Prolific port studio says any 60fps Xbox Series S game will ‘easily port’ to Nintendo Switch 2

…assuming you are not going to be over the limits of the CPU in that title is a relatively big asterisks.

The same studio says the CPU is barely faster than the PS4's Jaguar CPU and XSS has a much faster per clock CPU running at about 2x the clock speed (Jaguar vs Zen 2).
I think part of the reason for the 60fps qualifier might be because running that game at 30fps on a Switch would require half the CPU power.

Don't forget to add another 10 to 20 bucks to the price of the game for no goddamn reason.
You make it sound like you not foaming at the mouth at paying full price for 7 year old ports just to play them on the go.

Heck if you close your eyes and pretend that the Steam Deck doesn't exist one might just be able to justify these absurd prices assuming your only goal is to play these games on the go.

The Switch did inevitable become a Port Station Portable + Nintendo games on top so I expect a Port Station Portable 2 to be a thing again.

A lot of people seem to have this weird mentality that "if it doesn't appeal to me, then I don't understand how it can appeal to anybody."

Like, it's not that deep, for some people convenience and portability trump graphics, and most of the market just doesn't care about Steam Deck or other PC handhelds.

I guess I could play games on my iPad Pro. It has the best screen, and is the fastest of all of my computer devices. But for games, I do prefer Nintendo.

Personally I only play games nowadays because of certain games that Nintendo make, with a few third party games as a bonus or variation. I would have stopped playing games years ago otherwise, if not Nintendo managed to pull me back into the gaming space time and again with another Zelda, Advance Wars, Animal Crossing, Mario, Donkey Kong or something new from Monolith Soft. So power does not really enter into the equation as anything more than it is nice to have more power and I had to have the Switch 2 in order to play Nintendos new games in the years ahead. But only power without Nintendos games, no deal.
I had a friend at college more than a decade ago that was a dudebro graphics whore who's identity was based on shitting over the Wii and how much better PS360 were, etc.

We talked recently after so many years and he's saying the same exact things you're saying lol. He's mad at Sony since the PS4 gen and is basically a Nintendo worshipper because they are "the only true gaming company these days".

It's incredible how much things have changed since 7th gen...

That's exactly what he said, if it's very GPU dependant then it's gonna be a direct port with maybe some feature set down and will perform at the same frame rate, if it pushes CPU too much at 60 fps, it can be petted to Switch 2 without much issue at 30 fps, but if it pushes CPU at 30 FPS then it's gonna be very difficult to port to Switch 2. But in that case even PS5 Pro will be limited to 30 fps so imo only ideal to play those on PC.

The switch visuals are not better. It has better image quality due to the DLSS but the settings are way way worse. The fps is also not the same at all. It still drops in docked mode, just not as low. Also, I'm pretty sure the switch 2 version has a memory leak. The more you play, the worse the performance gets.
Lol , even digital foundry agrees it provide a sharper images over series s. The mem leak is some next level bs. I can confirm this is NOT the case. Games runs it target fps most of the time. Like 90% of the time. Just like with series s

The future of gaming!!!! Now we get handhelds at full 1080p!!!!!

Switch 2 is going to age so horribly.
Na... we are at the point of diminishing returns with graphics. It's only the niche core hobby gamers that will notice any differences. The masses will simply buy and enjoy the Switch 2's ports.

Series S's max recorded in some independent testing is 74W.

  • Shut Down Energy Saving Mode: 0.4 W
  • Sleep Mode: 10 W
  • Navigation Mode: 28 W
  • DVD Playback: Not available
  • Blu-Ray Playback: Not available W
  • Streaming HD: 28 W
  • Streaming in UHD: 31 W
  • Active Gameplay: 74 W
What are the chances of a portable Series S happening?

I'm baffled why anyone would play anything but Nintendo first party on a Nintendo console.

Do you just enjoy playing the shittiest versions or something? If it's the portable factor then even a steam deck oled is better bet. Otherwise ps5 or pc for all third party offerings is the way to go.

The NS2 is to play Nintendo games and I imagine most Nintendo offerings will be 60fps.
This is the perfect example of why some on here simply do not get it. Outside of core hobby gamers who are obsessed with graphics and framerates nobody actually cares. The simply buy games for a console because they are available. Then play and have fun. They simply do not look for all this stuff. That being said the main driver for any Nintendo console it's their own first party software. But some variety is always welcome and with Nvidia's DLSS it's going to be more than capable.

Because not every genre is represented on the other consoles. Neither Xbox or PlayStation have a decent selection of rhythm games, switch does. A lot of them are either ported from arcades or mobile which require touch control input which is why switch has them.same with bullet hell shmups, I go where my fave genres are and this time it's on switch.
