There's plenty of good ones out there, this just ain't one of them. Why is it so difficult to make a good video game movie?
I liked Silent Hill 3; I enjoyed its 3D effect... Maybe because I consider the third installment to be the best in the franchise. The first movie was okay. The second was an abortion. This one looks worse so not surprised. Wish they'd just leave the IP alone tbh
Silent Hill fan, horror game and movie enthusiast and absolutely hated it.

Just maria? As soon I saw James and that guy's acting I knew it was going to be bad.Seeing Maria made me lose hope. This director was the wrong guy all along.
I mean they used music from the games in the first movie and it do any good. Just took you out of it by having songs that didn't match what was going on at all.just got out of the cinema
fuck it was bad. How the fucked this shit up I dont know
also the soundtrack is straight TRASH
TRASH!!!!!
Why the fuck could they not just use the OST from the game ? FML
What ending did they follow? You may mark it as spoiler.
Not sure how his opinion is received around here but Angry Joe thought it was ok. Not quite as good as the first one ( which he thought was ok) but much better then the second, but it was not a glowing endorsement:
Mexico is irrelevant. It's seems this will be the Concord of videogame movie adaptations![]()
It seems to have been well-received in Mexico... Well, I couldn't care less what Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert, or YouTubers think... I'll see it this weekend.
Is it irrelevant? Did you know it's one of the most important countries for the international market of any media outlet? It's not for nothing that SNK was saved thanks to Mexico.Mexico is irrelevant. It's seems this will be the Concord of videogame movie adaptations

Someone on Reddit said that the Silent Hill HD collection is now the 2nd worst way to experience Silent Hill 2 lol.
Laura & Angela are now fragments of Mary lol. Apparently Abstract Daddy has Mary's head at some point. Pyramid Head screams for some reason? Maria is killed by Pyramid head as usual, but then never appears again. The cult is involved and that's why Mary is sick cause she's the head of the cults daughter and they drugged her making her sick. She also asks for James to kill her. Ending is in water, but Gans decides to introduce the loop theory in a ham fisted way
Better than this? Yes, absolutelyAre we pretending the original was well received?

Directors often say things like releasing a movie into the world is like having a child. It must suck to be a director and release a movie you are proud of then have the critics just say its silly horseshit and it has like a 4 percent on rotten tomatoes lol
Are you meaning the original SH movie, or the game Silent Hill 2?Are we pretending the original was well received?
It was for reasons I'll never understand. Are we pretending the original was well received?
I remember the very bad reviews, ironically the reviewers was saying they didn't expect much "given the source material" yet praise everything that was actually lifted from the games, even pointing out that people laugh in the viewing because Rose walked into a classroom table.... watching this scene for myself, it looks like a natural, realistic stumble when turning around in a rush, but for some reason this was criticised and made fun of, don't get me wrong the film does have problems which I mentioned in a bitIt was for reasons I'll never understand.
I do actually think the original is a decent film with some glaring problemsBetter than this? Yes, absolutely

It could just be that Mexicans, you included, just have really poor taste. Just a thought. It seems to have been well-received in Mexico... Well, I couldn't care less what Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert, or YouTubers think... I'll see it this weekend.
The OG movie was praised for it's production desing/art direction and that's about it.I remember the very bad reviews, ironically the reviewers was saying they didn't expect much "given the source material" yet praise everything that was actually lifted from the games, even pointing out that people laugh in the viewing because Rose walked into a classroom table.... watching this scene for myself, it looks like a natural, realistic stumble when turning around in a rush, but for some reason this was criticised and made fun of, don't get me wrong the film does have problems which I mentioned in a bit

The whole ending is shit, they simplified it with with explanations.
And there was waaayy to many people living in Silent Hill, I understand they was pushing the Occult theme from the original but they didn't need a whole village of them.
The acting was another thing, it dips between decent and Sci-fi TV show quality, and the script wasn't very good.
But it's still a decent film I think is worth watching if you're a fan of the game or this time of horror, it's a got a lot good stuff but it's been put together wrong and could do without a few scenes and Hollywood ideas.
The Film
Now if I was the director/writer
I would have made SH2 a direct sequel to first film and got back Sean Bean as the main character (the films version of James) looking for his wife( Rose) who he is still haunted by and is convinced she is still there.
So it would be similar to SH2 but different, with a ending that changes what you know about the first film and (explains why Pyramid Head was in the first film too)
It definitely could be better.
He has had enough chances. And I really want to see the director's effort in adapting the video game, which is complex in its entirety. But yes... It's sadly the worst of the three.
I don't believe anything that YouTuber says; he's always been an arrogant, starving beggar.
Isn't SH4 weirdly convoluted?I also feel that SH4 is the only one that would work as a movie and not be too simple for fans nor too obtuse for new audiences.
Yeah, it certainly wasn't winning any awards, but it was a LOT better than Revelations for a lot of reasons. Better than Return to Silent Hill as well. For the longest I thought it was one of the best video game films. But it was far from perfect, haha. Are we pretending the original was well received?
Agreed. Basically like the new Resident Evil movie coming out that will likely be the best one yet, at least I'd assume. Cregger has made some pretty solid films. Knowing this is how the "Silent Hill 2 adaptation" panned out, I would've MUCH rather have had an original idea. Now we've just seen bastardizations of the first three games, might as well do 4 at this point too, lol.It would have been better make original SH story takes place in Silent Hill.
It's reason why good adaptation like Cyberpunk Edgerunner worked. It gives creator the freedom to make the story they want while expanding the world of the IP they adapting.Agreed. I mainly mean the concept of a guy being trapped in his apartment where something is deeply wrong with it, and whenever he leaves it he's in "hell".Isn't SH4 weirdly convoluted?
This is one of the reasons why I liked the original Paul W.S. Anderson Resident Evil movie so much. It could fit within the lore and everyone but one person in it ends up dead. What they did afterwards is what screwed up continuity and upset R.E. fans. It's reason why good adaptation like Cyberpunk Edgerunner worked. It gives creator the freedom to make the story thye want while expanding the world IP they adapting.
For now... Because he lives off likes. He doesn't know how to do anything else... He doesn't work. He's definitely not starving.
