an impression of the game?

This game went entirely underneath my radar.

I don't currently have a Vita, but will probably get Vita version for future.

Vastly preferred Virtue's Last Reward on Vita over 3DS version.
All them V's. lol

Also, is that a Limited Edition in the OP? or is that just the pre-order version of the standard edition?

Just a pre-order bonus.

Yeah, DoA 1 through 3 were T, but then DoA Ultimate & 4 were rated M (which is weirder by the fact DoA2 Hardcore on PS2 is T, but the Ultimate version on Xbox is M for MATURE Sexual Themes). But in any case, it does seem the ESRB has been more strict over the years, I guess playing it safe sometimes so they don't hear parents complain a game got too low of a rating or something.

The original SNES release of Earthbound was rated E (or K-A as it was called at the time), but the Wii U re-release got a T rating. They definitely got more strict over time.

Huh, you're right now that I check again... and it was T rated again on 3DS. Must be a pixel count thing, made the graphics better in DoA Ultimate or something crazy and arbitrary.

The japanese demo is OK. It's good to see another native res, 60FPS (with drops here and there), colorful RPG.

The battle system is straightforward, but thee trailers shows a lot on allies and enemies. The Star Child customization could be the thing to give the battle system some depth.

Yeah, I'm watching gameplay videos now and the dungeon crawling is channeling Persona 3 a LOT. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, if it is even 1/4 as good as Persona then it'll be an okay game.

Whelp, Atlus is publishing it here in the States, so they must appreciate its quality and have some faith it will serve their audience (again, me). I'm very much looking forward to it. The M rating, doesn't really change my opinion, though, one way or the other.

I wonder if the higher ups just don't see much value in pursuing it? It seems clear that many of the people that interact with the public are aware of this, and sometimes licensing/storage space is just a bitch, but it does leave me to wonder if those calling the shots, especially the developers in Japan, just don't see a point no matter how hard it's pitched and only opt for it if it's very easy and cheap. Then again if the games have a lot of voiced dialogue and they're already a large size that may've undermined it, and frankly I'd take single language but high audio quality over dual language but subpar audio quality.

EDIT: Reported size on PSN is 1.4 GB. Whatever's the problem I doubt it's storage unless that's taken a whole gigabyte or something crazy.

The Japanese vo is half of the appeal. I usually prefer English vo in game, but I don't think any English voice actor have the expertise to carry out materials like this.

BASED Atlus
But I believe in their choice of VA these days, so I don't worry too much about it.
Hmph. Hmmmmmph. Mightily kind of Atlus to announce the localization of this a week after I imported it. Hmmmmmmmph.
You are truly the hero that Neogaf deserve :'(

Since when Atlus ever released dual audio game? I know people will say P4A, but I always thought that game is more ArcSystem than Atlus. I think it just Atlus policy they've been had. Though why they have such policy, I always wondered myself.

They have done it with 3rd party titles, though I need to see how recently and how far back. Also the last few games Chunsoft Spike licensed out here had dual audio: VLR and DanganRonpa, so it's easy to imagine they're open to the idea at the least.

EDIT: There IS Aqua Pazza... which is actually an inversion in that there's no English, only Japanese. Also most of the Sting games had dual audio as I recall.

Aquapazza also has Japanese VO, but that just might be because Atlus didn't want to spend that much on it.

Honestly, at this rate, Square Enix will have a better track rate of dual audio that Atlus will.

Frankly I don't really consider English welcome in most fighters anyway. It's just a lot of yelling and that can be better if you can't understand it, half for charm and half so you don't go mad from hearing things over and over that you understand.

Can I preorder this on PSN already? I hope we get tons of avatars, I love the art.

EDIT: OH MY GOD THIS IS 60FPS??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????????????

I'LL TAKE TWO OF THEM, ONE DIGITAL TO PLAY AND A PRE-ORDER EDITION TO HUG

Is this going to be one of those games I'd be embarrassed to play in public? like is the focus on battling and exploring dungeons or is it just about the T&A with some dungeons thrown in?

I was excited when I first heard this was getting localized, but now I don't know what to think.
