Well worth it. But there is a 172MB demo which I believe is the full game you unlock when purchasing, try that to get a feel for it.

Question regarding HL1 too. Played through HL2 already. Would you people recommend getting up to speed with HL1 or is it not necessary anymore?
Will people with no nostalgia towards it still enjoy it?

Aside from graphics and technology, HL1 is a better "game" than HL2, IMO. It would be foolish to skip it.

It's based off UE3 so it runs well on decent rigs and it's really short and mediocre. It hook me 4 hours on the hardest difficulty.
