The best Cyclops ever was Age of Apocalypse Cyclops. He was a bad guy with brock samson hair. He blew off wolverines hand permanently while wolverine took one of his eyes. That has to be my favorite arc of all time.
Courage had some creepy elements and charm, no dispute here. It was strong enough to last nearly two weeks on this list, which is an accomplishment... but I'm ready to send it off gracefully.
Tiny Toons deserves the boot more than Courage does
I also approve this message. Switching my votes.I'll second that. Although I'm sure I've said it enough... to the point of annoyance.

I mostly agree... but why Arnold? Such a great show....
I dunno I need something to target and I never cared much for it. Then again that's the time period when I switched from Nick to Cartoon Network.

DragonBall Z was just fight after another and they were always the same. Lots of training for the fight, that usually amounts to nothing, since the bad guy hasn't shown his true power yet, and in a pinch the good guys tap into their secret inner powers. boring.
Kill: DragonBall Z
Kill: DragonBall Z
SAVE: Hey Arnold
I second this sentiment; Nuh uh.
I sprinted home from the bus for years to catch DBZ. I imported PS1 games at ridiculous cost, bought absurd Hawaiian shirts, and so many action figures.
It also has better animation than almost anything left on this list, and is the best pure action show. No one in America had ever seen anything like it when it premiered, which is probably why it was a huge phenomenon.
I also agree with this.
X-Men just doesn't hold up well, other than the opening. The opening is still really good.
Kill: X-Men- I just don't think it holds up well. The opening is still a classic though. I also prefer Evolution to be honest
Kill: X-Men
More lies. Looking past some cheesy dialogue it's still fun to watch.I'm up for killing X-Men. I suspect a powerful defense force though. Some people can't look past that shitfest because of all the extraneous merchandise that they drowned their childhoods in. X-Men may just be the Transformers of the 90s.
Are you upset at all that The New Adventures of Johnny Quest didn't make the list? Sure your avatar is for Venture Bros, but at least some of the character design is based off Johnny Quest.

X-Mens real achievement came in its use of serialized storytelling, borrowing some of the comics most epic arcs and either cribbing from them pretty straightforwardly (like the Phoenix Saga) or updating them nicely to mix with the series 90s style (like Days Of Future Past). Most of the episodes were standalones, especially in the early days, but as the series progressed, it ran longer and longer plots of surprising narrative depth, and managed to keep its Saturday morning audience hooked. The show didnt shy from X-Mens classic hallmark of exploring themes of prejudice and racism, and never presented villain Magneto (who seeks mutant supremacy as a counter to Professor Xs dreams of integration) as a one-dimensional baddie.
I wish the show was still streaming on Netflix. People should google "X-Men: The Animated Series streaming" to watch a couple episodes.Yeah, truly. X-Men holds up better than 90% of the other super hero/action shows that come to mind, which is something.
"This one's for you, Morph!"
It's also the longest running animated Marvel show. There's a cool run down and top ten list on AV Club here.
Kill: Gargoyles
Kill: The Tick
Save: Reboot
Probably nostalgia speaking, but Reboot was like, really good, man. Why has Gargoyles survived this long? =/
This round will be all over the place. I love it.
Gargoyles had some of the best writing and themes of many of these cartoons. It was a lot deeper and dark than a lot of shows would even go at the time. It was reallly good.
Let's be 100% honest here:
Gargoyles was good, but this thread is overblowing it a little bit, isn't it? I can't even remember the names of the main characters, and I doubt many could without Googling. Wasn't one of them a dog, basically?
Any social commentary Gargoyles did was probably covered in spades by X-Men, too, for the matter. It was a neat show for the time, and produced very well, but it's pretty long forgotten for a reason.
It depends on how much you think it's being overblown. Was it the best thing ever? No, definitely not, but it's easily better than some are giving it credit for and it's still better than some of the shows left on the list that's being ignored.
As for the points brought up in the shows favor, I don't think they're overblown at all, that show at points was a lot more sophisticated than most cartoons were doing at the time. That's putting aside the social aspects it touches on. The storytelling was what put it ahead for me.
I wouldn't put it in top 10 or probably even top 15, but I definitely think it deserves to be in over a few more on the list. The only reason it isn't higher is because the third season was completely different in tone and scope and was just bad overall. But the first two seasons are top notch and still hold up.

Ok, how is it that people are willing to kill the Tick before Doug? That show was ok, that's it. There are shows that have been voted off miles better than Doug. I mean, it's better than the Disney version (which killed what little personality the show had), and episodes with Quailman were alright, but lets face it, the show is about the life of a middle school student, and how he "sees the world" when something goes wrong. Once you get older, watching Doug is just not entertaining.
Adversely, the Tick has ton of personality in every episode that it had. The show was brilliant. It's heroes were goofy and lovable, and so were it's villains. The writing was magnificent. The plots were goofy and timeless. Everything about the Tick was right. There isn't an Episode I hate of this show.
Damn you Jado, you got my birth year >:|
doug is an elementary school student. he's generally unpopular and confused and in a new town where he doesn't know anyone. he has a lot of insecurity and retreats into his mind to deal with his problems.
in that respect, he's someone you might relate to. i don't think it's a fantastic show, but it was unintentionally funny if you viewed doug as a mentally unhealthy person and no one around him was willing to help him deal with his problems. and there were some actual, genuinely good episodes in the mix. the later episodes with patti were pretty good, and doug's lucky hat is just all-around great.
it's a lesser hey arnold, if arnold was super insecure and didn't have a lot of friends.
Hahaha, it gets the emotions going!God damn, I have received a couple of PM lobbying for changes of votes already. Y SO SERIOUS![]()
Jeez, when's the page going to turn? I've got an update to List Analysis I want to post!
*grumble grumble*

I did like new adventures of Johnny Quest and I was young enough to enjoy it when it originally ran. DBZ didn't air here until mid 00s or early 00s (can't recall) so I never found it all that interesting. If I were younger when it first aired then I might have some feelings towards it. Now? I have no love for DBZ, it's just cannon fodder in way of Simpsons and other better shows. Are you upset at all that The New Adventures of Johnny Quest didn't make the list? Oh the things I have done for DBZ. I would wake up before 6 am to watch DBZ when the time slot was switched from 930 am to 6 am. In the time period that DBZ was removed from the WB and it wasn't on toonami just yet, I bought a ton of VHS' so that I could see what was happening next. Somewhere in my parents basement there are like 30 DBZ VHS.
