New DRIVECLUB branding guidelines video shows spectacular visuals!

Stop showing us bull shots and release the game already

The fact that this is a free psn title and they have been showing off the same demo for the past 2 years make me think this game will be pretty as hell...and be complete shit in everything else like Killzone

Facts aren't things you make up in your head.

Is blurry brown and gray what passes for visceral, energy, and drama nowaydays? Is there anything left in this world that doesn't aim to make people depressed? Idontwannaliveinthisplanetanymore.jpg

i get real tired of people talking about everything being brown and gray when it doesn't instantaneously and continuously vomit rainbows all over everyone and everything, there's plenty of color in drive club.

It's a full retail title that was announced less than a year ago. The PS+ version has some cars and tracks pulled from it and will only be available for a short time. This isn't even supposed to be a public trailer, just for people who entered a specific contest so they can get the look of their work right.

Very nice graphics.

X360 also managed to pull off some great visuals in Forza Horizon. Just goes to show what developers can do when they cap their games at 30fps.

This still seems more real than Bayonetta 2, so #DRIVECLUB remains at the top of my most anticipated list. Not having this game is my one disappointment with the PS4. I need this game right NOW.

You know, it'd be kinda funny if it's still 30fps. Not saying I'm expecting 60fps, but they kept saying they "almost had it" there, and the games been given a lot more time in the oven. Makes you wonder if all the delays were to get the framerate up.

Were they saying they almost had it? I remember them saying that there was a big debate in the office about whether or not to go 30 or 60.

This games visuals makes me think what a hyper realistic Outrun would look like. The expansive and rich environments, the amazing draw distance reminds me how giddy I felt when I first saw Outrun on a huge screen inside the cockpit of the arcade machine when I was a 10 year old. The game just looks amazing with all the techniques they are using. Hope they get the gameplay up there with visuals.

The top is Project Cars? Wow ...

That looks really ... boxy. No real artistic value there. Look at the background of the DriveClub and the camera and the way the background flows, the draw distance, lack of pop-in, etc. That Project Cars footage looks .. artificial. More went into perfect AA and such moreso then making it LOOK realistic. Just looks off.

Project car has never impressed me except that it looks super clean and has very hires textures. It just looks too sterile and that makes it look fake. And of course it's running on high end PCs to get those visuals. DC on the other looks more realistic.

This is going to be the first true next-gen feeling game for me, and I've played a lot of next-gen games so far. This footage finally has that next-gen feel.

Oh come on. Wonko_C was just being goofy.

Like you said, outside of IQ, I also feel Porject Cars often looks quite flat versus DriveClub. The lighting, shadows, geometry, tree's, textures etc just don't look nearly as realistic or dynamic.

It suffers the same issue the next gen versions of Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed have, which is that despite being lookers, they still look like they're borrowing tonnes of last gen assets and simply bumping them up to 11. Whereas DriveClub genuinely looks completely next gen in comparison.

I agree, building a game from the ground up for next gen is something else. the footage of DC is beyond anything i have seen in project cars.

I really hope I actually enjoy driving the cars in this game, because this and inFamous might be what push me to get a PS4. I'm not a big fan of sim-y racers, but this one is apparently something in between sim and arcade, so I'm really interested to try it out first.

Hopefully they'll have Driveclub available to play at demo kiosks by the time it's out.

There'll be DriveClub demo unit on Taipei Game show tomorrow, but we don't know is it still the E3 build. Will looking forward for the impression.
Strider and Diablo 3 PS4 will be on the show floor too.

Yep. Racers shouldn't be sub-60, it's that simple. Really wish the world in general (be it the digital camera or console markets) would stop chasing resolution and instead focus on FPS.

Eurgh, I'm a better graphics > 60fps guy, so no thanks. To me the improved visuals make more of a difference to my gameplay experience over the extra frames. I will say for some experiences, like beat em ups, sim racers, twitch shooters and certain sports games for example, 60fps is preferable. But still not the be all end all.

Also, the silly thing about your post is this notion that to get 60fps you have to drop the resolution. You don't. You can just drop graphical features or assets and still make 1080p/60fps. Personally the lowest resolution I think next gen should be working with is 900p. 720p in 2013/14 is an absolute joke beyond jokes.

Those are some sweet clips... so how did this whole thing work? The guys developing DC just had a bunch of footage that they released to contestants to make vids from the footage that was available? Man I really wish I heard about this when it started lol... sounded like a lot of fun!

I really don't get how some ppl can claim pCars looks better, I'm not impressed by pCars regardless of Driveclub, it looks alright but nothing breathtaking, you can see it's a cross gen title, By what we saw from Driveclub it doesn't even come close.

I'm 100% sure it's conceptual footage.

1) No, you can't be 100% sure, unless you're working on the game or are involved in the marketing of said game.

2) The small clips posted to Facebook rival the fidelity seen in the video. Whether or not those clips came from a replay mode is undetermined as far as I know, but they most certainly are from the actual game.

Why is it always 30fps or 60fps? If they (or any other dev) can get their games running at a locked frame rate above 30, then why not do it?

Because HDTVs run at 60 (or multiples of) and to maintain a smooth viewing experience you would want to have a frame rate that is either a multiple of, or divisible into the rate produced by the display. I could be talking a bunch of nonsense though, so maybe someone else will be willing to add some knowledge.

I'm really not into driving games (gameplay is rather boring to me), but I do appreciate them for their technical achievements.
Gameplay aside, stuff like GT and Forza always strike me as "sterile" though even if they blow my mind with their neverending struggle to shoot for photorealism, and stuff like NFS or Burnout too "cartoony".
DC seems to hit a sweet spot in between. It's got character, IMO.

We've seen more gifs of this game than actual gameplay footage.

Like half the stuff we've seen so far (there wasn't a lot of it) was straight from gameplay.

I hope Driveclub will be more PGR like than NFS like in gameplay. Big difference even if all you do is pressing R2 and L2.

It is like PGR. Straight from Jamie Brayshaw on their Facebook page, in response to some guy calling it a totally arcade racer:

Lots of people say that that the handling is closer to PGR than GT or Forza, because it strikes a balance between the age old "arcade" and "simulation" archetypes, even though it's actually much deeper than that. The handling team refined the model again just this week - and will continue to do so up to release - so hopefully you'll give it a second go and get a better feel for it.

Time to pick the video apart and nitpick everything and then compare it to Project Cars since it's a DC thread. Oh, and don't let me forget the framerate debate again since some people might need their memories refreshed... :D

I miss PGR and I hope this can deliver half of what PGR4 did back in the day.

This game keeps looking better each time, good to see

Will surely pick up the console for this and The Order at some point this year

Really wish that this niche group of people would realize that 30/60 is just like any other trade off. Different games make different trade offs. I wish would they would stop chasing FPS and focus on image quality.

That's how every FPS post sounds like. We get it, you want FPS, but every snipe post like this sounds like your average port begging on these forums.

Good for you then, your wish is granted in the vast majority of cases! It is indeed a trade-off and one that I oppose. Griping about it in public threads on reasonably well visited boards and, you know, not buying the games is about all I can do to get developers to get the hint.

In short, deal with it.

Announcement of Logitech G25/G27, Fanatech and thrustmaster wheels supportet for PS4 and Driveclub.
Announcement of Sony VR Headset at e3 on june 9th, bundled with Driveclub, due to release 2 weeks later, 500Euro.

Yes, please?

I think #DC and Forza Horizon are the only car games that get colors right. Ultra real and ultra colorful are the only ways to go.

GT under the right circumstances looks super real lighting wise
