2 new Perfect Dark Zero screenshots

It's amazing what lowered expectations can do. I have no doubt that the game will look much better in its final form, but I don't see why anyone is floored with this Alpha quality build.

First shot really reminds of of FarCry for some reason ... must be the trees. I agree with a lot of the LOL XBOX1 statements but to be fair it's still a signifigant leap over wallguy.

Who said he was ever removed from the game? Hopefully Rare got rid of that horrible horrible skin and the 3D modeler who made it.

fellas fellas, remember gameplay sometimes triumphs over graphics. But like the rest of you I expect better from next-gen. And we will get it, I'm sure this is just test crap, wait til the videos come out.

Looks better, but I think alot of that can be attributed to blurry cam shots... if we could see the details and thus jaggies, and the real range of colors (as opposed to what a camera gives) we might be less impressed still.

But if it turns out great, great if true.

Nintendo does things that consistently boggle people, but at the same time they always remain extremely profitable, even moreso than most big names. With that in mind I just doubt that they gave up a studio that consistently cranked out sales chart toppers like Rare did last gen. I don't think, especially at this rate, they'll ever regret giving them up, they obviously saw something falling apart and acted on it.

It's all gonna come out in the wash, as they say. MS says that their worth will be shown this coming gen or never, essentially. Without having to focus on changing the platform mid-generation and being on it from day one, I think they'll have no more excuses anymore with this gen. I also think they'll do quite fine.

You know... considering PDZ online will probably feature extensive character customization, you might want to blame a tester or something for Wall Guy. It was probably a user-created character that was unfortunately not created by a professionnal modeler.

Far Cry had 400 trees, not 4.

Well, that'd be nice, if Rare still has the talent capable of pulling off a game on par with their better N64 efforts that is. Between the license changes, rush work and platform swapping for them this generation it's anyones guess.

I don't think MS will be rushing this out however, no matter the case. The opinion of current day Rare is already pretty poor, and having them rush, then botch their flagship original franchise wouldn't bode well for the mindset of people on the subject.

Either way, poor MS has to do SOMETHING with Rare. I mean, fuck, so far they've pretty much just spent 370,000,000 dollars on Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

What they should do is cut down their size and work on one project ala Retro. Seriously when you compare the sizes, and realise that both released 2 games then you realise the amount of trouble they are having. And people even can argue that Retro's games are better.

I think the only thing thats seen major improvement in these pics is the character model. It still has a long way to go, but it is encouraging.

I'll blame the MS/Rare guy who signed off on the screenshots released for public consumption. You can make any game look boring or plain lame if you take the right screenshots. I know that some of it is just because the game doesn't have the final visuals to show yet, but really, it's just plain common sense to make certain that you're releasing the most impressive shots possible to get people excited about a given title. In particular, I clearly recall thinking that whoever took the caps for GTAIII prior to release that were shown in magazines, was pretty good about it. The game itself doesn't look all that great, but the shots they released really were impressive.

Oh yes. Whoever thought "Hey, this screenshot looks nice! Let's release it!" needs to be fired.

You forgot about Conker.

I think the player models look great, at least as good as the GR3 stuff, the problem is the enviroments really look like they were created for the current gen, you can see they've tried to jazz them up a bit with smoke and the domes on the towers but realistically they are gonna have to re-texture the entire thing, the same probably goes for every map in the game. One interview said the game is complete minus the graphics so that means they obviously intend to work on it, but im not sure if 6 months is long enough to do everything they should be doing with the enviroments.

I am getting pretty tired of people saying Rare has lost their graphical touch, just because of this game, One look at conker tells you other wise. The problem is that both Kameo and PD0 are ports, Rare havent been given the opportunity to do what they did on N64 graphically because they've never been given the same opportunity of creating a game from scratch on a new system.

Its ironic that Rares first official port, will be the first game they've made entirely ground up on one system, since the original version of the game they are porting.

Actually maybe GBTG wasnt a port, but thats not nearly as ironic so lets just say it was.

Those screens are NOT impressive, still looks like an Xbox game. After seeing Gears of War I can't believe this is all Rare has to offer. Hopefully the finished product would be much more better.

I think people think this looks like an xbox game needs to be reminded of how xbox games look like in reality(with NOT touched up pics)..

The early response in this thread gave me a real Star Wars 3 vibe, just 'cause what we were previously given sucked doesn't make the slight improvement good.

Looks like shit still, but at least we know that the FPS perspective actually looks decent. I'd imagine they'll be giving the game a complete overhaul, even if it means missing launch, because MS won't let it out the door like this.

