Just finished all of the episodes up to
Leland's death
.

Question for all the Twin Peaks fanatics: should I continue watching from this point?

I've already skipped ahead and watched the final episode and skipped around bits in FWWM.

The only thing HBO or whatever could do for the show is make the shocks more shocking. Lynch really could have gone to town on some of those memorable scenes, especially around s2e6 and the finale.

Fire Walk With Me is definitely worth watching in its entirety. Great movie.

As for the remaining episodes... I don't know. Probably should watch one or two of them and then decide.

I'm curious about this too.

I'm about five episodes after the reveal and finding none of the story lines interesting so far.

I mean I finished all the episodes as a fan of the show and a fan of Lynch's work in general, but to be honest you wouldn't be missing out on much at all if you didn't watch the filler episodes at the end of season 2, but its not going to ruin the show for you if you do watch it.

The quality just drops for most of the story lines, but there is still some interesting stuff in there.

I should really finish it one of these days. The first season was so damn good but it started losing steam once
they showed that ghost thing that killed Laura. I think I stopped watching the show when Cooper saw a UFO or something.

The episodes leading up to the finale are good.

If memory serves you can probably skip 7-8 episodes and miss nothing but some dreadful storylines that exist just to make you angry.

The Windom Earle bits are important and maybe some things with Annie and Dale's relationship, but aside from that there's not much to miss throughout the later half of season two.

I ordered this poster about 20 minutes ago after seeing it mentioned over at /Film, and I just checked the product page again to see they've sold out. Either I was a tad too late, in which case I'll have to wait for PayPal to refund the money, or I snagged one of if not the very last one. The ideal case is the latter, however knowing my luck...

My buddy lent me his box set so I'm slowing making my way through it. So fucking awesome. Like an excellent cup of coffee and a slice of pie.

Yeah just saw that over at /film myself and went to go order one and saw I was too late. I'm jealous if you got one.

If anyone knows where I can buy myself a print please let me know!

It was my lucky day. :)

So I just finished watching this yesterday at 3am and Oh My God. I can still hear the sycamore trees song in my head.

Well I just finished the pilot and I'll keep watching as it has some potential. The FBI agent is a great character and easily the best actor of the bunch. Downsides are everyone is having an affair...just plain ridiculous. Furthermore, all the youth characters suffer from some serious mental issues...sure, one nut is fine but all 5 of the youth leads are just so unrelatable I find it hard to buy their characters. What the hell at the end with mom flipping out when mysterious dude found the buried item? She have secret senses or is this just silly melodrama?

It's a weird little town with quirky people portrayed in a whimsically dark and melodramatic way.

I returned to the party that I didn't spend much time in at the time a few years ago when I got the Gold Box Definitive DVD set for Christmas. Damn fine show.

Tibet.

Last night I rewatched the episode of Psych that payed homage to this having finally seen twin peaks. Surprising how much they managed to fit into that episode. I had to look up who was playing who though because I honestly didn't recognize them for the most part.

The actress who portrayed Audrey Horne looks almost the same as she did all those years ago.

If you haven't yet seen Twin Peaks, you owe it yourself and humanity to change that. Stop whatever meaningless task you're doing at this very moment and get on it.

Needs to be said once more.

Just finished watching the whole series a few weeks ago...didn't really like the ending all that much.

Really thought Cooper was going to come through at the end. Especially when in the lodge Windom says that he can save Annie if he gives up his own life and he agrees. Yeah, he entered the lodge in fear, but I thought that the attempted sacrifice would be the love needed to turn it into the white lodge. Then you have Bob telling Cooper that Windom can't take souls and so he'll take his and I thought that was going to mean instead of Cooper getting killed or taken over, it would be Windom that gets possessed, leaving Annie and Cooper to get out. Once Cooper woke up in the bed at the end I knew that wasn't what happened though and now I'm left with the impression that Cooper killed Annie and then probably killed himself. It was supposed to be a cliffhanger ending for a third season, right?

I don't mind the rest of the unresolved stuff though...and hopefully Leo was eaten alive by the spiders :)

Cooper had to face his shadow-self in order to leave the Black Lodge with his soul intact. But instead of facing (and defeating) his shadow self, he chose to run. That's why he stayed in the Black Lodge and BOB took over his mortal body.

Thanks for mentioning that.

Season 5 episode 12. Will check it out.

Through episode 7 of S1. Love the set-up to whatever happens in E8, the season finale. Guess I'll watch it now.

Bobby is the only actor/character I can't stand. Dude looks and acts like a freak.

The movie was a turn-off for me because of how disturbing in a non-kitsch way it was. And it was pretty damn lewd.

Love the show, though, one of the best ever, no doubt.

I didn't like the movie. All of the quirky, endearing things that lightened the mood in the tv show were missing in the movie. It was just one bleak thing after another.

S1 Episode 8

I really have no clue who the killer is. My guess is Mr Horne but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Pete. Yeah good ole Pete...he's the least likely at this point so it must be him. I take it is the Parole guy who shoots Cooper at the end. I think it's kinda dumb if other people than Laura start to die. Hardly knew ye Jacque and truck guy, but I guess he's probably not dead. Who attacked Jacoby and why? The set up for the finale didnt pay off quite as good as I imagined but it was still pretty good.

