2011 Fall Anime Thread - Bad Shows & Self Hating Nerds

2011 got us Madoka, Steins;Gate, Usagi Drop, Hanasaku Iroha, Wandering Son, Fate/Zero, Penguindrum, Chihayafuru, Idolmaster, Ano Hana,
, among other titles. Lots of stuff for all different types of fans.
Comparing it to previous years is pointless. On its own merits, 2011 has been a very good year for anime.

Gintama 180
Gintama isn't usually a looker, but they completely nailed the stylized flashbacks in this episode. Good color and design choices. Even aside from that, the framing, lighting, and the animation of Jiraia during his fight was very well-executed and piercingly drove home the emotional impact of the narrative. Visually, this is the best episode of the entire show.

This show has definitely picked up. Yeah it still has stupid dialog and bad guys who won't shut up, but the fights are well animated and exciting. I'm even coming around on the characters. Rider and Waver need their own buddy cop movie.

I have to watch this show just to see how much verbal diarrhea they can spew by the end. I think they're on track for a world record.

I can't believe they actually managed to make the gay jokes ever more tasteless than the games. Still I got some laughs out of these kanji's episode and the camping trip. Nice to see Yosuke is still a homophobic douche but why did they make Charlie one too?
The OP for 9 was incredibly ugly. Why would they even bother making that for one episode if they weren't going to put any effort into it? Overall I'm enjoying the show more but its still not good and its still ugly.

I hope we dont switch Hologram and Brain Driver out for songs, like them. Music during the puzzle was nice. Gyamon had me cracking up this episode, as well as Nonoha and Kaito.

Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Be- Holy Shit Look At Dem Clouds!
It's Shinkai taking a stab at generic fantasy and... it's not very good. My nakama Halycon calling it awful is just him being harsh, as per usual, but it does leave one with a sense of unfulfillment. The whole thing is quite been-there-done-that and pretty much every character's motivations are so flimsy you won't likely care for any of them.
Basically, if you're looking for an interesting story or engaging characters then you should probably look elsewhere, however, if you just want to look at some sexy scenery porn then boy are you in for a fapping good time. So yeah, it's another Shinkai film.
Also, was it just me or does the male protagonist kinda look like he was ripped straight out of a Ghibli movie?
I haven't watched that one. I'm assuming it doesn't have rocket punches or pandas so, probably.

I don't know about that, it can be classy, creative and even suggest some idea or notion beyond the fanservice itself. Of course, it's rarely that complicated, but it can happen.
I was actually right with GC, it's just that no one reads the op (I mean, I never read op's for gaming threads so w/e).
As for Wagnaria 2 . . . I'm still conflicted about that. I got caught up to episode ten and I think it's a boring show, but there's something oddly appealing about it. It just radiates moe.

I'd say it was a solid 80-20 mix male-female. I surprisingly did not see any otaku (glasses, unkempt hair, backpack, checkered shirt) there. Not to say there weren't but there was surprisingly alot of normal looking people.
Nerds in stealth mode - a shower, a comb, a collared shirt.
I was kinda far from Akiba. Maybe they transform as they get close to the holy land.