I'm more concerned with the artistic side of the visuals myself. Even for a game that was slated for GC then Xbox, much of the character models are poorly done (Wallguy being the biggest offender) and the game as a whole doesn't feel like its going in the direction that I hoped the series would go in (futuristic steal shooter, like Starcraft Ghost meets James Bond in the year 2030), but thats just personal preference.

Look guys, it's pretty obvious that the environments havent been upgraded yet. But you can't posisbly say that the character model is not a HUGE step up from the previous pics. I'd have to agree with a previous poster and say that the model could be reaching GR3 level (its kinda hard to tell given the angle and quality).

It's obviously an incremental process. Don't expect things to go from shit to perfect over night.

Bring on Black, I say. The preview in the new EGM has me pumped, and normally I don't care for FPS's much at all.

I think it looks good, but next-gen? No.

There are two other aspects not apparent in screens: framerate and animation.
Graphics like this and "around" 30 fps would really suck, for example.

and that's unpolished multiplayer screens from an early build that's running on alpha kits @ 30% powah!

Looks nice! Now we'll see how bad PD0 is going affect 360's launch. I always thought it didn't really effect it much, but some people still believe that it hurt 360's perception with gamers 'round the world. 50+ multiplayer online? Rare gameplay? How could it go wrong?

"I really don't get where this "that's multiplayer, single player will look better!" business is coming from. I can't recall any game that looked substantially different between the two. Everyone thought Halo 2 would, which is where I'm guessing all this started, but it really didn't.

Actually now that I think about it, the Splinter Cell games do. But I think those are a special case due to the tightly controlled nature of their single player campaigns. I can't think of a single other game that is signifigantly different graphically. "

Dude every fps that has 4 player split screen has a huge drop in detail in the multiplayer levels. It's just common sense. The system is having to render nearly the same level that you play in single player x 4. So developers tone down a bunch of objects and graphical features.

Anyway, I think a lot of people are so stupid when it comes to judging this game, that it's not even worth mentioning we still haven't gotten one good high resolution screenshot of this game from a current build, yet everyone has jumped to conclusion. Apparently that makes no difference. Which is why I won't feel sorry when a lot of people here are going to get owned this fall.

I guess the reason I am so frustrated is that I simply used to love Rare. Conker was, and still is one of the coolest games I've played. DKC made me love Donkey Kong again. I still remember Killer Instinct from the arcades - I could go on and on...

What Rare has done with this game just defies logic to me. I mean, if there's one thing you've ALWAYS been able to count on from Rare, it was great graphics. Even Kameo, a game I had no initial interest in, is starting to look good. (And fun)

So just what is the deal here? They've had forever to work on this stuff. It's not like they have put out a lot of games for the XBox...

I don't want to see Rare go the way of Sega, and become just another happy memory. Like the PD0 team, Sega appears to have lost their touch, but that is another arguement.

So Kameo doesn't still look great because of GOW? Alright so I guess MGS3 wasn't a great looking game because of HALF LIFE 2 or Zelda doesn't look pretty because of RE 4. Do you see what I'm saying? You make no sense, just because GOW is prettier doesn't mean Kameo isn't pretty.

Getting better and better everytime it is shown. Crow will be served, and the usual people will eat it once again ahah in a few months.

Even if the game turned out great, that doesn't make these complaints invalid. People are judging official screens. The game looks good, but it’s not 350 dollars good.

Many people saw the screens and predicted that the game will turn out to be shit, graphically and otherwise. To them, crow is forthcoming.

Kameo isn't one of the best looking game next-gen. That's it.

Why should he be joking? Have you seen Kameo?

Yeah, I saw it at E3, the framerate was ass, the game didn't look impressive apart from the number of enemies on-screen. It was one of the least impressive 360 titles IMO, maybe I didn't pay enough attention to it? I guess it could be because I despise the art style in the game as well.

I think so. Time will tell, but I still believe that Nintendo will come to regret giving them up...even though they'd never admit it. I just read a fansite interview with some of the Rare guys talking about their proprietary middleware for X360...making their own development for the platform much more efficient and speedy. Things like that make me think they'll deliver more than ten titles on the platform, easily. As they have shown with the N64, they can pump those bitches out when they got a platform wired.
:lol :lol
Considering Grabbed By the Ghoulies probably made them lose money, or at best break-even, we can only assume that they still have the $375 million to make back on top of funding them for the last 3 years.
Care to make the 10-games a bet?

I'm seriously not seeing what you guys are seeing that is "improved" in these screens. I'm fully expecting it to look very good whenever it ships, but this isn't it.