I love how Fire Walk with Me reveled in the dark aspect. I mean, how else could Lynch have approached that part of the story with the same humor intact?

It's kind of difficult to retain that lighthearted mood when the film focuses on a character during her last few days as she falls deeper into her own personal Hell.

I too just made it to the point one questions whether or not to keep watching. Great show up to this point but I can't envision it being half as good. It'd be really stupid if
Bob takes over someone else and starts killing.
So I don't even want to risk it.

Keep watching. Season 2 gets really shitty at some points but imo it's well worth everything to watch it + fire walk with me.

Just got done watching FWWM. It doesn't do much to add anything to what we already knew, but I still liked it because I love Lynch's style. The bar/club scene with the live band playing in the background was incredible. There were some awesome visual littered throughout the movie. The only thing the movie cleared up was the fact that Cooper is indeed trapped inside the lodge.

Not so sure I'm on board with that, all of the scenes that do not involve Laura are extremely bleak as well. I found that there were little to no redeeming qualities of the town in the movie.

I loved the movie so much when I originally saw it. I especially liked...

-The bar scene. The music, seeing the dark side of Twin Peaks come to life. Lines like "So you wanna fuck the homecoming queen", passing the beer around, most of the dialogue being inaudible, etc.
-The Bobby/Laura woods scene.
-The TV breaking in the beginning. Great way of saying "this ain't no rated PG tv show"
-The first 30 minutes. I dunno I just liked the style and seeing a town as the complete opposite of Twin Peaks, David Lynch knows how to troll people haha. Almost as bad as "that milk will cool down on you"
-So much other shit, I forgot most of it (not due to time passing) Oh yeah the actual death of Laura of course, was pretty friggin crazy. Oh the part where she runs off into the woods and the traffic light!!!

I also recall laughing my ass off at so many things, like the same song that played in the bar playing in the cabin. I can imagine the fat guy telling Leo "dude I totally heard this awesome song while sucking Laura's tits I wanna relive that moment" I laughed at Leo scrubbing the floor and going like "I'm cleaning the floor now to show you how to do this Shelley, but then you're gonna do it right!" and the way he abruptly loudly yelled SHUT UP! to Laura when she was like "please untie me" hahaha.

Not so sure I'm on board with that, all of the scenes that do not involve Laura are extremely bleak as well. I found that there were little to no redeeming qualities of the town in the movie.

I feel like that's the point of the movie. Kind of like how the tone and acting in Blue Velvet changes during the night scenes, Fire Walk With Me showed the other side of Twin Peaks, it wasn't supposed to be anything like the show. I definitely understand why so many people don't like it though.

But the show had BOTH sides of Twin Peaks, it's not like it was a merry joy ride in the series.

Very recently watched the first season and didn't keep going because the universal opinion I kept hearing was very Heroes-esque, in the sense of telling me that watching the second season is one of the worst things you could do.

Was that a mistake?

Huge mistake. The second season isn't entirely bad at all. There's a section that's overly soapy (even for Twin Peaks), aimless, and ridiculous. But it's about 8 or 9 episodes of continued greatness, 11 weaker episodes that still have excellent pieces hidden in them, and then an disturbingly awesome finale with what's likely TP's most memorable sequence. Watch it.

The second half of the 2nd season is amazing. Some of the best the show has to offer.

Season 2 is a mixed bag, overall it focuses much more on the supernatural aspects of Twin Peaks than the first season, which is cool. But it also has a lot of filler story lines, which is not so cool.

It depends on what you enjoyed most about season 1. For me, the first 2/3rds of season 2 felt like character betrayals of everyone but Coop. The last 3rd was much more enjoyable.
That being said, it's built up from the beginning, so you need to slog through the crappy 2/3rds to get the most out of the ending.

Just watched the series finale. WTF WAS THAT SHIT? Total piece of shit garbage. I might in fact hate this show now. Not one bad episode and then they save it for the finale...don't resolve anything...leave every storyline open-ended...complete destruction of every character...WTF!!! Greatest rickroll of all-time. If you are thinking of watching this show, don't! I never wanna see another BSG or LOST finale criticism again....they're masterpieces to the shit I just watched.

Whether or not it was or wasn't...fact remains that it is. That might have been the worst episode of anything ever.
Uh, no, it's not the same thing. It's not even close and it's not a valid or constructive piece of criticism. Your main complaint is lack of resolution, which couldn't be helped by the creative team of Twin Peaks. It's unfortunate, but it's not the shows fault. At all.
As for it destroying characters..I mean,
technically it *literally* destroys cooper, but he likely could have broken free from Bob just as Leland finally did.
Other than that I have no idea what you're talking about

Whether or not it was or wasn't...fact remains that it is. That might have been the worst episode of anything ever.

It's only bad because there was no conclusion. To use Lost as an example it would be the equivelent of
"We have to go back Kate!"
being the end of the show. Whatever season 3 was going to be could have totally justified that ending.

I was doing some stumbling and came across this 'vocal cover' of Fantomas' Twin Peaks. There isn't much connecting the two other than the fact that Twin Peaks served as the basis for the Fantomas tune.

First is the original http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhy2Y7aSD5g

So get a good listen to that, it's pretty simple, and then move on below to the cover.

Second, the vocal cover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYI0noOGpVE

I don't know what goes wrong, but it does. Patton FTW.
