Those bf3 screens were taken while experimenting with sweetfx. Dota 2 on the other hand is regular vanilla, I checked to see if downsampling changed the colors noticeably but it didn't, could be the brightness slider I remember that affecting the contrast/color of the game a lot.

Looks straight up like Blade Runner the 2D adventure game. God damn we have made some strides in 3D graphics since Quake 1.

I miss downsampling. 
I bought a U2711 thinking it would offer a decent bit of headroom as its 2560*1440 already. Nope! won't even go a pixel over
Edit: Scratch that - i can hit 3840*2160 @ 30Hz. 30Hz though :/
Edit 2: The resolution doesn't show in Bf3, though.

Did they solved the Lod bug? I'm playing Brotherhood now and seeing the low res trees when I'm 10 meters from them is... ugh.
Edit: Yep, just noticed that tree in the second pic, maybe it is a little better, but it's still there.

i have no idea, if i had to guess maybe port begging GTAV PC in one of the news threads
as for 3000x resolutions, a beasty rig could handle it and deliver 30fps or more in some games, but for the most part its screenshot candy
