Return to Silent Hill Movie Reviews - Generally Unfavorable

Not sure how his opinion is received around here but Angry Joe thought it was ok. Not quite as good as the first one ( which he thought was ok) but much better then the second, but it was not a glowing endorsement:

Angry Joe also gave Star Trek Academy a 7/10... even OJ and Alex giving 1/10 and he pretty much ignored their opinions.

He hasn't been relevant in a hot minute.
He killed it when he let people use his channel to stream and too many inclusions of different people when he was the only interesting one. Was.
Also, little by little the stick got old and he blended in with others doing the same shit.

As a local movie medium hater and a huge fan of silent hill I give ot a 6/10. Not exactly good but definitely not as rock bottom horrible as others paint it to be. People are obviously pissed at some key plot changes and ,while I thought some of them were unnecessary other, ones kinda worked, even to the point if trying to patch some plot holes of the original (what was Laura doing in Silent Hill?). Keeping in mind it's a movie adaptation of a game story it was ok. Wanna see a real bad one go check the second season of the last of us. Also my GF who is into D tier horror films like the Conjuring said it was fun so there is that.

It was OK, I like they included a lot of the music from 2, but not enough boss fights at all, e.g abstract daddy and Eddie were pretry much non existent. Eddie was in it for like 2 mins?? There was no guns or shots fired?
The ending was interesting that they went for that one. Personally I would have gone for a different ending from the OG game.
The whole Maria lift scene was strange and didn't have any impact at all like the game did.

Also the first person parts,(I think there was 2 bits )were weird. Why?this is based on sh2 not 4.

Overall 6 out of 10.

One of the reviews I saw said that this movie has set back video game movies a good 20 years, which feels true. One of the worst, most confusingly edited, movies I have ever seen. It both alienates game fans and also is a confusing, disjointed mess that newcomers will not be able to digest either.

Having Angela and Laura also be parts of Mary is one of the most unnecessarily stupid deviations.

Bro ...

They really gave this MFer a dollar store beard for a multi-million dollar movie and thought no one would notice ..

I'm just out the cinema now, the morbid curiousity got the best of me.

Absolutely fucking awful, Christopher Gans and Konami should be ashamed.

I can just imagine the situation: you're taking an exam to get certified... Konami gives you the answers, tells you what to learn...

He even took the exam... and even gives you lessons...

And Gans is the one who's going to take the exam, he already has the answers... AND HE STILL FAILS. 😂😂😂

Nothing in the trailer comes off as too offensive. Where does the actual film differ?
It's a very boring movie.

There are no action scenes.

The characters are wasted.

There are no fights, no iconic fight with Eddie.

They change James's personality... It's like that Simpsons episode with the character Poochie.

They change the characters for the worse.

It was so boring that I fell asleep several times.

But if I expect nothing but background SH themed eye candy, does it deliver? I was just going to put in on in the background while I shitpost on X.

What a shame this movie was. It did things just good enough to make me care but fell apart so hard that it ended up hurting badly. This is like some Phantom Pain shit all over again.

I did not like the so many changes, so different from the games lore, and even that cult membership of mary twist. I dont like the ending , reset mode. Nothing is even scary or threatening. No big fights against monsters. Even fights with abstract daddy and monster version of mary is missing. Both just appeared but no fights.

This film is just fucking offensive. So many cardinal sins committed. Even with a longer cut, I'll probably be even more pissed off. Nothing changes the way this film plays out or that completely bullshit plot twist at the end about identity. The letter to James from Mary was all wrong. I hated it.

It completely misses the point of SH2. Gans does not understand the game at all, either that or he played it very drunk and has shat together his "vision" of what he thought he played through.

I went in expecting it to be bad, but holy shit it's so much worse. It's insulting.

The only single redeeming thing I guess is that some of the camera shots are good. The rest is pure, uncut feces. CGI is terrible, to the point of parody. The acting is awful. James mopes around like a depressed teenager. What they did with Angela/Laura/Eddie is a fucking travesty and again proves that Gans does not understand the story at all, this doesn't even begin to touch on what he's done with Mary and the ending. It's like he's intentionally misrepresenting all the key elements just to annoy the fans. Or at least it feels that way.

At least we can now say that Silent Hill 2 two "all time's", best remake of all time and worst movie adaptation of all time.
