NICE!

I haven't seen any of the inventory, character creation, store/dialog menu screens. Are there any out there floating around, or are they really bent on keeping those as secrets for gamers to discover? :)

There are a few in some current issues of some European magazines. PCZone UK has a good shot of the HUD and stats screen.

Why do I want to make hot sexy love to the first screen but not want to touch the second even if I had a few drinks on meÂ…

(Question: Are those trees/grass animated or are they just static stuff?)

animated. They sway with the wind, and are even effected differently by different kinds of weather.

This has moved up to my number one launch title. It just looks lovely.
Does it have multiplay?

On GAF, any screenshot thread will;

-Immediatley two or three replies saying how old the screenshots are while not providing any alternate link as to where they were posted when they were new.
-This will be followed by posts from the art aficionados saying how bad the art is.

There is a ton of people shitting all over threads latley.

Fiddlestick being banned is a good thing.

He got banned? Oh man, finally the bad one liners will stop.

That said, I certainly hope the animation in this game is as nice as the graphics. I also hope I can jump real high again, because that was a lot of fun.

No multiplayer and it's better that way. :)

Thanks. Still getting it. :)

Does anyone know how big is it. Can you wander for miles thru that lush forest etc...

The land mass is roughly 16 square miles, but that doesn't count the over 200 dungeons or the areas of Oblivion you'll explore.

Now i'm moist with anticipation. Thanks.

Are we being banned for posting owls or is this some other reason? I want to post an owl pic that I made of that Oblivion screenshot.

For Christ's sake, no more fucking owls. I'd rather read another one of your threads about how you need help accessing your girlfriend's butthole in bible study.

Yeesh. Tough crowd.
These shots are HOT. C'mon, folks! A new Elder's Scroll game! Everyone seems so jaded these days.

I agree. Most people in this forum should have given up gaming long ago.

Ah, just checked out some scans... Looking good, but I have to wonder: how well with that menu system fare on a controller? Does it work well as is, or will you guys be tweaking things for the 360 version?

I understand if you can't really say much about it yet, but any details you can give me would be appreciated. :)

The menu worked just fine for Morrowind on the xbox. You could only see one screen at a time, and you switched between them. Whereas on the PC if you had a high enough resolution you could look at all the screens at the same time. It worked just fine on a console, though who's to say how it will work on the 360

I may already be nit picking at next gen screens, but the first pic seems to be cutting off the draw distance of grass by about 15-20 feet.

I wonder if the PC version does this.

Yeah, I'm actually playing it right now... It's a little clunky, but it's perfectly functional.

Looks like Oblivion's menu is set-up differently, though, as it looks like it only has one menu screen... Tiny little sliders, little icons at the bottom to click to change what you're looking at. Looks very mouse-friendly, overall, which is why I'm curious.

Do you have a link? I'd like to check it out.

The Oblivion GUI works very well on the Xbox. It was designed from the beginning to look pretty much the same on both PC and Xbox 360, and work well on both.

That first shot is pretty neat. I like the grass, even though as teh_pwn mentioned it does seem to stop after a little while.

That second shot...eh, not so much.

Good to hear. :)

Oblivion looks amazing. This was the my main reason to get a Xbox 360 but after MS dropped the ball with the HDD and pricing. Im just going to build a new PC and playing on there.

They have. But they're just jerks and gaming is easiest thing for them to rag on, that's why they come here. Man, if I was a mod so many people here would be banned.

If they used fogging to cut off draw distance then you might have been able to push it back on PC, and have the game run at 1 fps, but i don't think the pc version doesn't have trees where they are on X360, and actually the console version *should* perform better.

Having said that, i was also starting to wonder about the draw distance and how things will look when you climb up a mountain, for example.

The draw distance here is good, even though you can see where trees start fading in in the distance and i doubt those mountains are modeled structures you can travel to.
Since this shot, though, none of the pictures released has shown us open areas; just forests which do look amazing but where draw distance is reduced by the density of trees and grass...

Steve, can you give us any info about that ?
(heh, i remember when some Fable developer on BBB forums told me its draw distance was an amazing 8km...HAH)

I'm pretty sure everything you can see you can travel to. It was like that in Morrowind and I don't know why Oblivion would be any different.

Well, i am only doubtful because this is an old screenshot (prolly the first screenshot that was released ?) and i am afraid those mountains are just a bitmap put there for aestethic reasons, and are only visible in this pic.
If they're "real", though, then i am truly impressed

Hitler Stole My Potato said:
Again, Morrowind didn't have bitmapped images for it's mountains or anything else for that matter. Everything was modeled. I expect the same is true with Oblivion.

Yes, I know.
I know and i expect the same in the final game.
But I wasn't talking about the finished game, i was talking about that particular screenshot: Maybe those mountains were "added" to that screenshot to make it look more appealing and rich, but won't be visible in the final game. In other words, i don't know how faithful to the real game that screenshot is; my doubts come from the fact this is the first image we've seen of oblivion and i haven't seen those mountains, or such draw distance for that matter, in any other screenshot or footage ever since.

My only complaint about morrowind was the heavy fogging (in my 200 hours experience with the game, i am glad to report i haven't encountered one single tiny bug people always talked about): i think atmosphere - which was already great - would have drawn great benefits from a better draw distance.

Oblivion looks great no doubt ... but the combat scenes in the E3 demo kind of have me scared. Looks really clunky.

But its still the only next gen title that has any interest to me.

*takes 100 swings at mouse, misses every one*

Are the shots we're seeing in engine? Is this representative of the actual gameplay? If so, these are sick.

The one of the guy on the horse is in-engine, but the guy's a static posed on the horse (it's a very early shot.) The PC shots here and the XBox 360 shots here are in order from newest to oldest as you go left to right, top to bottom. But they're all in-engine.
