Digital Foundry : Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2 Tech Breakdown - Incredible Realism, Impressive RT, Astonishing Detail

There's something really uncanny valley about this game. Like you have hyper realistic lighting and shading but then goofball fat guys that look like they're out of a cartoon. Strange.

GTA was never intended to be full on realism, it was always meant to stay slightly stylized. Just look at their concept art.

2560 x 1152 if his calculation is correct for a rough resolution count.

Possibly using FSR1 / some kind of spatial upscaler.

Why are you complaining?

Its literally your own fucking choice to buy that TV

Stop acting like an entitled todler
Ah stupid me. You're totally right again. I should've bought a old and used 60hz TV or CRT for this game.

How stupid of me.

Has anyone been able to go through and figure out which segments were "Gameplay"?
Probably not, since the naysayers on here were saying it only looks that good because it was all "cinematic cut-scenes."

I bet him shooting out the window was gameplay, with the camera moved since you can do that in GTAV. An improvement to shooting out a car window too since the previous game only the arm stuck out, now you have full body over the shoulder camera adjustment.

Does this likely mean: 1152p @ 30fps with FSR1/2 to 4K on base PS5?

If so then no chance there'll be a 60fps mode on even the Pro.

At best a 40fps mode.

its based PS5, right? They have not talked about PS5 PRO.
It seems Sony has the marketing deal with them. So no, they have not talked about anything yet, but I do expect a blog post closer to launch to highlight Pro features. If there is any game that you want to move that box with, you go all in as a hardware maker with this one.

I'd also wager that Pros will be harder to come by around the game's launch.

Many have said this before but the part where Jason enters the house really seems to be where it will transition into gameplay. A character model that detailed ingame is superb.

This is Take2/Rockstar, do you want to bet?

The "cheaper version" will be current prices now, since this game will probably be $80-$90 out of the gate. Which means those "cheaper key sites" will get that $10+ increase as well. Congrats, you are not paying today's premium with the illusion of a "discount." at launch.

That +$10 increase should still be cheaper like always.

I'll take a stab:

0:23 - About to switch over to control Jason.

0:33 - The jerkiness movement of the arms looks like gameplay. Not fluid enough to be a cutscene.

0:38 - Kind of hard to say but this feels like in GTA V when switching characters, a character was in the midst of finishing up something and then you take over. This feels like that here. After his reps are done, it's possible that you take control of Jason.

0:41 - Jerkiness again to where it feels like about to take control of Jason. Homeless guy's movements outside the store also feels like a gameplay sequence.

1:37 - Jason in the car - his mouth doesn't move naturally like it does in cutscenes. Stiff, which suggests gameplay.

1:53 - This could be a special skill rather than a cutscene. Again, Jason's movements suggest it's an input command you did here to shove the guy into the car. Just a guess.

1:57 - I want to say this is gameplay for Lucia. It reminds me of the Matrix UE5 Tech Demo back in 2021. Perhaps Rockstar is taking advantage of graphical fidelity similar (or even greater) than this.

2:07 - Look at the black guy on the right. Not cutscene fluid. He moves like how an NPC would during gameplay.

2:28 - Hard to say, but the Bike's fire from the back looked gameplay-ish.

Based on my conclusions, it looks like a majority of the 'gameplay' shown is from Jason.

Edit: Watching some of the DF Analysis and they zoom in on stuff early on in their video showing what looks to be movements of characters outside of cutscenes.

What? $10 cheaper is not cheaper??
I'll let you in on a little secret. I have not paid full price for a game, even at launch, in over 10 years. More so on consoles. Their ever shifting rewards programs were always super lucrative, and still are. RDR2 Ultimate for $9 instead of $99 preloaded and ready to go on the PS4 for day 1. And this one will probably be the same since I have so many points banked.

It's an old and tired narrative. Let it retire.
