2012 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Don't Use Imgur

I took a couple of screenshots while I was messing around with various console commands and hiding the black outline. Here are a few good ones. They are super crazy downsampled (I was taking Tiledshots) so that is why they have such high IQ.

Ugh, you monster. How can you... :(

Yeah, I know.. :( But since I'm playing with a controller it's not that bad, if I had been using a mouse it would've been unacceptable. I lowered down my resolution to 1600x900 (still kept 9xSSAA) and now it runs at a solid 60 even when I am streaming it.

I feel the art and textures of Borderlands 2 are designed with that outline in mind, it just looks weird without the outline post process imo. If you could make it thinner without the hit of downsampling, I'd take that, but oh well.

The worst thing about <60fps in Dolphin is the game itself will slow down, as opposed to just dropping frames. Even at 45fps it feels like slow mo Mario =X. I suppose you could get used to it, but at 60 it's a completely different game.

Gameplay >>> graphics, always. Mario not at 60FPS is not acceptable.

Quick question for all the graphics junkies in here: If I'm using in-game MSAA and I want to add some Transparency AA in NVIDIA inspector, do I need to select "enhance application setting" for AA mode, or are the two settings separate?

They're separate, but you can use inspector to force other methods like CSAA that could give better results

Those F1 shots are really atmospheric. The lighting and fog is so good. I would love to see more naturalistic lighting like that in a Silent Hill game.

I remember some years ago when very few people posted in the PC screenshot thread.

Stallion Free, brain_stew and myself were among the few who seemed really interested
sorry if I forgot someone

Now, not a day goes by without lots of new pics. How we have grown......

It's helped me appreciate games with nice art a lot more. And the benefits of AA.

If any one ever needs an example of a game with an "Unreal Engine 3 look", look no further than Transformers.

And I suppose if you want to demonstrate the opposite right afterwards, look at Borderlands 2.

I'm saving this beautiful letter for the 2013 thread OP.

back in the day, weren't you not allowed to post "art" shots in the thread, only shots that represented realistic rendering conditions, which meant a lot of shots had to have a hud, and couldn't be downsampled, etc?
