What's up with thething? My wife and I were like "what the heck is that"clothes pen
I thought it was some extreme BDSM type shit but people on Reddit seem to think it's about keeping an erection. So, I dunno, I guess like Jake said 'wat'.

My wife thought it was the diaper thing.I think he wear a diaper. James Franco mentioned the dude's mom so it only makes sense.
why is this thread so short
I'm really enjoying the show though I wish I could binge. It also makes me really want to read the book but I might wait a bit after the show finishes.
I wonder what would happen if Franco brought somebody into the future with him.
I watched the first episode of this and was really annoyed by the whole "time fighting back against you" thing. I would be much more interested in examining the butterfly effect stuff in a more "realistic" way. (Yes, I realize I'm asking for realism in a show about a time traveling pantry.) I don't think I will continue watching.

Yeah, I am trying to figure out was it at the tip or at the stem?
Basically, in the book, he used a broom in the middle of the bed, separating them, so they never have to touch. And would freak out if Sadie would even touch the broom (or him).
My first post in this topic, so:
- I've read the book, and I'm really not enjoying all the liberties they took in the series. So many things have been altered. Some I understand, it is easier to show, and makes for better viewing.
- But some are straight up revisionist:Some more changes bother me, but I feel it woukd be merely nitpicking...in the book, Oswald is undoubtedly a lone gunman throughout, with de Mohrenschildt and a couple of other Russian expats being there more because of Marina (one character not in the series is in love with her and helps her financially). Here they doubled down on CIA conspiracy, not present in the book.
In the series they found it necessary to play the racism card with Mrs. Mimi being black. I don't know if there is some rule about needing to have tacial diversity in the series.
However, the entire series (4/8 episodes watched) gives me the feeling of the production having about 20 hours of script and tape, which they than randomly edited down to 8 hours, trimming or skipping entire segments or characters. That is why some characters seem so underdeveloped, with some acting really weird outside the grander context.
And unless they completely scrambled the book's timeline, 90% of high school setting is left on the cutting room floor (the importance of dancing, the drama class-football team story, etc.
I can't be objective anymore having read the book. Had I not, maybe I would be able to enjoy the show for what it is. But, since I have read it, the series is merely a typical Stephen King adaptation - an exercise in missed opportunities.
If I had to rate it, it would be a generous 6/10 at best.
1. This OT is only 4 pages what the hell this show is amazing, I guess many people aren't watching.
2. What's a clothespin?
For your second question, I think it's funny how no one knew what they were talking about. Did they think we would?
Google's telling me that in order to keep boys from playing with themselves, parents would pin a clothespin on their ding dong. The diaper theory doesn't make sense to me.
As someone who is really enjoying the show, I would stop watching if they did a bunch of random high school drama. I'm in it for the main Lee Harvey conflict and Sadie story. A bunch of high school subplots would be boring and drag the story down.
In regards to Ms. Mimi I think you have to address the racial situation in a period piece set in the 60s. Most peoples view of race is so different now that going back to the 60s it would cause a major culture shock. I think they have done a great job showing how the casual racism affects Frank and his reaction to it, without making him a social activist.
The thing is it's not random HS drama. It's an important part of the time travel dilemma, and it's a signal that the Sadie angle will become very different, losing the main motivatorAs someone who is really enjoying the show, I would stop watching if they did a bunch of random high school drama. Is it men with hats? I couldn't watch Mad Men because of thatI'm having a hard time getting into the setting. I never liked 1960's Americana. I'll give the next episode a watch and see if I can get past this weird hangup of mine.

- Promo for this week's episode.Season 1: episode 5 "The Truth" (Directed by James Franco)
Everything begins to fall apart as Jake struggles to live two lives: teacher and time traveler. When Sadie's life is threatened, Jake has to make a terrible choice, leaving Bill to his own devices. Lee Harvey Oswald takes steps that will lead him into a date with destiny.
I really like the show so far.Too bad I can't binge watch it like most shows on netflix.I just don't get why they didn't release all the episodes.
Because they can get people to pay for two months of subscription instead of one.I just don't get why they didn't release all the episodes.
Not me! It sucks that I have to wait though.Because they can get people to pay for two months of subscription instead of one.
Great episode. But I kept thinking why doesn't he start again, and just try to make better decisions this time around. It worked for Bill Murray.

He has already lost years of his life. You don't get those years back. He would have to waste even more time.
I thought he had only lost 15 minutes or so.
Hulu is owned by the networks so it is run like them.
They still believe in the "watercooler" nonsense from 20 years ago.
Only a few minutes will have passed in the present. So if you go into the rabbit hole at 12:00pm on March 15th, 2016, when you come back out it will be 12:02 on March 15th, 2016. But Jake is still aging, that doesn't get reversed or slowed down. He is three years older than he was when he left, by virtue of having lived in the past for that long.
