20 Years LttP: Twin Peaks

Jumped on the bandwagon yesterday afternoon. I think someone mentioned it in The Killing thread, and I'm glad I found out about this show. It's pretty damn entertaining. I've seen two episodes and I've found myself laughing quite a bit. It's a combination of the bad acting, weird cuts, and eccentric characters, but it's hilarious. There are quite a few striking similarities between this show and The Killing too, which is making it difficult to separate them.

It's over...and somehow I feel empty. I still have the movie, but I know it won't satisfy every bit of my remaining curiosity.

Season three...it's painful to know it will never be. I can't imagine what it must have been like for people who watched it when the finale aired.
I'm glad I knew it would be the absolute end. It almost made it fun to think about where I expected the series to go.

Started watching recently too, I'm at the beginning of season 2. I was expecting it to be good, considering how well it's regarded, but I didn't expect I'd end up liking it this much.

I get the feeling that they used up most of their ideas at that point. Pretty much everyone's problems are resolved in one way or another in the end.

also, the way it plays out in my mind, the series pretty much "ends" in the few hours after the final scene in the last episode. super spoilers-
cooper kills annie, goes nuts. then, either the town is powerless to stop a Bob-possessed Agent Cooper or someone walks in right after he murders her and kills him.

When I watched it, years ago, I knew I was watching the final episode, but a friend had told me it was a two-hour episode.

So, when the credits rolled -- about 50 minutes before I was ready -- I was so pissed: "What? Noooo! What the hell?"

(I later found out my friend had thought that the last two episodes had been blended together into one double-episode, or something. I can understand that, but I'll still never forgive him.)

That scene with James singing was absolutely hysterical. I cracked the fuck up when I saw that come out of nowhere. But I have to admit, I love the tune to that song.

Some of you who are complaining about the cheesiness need to remember that this is partly a parody of soap operas. Heck, look at the plot: its entirely your typical soap plot. But it is executed brilliantly.

I'm now on S2E10. I'm not sure when the season 2 lull is supposed to start but I can't wait to get to the end.

It gets so much better about halfway through season 2. Trust me.

I dunno, there's still some stuff they could've pursued in a third season.
The theory that good Cooper is trapped in the Black Lodge and how Harry, Hawk, Briggs, Andy, and the FBI try to get him out and eventually defeat BOB. Then again, the fact that Audrey and Pete are dead (the windows were blown out, they're dead) would put a damper on things, heh.

Gotta agree with Sherilyn Fenn, Kyle Maclachlan did blow it with the whole Audrey/Dale relationship. Damn Lara Flynn Boyle and her jealousy.

I don't know if I wasn't watching the scene close enough or something, but in the pilot...

why did Donna's sister give her away so fast when she snuck out to go to the bar? This is the scene where she's trying to get the right words down in a poem she's writing. Donna's sis promised to cover for her, but then when their Dad comes into the room, she points to the window almost instantly, alerting her Dad that Donna left.

I don't know what song you're referring to, James does not sing and has never once picked up an instrument. He is a biker, he likes fixing expensive cars.

Don't worry, everything will be fine.

atm we're at the beginning of season 2, i kinda miss invitation to love :lol
One of the weirder things to get lost in transition - why? The putzy guy with glasses reminded me of the Robocop putz with glasses every time. And I loved the mimicking aspect.

Yep. It was the driving force for Fenn's character, and I never really understood her motivation after that (which is strange, because
they hinted at her wanting to join the FBI (or DEA, I guess) after meeting Duchovny's character, but I guess that would have been a bit further down the line
.).

These high school kids are so corny lol.

I'm finding this mildly entertaining. Would be a lot better if it moved a little quicker... every scene that isn't the Sheriff or Agent just draaaaaaaaags.

i like the cheesy sounds and the commenter.. i'm not sure how he sounds in the original version.. but the german translation is awesome :D, also it's cool to follow a little story line IN another story line....

As far as I remember, it's never explained. Just chalk it up to capricious kids and sibling rivalry.

Didn't the dad walk in looking like he knew something was wrong? She probably saw she couldn't lie and get away with it.

episode 6 of the first season, howwwww could cooper say no to audrey?! good lordy lord.

he's an idiot....she's too hot in this show. and it gets more infuriating in light of some events in season 2.

So I'm going to have to change my avatar due to the new rules. This thread has made me think about getting a Twin Peaks one. Any suggestions?

I thought that it's been said that Audrey would have survived? I can't find the source, but I distinctly remember reading that.

Yea, the music is Twin Peaks.

Angelo Badalamenti compliments Lynch's vision so perfectly. It's pretty remarkable to see how they came up with some of the music.

I remember the first time watching that video. I can't get over how enthusiastic he gets, "yes Angelo, that's it, keep going!". Totally can get that sense from the actual music itself.

Finishing Season 1 shortly.

i went on a mad marathon this weekend and watched the pilot through ep 10.

it was glorious. cant wait to get through the rest and get to the movie. hopefully by this weekend.

So I just finished watching the pilot and episode one and I just had to make this:

What spoiler? You'd have literally no idea what that sentence means until you see the scene yourself.
People know that the show
has dopplegangers...that's a spoiler for sure.

Going through earlier parts of Season 2, and I feel like the side story's deviating a little too much from the tightness of Season 1. But I'm coming up to episode 6 and it's getting much more interesting.
