Should be fun, the first movie was good! And using the Galaxy theme should allow for some crazy stuff.
I don't know about that, Nintendo doesn't like rehashing the same concepts for the mainline 3D Mario games (except for Galaxy 2). And there was no game to tie in with the first movie.
I would be happy if they did do it though.

Galaxy (1) is still the greatest 3D Mario game and competes to be the greatest overall of the franchise to date.
And by far the best story. I hope they stick closely to the feeling of the game, particularly Rosalina's emotional backstory, and cut down on the constant dumb quips that would undermine it.

I prefer 2 over 1 but they're both 10/10 games for me.
The next movie being Galaxy has me really excited for it, I hope they knock it out of the park and the easiest way to do that is to make sure you keep in music from the games. If the climax of the movie doesn't have Gusty Garden Galaxy theme then what are we even doing?

First Mario movie was great because of one man.
