Bad timing for this comment when the current administration just had a press conference shitting on the Supreme Court (protector and interpreter of The Constitution) and putting in orders to defy its ruling.

Both parties stretch the law and ignore The Constitution when it's convenient and politically expedient for them. That's always been the case. All recent presidents have also tried to consolidate power in the executive branch as much as they could get away with. However, they all aren't equal in magnitude. This current administration is committing violations left and right against the first, fourth, fifth, and fourteenth amendments. Surprisingly enough, they even recently threw the second amendment under the bus when it was politically convenient for them.

Putting aside the false presuppositions like the bogus "sweetheart deal" myth and a slew of others:

It counts the death of 76, 77 and 78 year old men, the death of a 60 year old man with cancer, 2 drug overdoses (at least one of which comes from a self described schizophrenic with an admitted drug problem), Giuffre's suicide (after 14 years of alleging pedo sex crimes by the "elite") and the fucking death of Steven Hawking at 75 as "mysterious circumstances".

Most people connected to Epstein (excluding his victims of course) are old - Epstein himself would be 73 now.

Lex Wexner is 88, if he dies next week (officially) no one will suspect that his death wasn't natural.

So my most MAGA of MAGA ex friends reached out to me this weekend, it seems he red pilled himself and somehow all the chips fell into place and he is now convinced Trump is a pedophile child fucker who lies as often as he breathes. I was honestly speechless, guy wants to be friends again but I still need to process this....lol, I mean I'm glad but also not sure how to repair this relationship because we had a very ROUGH falling out over politics...

Never ever, talk politics with friends - or anyone else for that matter, it's something as divisive as religion that only leads to bad relations.

I have a friend that wouldn't shut up about some...very specific things to which I said " I like you bro, you like me too so from now on, you and I won't be talking about anything political anymore as to keep our friendship going".

It's as simple as that, it's a shame destroying a good friendship about things that are literally out of our hands.

It will never fail to baffle me how people let a guy like Donald Trump completely change their disposition and perspectives to such an extent.

But at least he's willing to reflect and change i guess

On one side you have people making shit up, using Ai and trying to get more subs/likes/money on this Epstein case, on the other hand we have people like you with "nothing to see here" message.

Truth is in the middle, we know that horrible shit happened on this island and they only tried to punish two people for it, when in reality dozens were involved and nothing bad will happen to them.

With proper investigation, arrests of key figures (some of them are in current Trump administration) and correct punishment for anyone involved with child rape and trafficking - public backlash would have been much smaller. What current US administration shows is laughable, Pam Bondi should be independent but she clearly is a puppet and Trump holds the strings...

It used to be for a long time "politics as usual" where we would have different views but the core values were similar. I think having core values is critical for a close relationship, which this guy kind was.
Given what's been happening I don't think people can just "agree to disagree" and "it is what it is". People are literally divorcing over the realization of how different their values are.

That was kind of the disturbing aspect of the whole situation. He became a bit fanatical and would aggressively oppose any criticism of Trump, to the point that he was constantly on guard.
I think the core problem is he comes from a rather religious/right leaning family, and I think because they went hard MAGA it's almost like he had to do it as a means of survival.
I don't know what compels people to "worship" someone so much, perhaps if you've already conditioned someone to believe in a God, worshipping/unchecked belief is just second nature. No surprise that religion is often used as a form of manipulation/control.
I think what finally broke the dam for him was the pedophelia and massive coverup. He's in a tight spot right now because his whole family is still on the Trump train and they are very vocal about it.
I'll probably work on reconnecting slowly, I think many folks are waking up to the insanity they've been duped into for the last decade or so, so likely they need support and not animosity or "I told you so".

Which is wild to me considering that his religion has a fairly conspicuous commandment about not worshipping false idols. But who has time for rules when they get in the way of feels.

Thats not always possible.

There are some things that are very easy to disagree on, fundamentally they won't change much.

There are other things that make me view you as a different person entirely if you hold those views. I think everyone has those, whether they are willing to admit it or not.

Im a person of faith myself and if the Bible has one message its that plenty of men try to be God and most are emperors with no clothes.

Turning away from family is going to be difficult for anyone but at some point he has to decide what his values are and what he is and isn't willing to stand for I guess

Obviously there is a lot of corruption involved any way you look at it. But world #1, the Americans are corrupt for allowing it to happen so long under their noses and not prosecuting because it was embarrasing or something. World #2, the Americans are corrupt because they ran it and therefore protected it.
