Toonami Shows Survivor

I mean I wish every person would post their list

Code:
DBZ
Inuyasha
One Piece
...
...
...
Wulin Warriors
and assign points based on placement.

That kind of ranking list format.
But this is supposed to more of a game. That method is just the same as say, determining GOTY.

Im inclined to agree. Ostensibly, many will vote for what they dont like and try to savr their favorite programs. Like survivor the tv show though, we all know the most talented, popular or winningest person doesnt.always win. The best get targeted and things get backstabbed, piled upon, etc. That's more the purpose of the game I think.

Fighting against a dumb campaign to kill off the show that is synonymous with Toonami and one of the better shows anyway, just because their show (not even an action show on what is supposed to be an action block) got rightfully outed.

DBZ is hardly an action cartoon, they spend half the time talking and powering up instead of fighting. People aren't voting against it because Hamtaro got killed, they're voting against it because it's a bad show.

I am very confused as to why people thought they were playing a different game than they actually were.

The all-time results were displayed prominently and do track the final running tally of all kill/save votes, and nothing in the OP indicated that points were reset between each round.

The fact that there are rounds in itself implies that they are reset in between them.

I thought this was mentioned somewhere within the first page or two.\

Edit: Upon inspection, I haven't been able to locate something. Huh...I swear I remember reading it mentioned. Oh well.

I disagree. The rounds just imply that there's a cutoff for each period where the points are tallied and places are awarded.

I think the fact that multiple people are confused, and that it was left up to implication at all in the first place, means it should have been more explicit in the OP.

Kill: Bakugan - Shitty Yugioh ripoff.
Kill: Duel Masters

Save: Bleach - Doesn't deserve to die along with the likes of Hamtaro
yet.

Were people really having issues with how the voting worked? This is the same format that all "survivor" threads have used to my knowledge + the OP was pretty clear.

DBZ is an awful show for many reasons discussed on the previous page, it needs to die a painful death instead of being viewed through rose tinted glasses. It popularized so much bullshit such as:

- Explaing your attack to the enemy to waste air time instead of fighting
- Nonsensical jobbing from the main characters to prolong story arcs
- Predictable arcs that don't differentiate much from the first one
- Killing off heroes to create drama but providing a 'get out of jail free' card to bring them back from the dead with no real consequences
- Cheap villain trap cards in the form of transformations
- Filler content in the form of extra scenes, inflated dialogue, and non canon arcs that ultimately had no bearing on the overall story

DBZ is the original shitty long running shonen series that suffers a steep decline in quality. People vote for it based on nostalgia, not quality. It needs to be held accountable for its crimes, do the right thing.

#teamanythingbutdbz

I don't disagree from an intellectual level with anything you said but
  • It's been made very clear that quality isn't the only reason people are voting for X
  • DBZ is still better and/or more entertaining than a number of shows still on the list so your quality argument isn't all persuasive
  • Nostalgia/Influence and importance to Toonami are more than legit reasons to vote for something
There will come a time when I start voting to kill DBZ relative to other shows. We aren't close to that time yet IMO though

Anyway MY VOTES:
Kill: Bleach - The show has an excellent soundtrack and some other redeeming features but few shows can bore me out of my skull like this show can. Man was last week's episode bad >_>
Kill: Bakugan - Shitty kid's show is shitty :(

Save: DBZ -for pretty much the same reasons I listed before hand

Kill: Bakugan
Kill: Bleach
Save: Dragon Ball Z - because despite what some people say about it, its not just nostalgia. It has flaws like every anime, but it does not deserve an outing right now when there are worse shows. Its a pioneer of Toonami.

Round 5 voting is now open!

There is no way in fu*king hell I'm gonna let Naruto and Shitpudden get away with a higher spot.

Kill: Naruto Shippuden
Kill: Naruto Shippuden
Save: Yu Yu Hakusho

Kill it because it is the last of the 3 and I refuse to let it get higher on the list.

All the focus on saving and killing DBZ ruined the round and Bleach became a victim. >.>

Also all those that voted to kill Bleach. Congrats, your shows that you want to save are getting 2 kill votes right after Naruto is killed.

I'll start off with the DBZ hate train and move on to Samurai Jack.

Kill: Duel Masters- never seen either of these two, but their elimination seems inevitable.
Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Save: Zatch Bell- don't think its bad enough to be knocked out so early.

Lol. If I hadn't edited my vote bleach would still be alive after a tie breaker.

If there's one thing that can be said about DBZ it that if your not killing it properly, you are only making it stronger. Same can be said for Zatch Bell.

Bleach is really an Adult Swim Action show pretending to be Toonami. Nothing good of Bleach has ever been shown on Toonami.

Kill: DBZ
Kill: DBZ
Save: Duel Masters

I've already explained at length why DBZ is a shit tier show. People are only saving it because it's 'synonymous' with toonami or 'made' the block. That doesn't excuse the fact that it's a terrible show full of one demensional trap card villains, piss poor pacing, plot holes, dragged out arcs, and bad animation. Kai fixes a lot of problems but the original series that aired on toonami is garbage. I challenge one person to come up with a reason that it's good other than 'lol DBZ made toonami cool'

Kill: Storm Hawks
Kill: Blue Dragon - At least one of these shows should go next.
Save: Dragon Ball Z - Gets into the Top 10 solely based on BEING Toonami for a long time.

Kill: DBZ
Kill: DBZ
Save: Duel Masters

Challenge accepted...sort of.

Don't care what people say I still like this intro.

Which you only gave to justify the primary reason you vote DBZ, for shits and giggles.
Uh, pretty sure we've discussed DBZ's numerous flaws because it's a bad show. You seem way too emotionally invested in this whole thing; it's like you take it personally when somebody votes against something you like. One Piece is a perfect example.

Kinda feels like this thread is going downhill. I voted hamtaro to be funny but now it's getting kinda personal with the revenge votes. Just chill and have fun guys.

DBZ has awful filler, like Yamcha and King Kai becoming WWE announcers who have to recap EVERY THING Goku and Frieza do.

Naruto has awesome filler like when Naruto pissed on Ino.

Nostalgia is one helluva drug, meant to be taken in small doses. Overdosing may result in blind loyalty, loss of thought, headaches, and desire to commit violence when attacked.

I haven't even SEEN Dragon Ball Z.

As many times as you state the reasons why Dragon Ball Z is a bad show, your first reason for voting for it was shits and giggles.

DBZ is a great show totally deserving of the number one slot. It is Toonami after all.

That being said this isn't what show is best, it's which show can win at this game of hatred.

I know hating on DBZ is the hipster thing to do, but it really did have some great fight scenes, cool attacks, and memorable/likable characters. The pacing in the anime got pretty dull at times, but speaking outside the realm of this thread, that's more due to Toei than anything you can blame on Toriyama. The only thing Toriyama can be accused of is being formulaic, but that blame is better laid at the feed of Jump's editors.

What I can also say is that DBZ's filler is among the best there is, and the only filler arc it ever had was very short and fairly enjoyable. The same cannot be said of Naruto, One Piece, or Bleach, all of which have less-pristine filler records than DBZ.
