2012 NBA Feb |OT2| Kobe Bryant is a MAN

Oh okay so you're not going to actually support your opinion at all. Cool.

What opinion is there to support?!?!?

1) The players voted overwhelmingly that they want him to take the shot.

That is a fact.

2) When crunching numbers, it shows that the reality is that Kobe isn't as clutch as his peers believe.

That is a fact.

All I'll maintained is, despite that, it is my belief that his peers STILL want the ball in his hands. You referred to them as less than intelligence for being victims of confirmation bias.

There was nothing left to say, on either side as the arguments aren't connected as I NEVER argued against the data being true.

Did I miss something?

Not having a star doesn't count. Rockets have no choice.

Eh, I'd mention Pop too but he occassionally does isos as well. Tim and Manu iso is pretty common late in game for the Spurs (>6 secs=Tim, <6 secs=Manu).

He runs specialized sets that involve the entire team more often than not though.

Rivers and Pop are the closest. Those 2 do a good job, really, of keeping the team ball idea alive.

Only issue is they still waste too much clock too early IMO.

Talk to me when NBA PLAYERS (not fans) have more faith in Wade over Durant, much less Kobe.

But, I guess that vote was a mere formality.
This was your first post on this stuff. It is phrased like you're trying to say that Wade is not as clutch as Durant or Kobe because of their opinions.

SVG always runs some sort of play, mainly because nobody on the Magic can iso.

But isos only is Mike Brown's normal offense.

Mike Brown is running the same offense Pop ran when he had Robinson/Duncan, for the most part.

Even other team scouting reports have said as much. It's hardly an iso offense. if is was, Fish and Ron would be getting less shots.

And I'll say this for the 100th time. Phil almost never ran the triangle at the end of games. It was almost always iso Kobe or 2 man PnR with Kobe/Pau. Occasionally they'd run a play for Pau. Mike Brown at least ran a play in the clutch for Bynum against the Clips.

Of course, there was that one time when Phil called the last play for Kwame...I believe Kwame's first Laker game. That...didn't end well.

Look dude, now youre going off the deep end. Anyone who has watched basketball for any significant amount of time knows that late-game pressure exists, and it affects some players more than others. In fact, anyone who has played at the high-level at any sport or competitive game could tell you that.

To cite a "behavorial economist" to refute that is just silly.
The only way I know that's been statistically proven in which late-game pressure affects players in general is FT%--players shoot about 2% worse, on average, in the clutch. Not that significant.

How it affects certain individual players, though... the legend of Wince remains strong.

Teams without stars do isos at the end of games.

Fair enough I suppose, but those teams at least have ball handlers. Like Hedo. But that Rockets team really didn't have anyone to handle the rock in iso. Best option maybe Lowry, but dude isn't someone I'd trust enough last year for that.

Doc tries to create open shots for Ray, which is the best I've seen end of game-wise. Otherwise, it's mostly PP iso.

Yes, it was Phil who decided that.

yes, it was. He has specific names for the plays. He even has one for the last 5 seconds too. I forgot what it was called, but it involved the work fuck, I think.

PJ believes in the end of game isos. He had to be convinced of allowing a Pau PnR.

Hey Heavy, where you at dawg? Still pimping the Lakers as a championship contender? Still have faith in this organization now that we have the devil incarnate running the show? Still have hope in this deformed Lakers franchise now that we have an alcoholic making decisions and his cronies taking over for long time capable professionals? Enjoy this trash because after Kobe leaves, thats all she wrote until Jim Buss is either forced to hand over the franchise or is kidnapped by one of his bookies and sent over to North Korea to serve in a slave camp.

oh fuck me. i forgot heavy was flaunting the lakers as a contender.
is he also a joke in the nfl thread?

However, don't confuse Bryant's domination of the ball with Jackson's endorsement of the plan. In the same book, Jackson tells of his annoyance at Bryant's ball-hogging in crunch time. In one instance, he describes drawing up a play with multiple options, in crunch time of a 2004 playoff series against Houston. Bryant destroyed all the options; instead of setting a baseline screen for Shaquille O'Neal he ran straight to the ball. "With the twenty-four-second clock winding down," writes Jackson, "Kobe forced a long jumper, a horrible shot in the game's most critical possession. The ball did not reach the rim..."

Of course this is from 2004 so...

Of course this is from 2004 so...

yeah, back when there was Shaq, Malone, and Payton on the team. That was different.

And I definitely agree that Kobe breaks plays off and I"m sure he does it to Brown. Brown isn't just calling Kobe Isos. Brown has called TOs to set plays up for Pau/Bynum late in games when Kobe has gone off the rails.

But Phil called his overwhelming share of Kobe isos. My least favorite aspect about Phil, honestly.

Joe Treutlein
FYI - Chaz is real, been a scout for a few years at least, travels to a lot of games, takes notes and watches games like every other scout

Joe Treutlein
He also is a very nice guy. Just a personal observation from a fellow scout I thought should be out there.

hmm..

Doomsayer - he was talking shit about how the niners fluked to winning against the saints and other dumb shit in the NFL thread. I'd like to believe Heavy is just a troll, but more likely he's just Jim Buss.

Yeah I remember that, apparently forcing turnovers are flukes.

I feel like he doesn't really know much about sports and follows the stories instead.

you bitch.

I don't see nash's old ass in those matchups. Talk when they are as good as the rox.

I personally can't wait for Lowry to get injured in game 1 and come back gimpy for game 4, for scola to flop like no ones flopped before on defense, and draw stupid bull shit fouls on offense. Then see the anguish on haywoods face as he decides if its' worth his time stepping on scolas face while he's on the ground after a flop.

I can't wait to see brian cardinal get burn again because the rockets don't have a legit centre and will run with scola @ 5.

I can't wait to see kevin martin try and get more FT's than wade in the finals.

personally, it's my wet dream matchup, i'm just sort of quiet and reserved bout it.

<3 you rockets-age, but i seriously have no desire to watch this rockets team in the play offs

jimbo chose mike brown over adelman.
that should give you a flavor of his acute mind.

He also makes predictions on gaming-side. He recently predicted the 3DS is going to start bombing.
lol. you have to be a fool to post there.

And if you want a sense for Ellis’ market value right now, and probably leading into the March 15 trade deadline, it’s fitting to look back to last June.

That’s when the GSW front office had talks with Minnesota (among a handful 0f other teams), centered around Ellis.

According to multiple league sources, the two teams had a loose outline of a proposal–neither team had agreed to anything, but this was the basic heart of the talks:

* Minnesota was willing to talk about a package involving F Michael Beasley and C Nikola Pekovic in return for Ellis.

The sources say the Warriors didn’t flat out say no to Minnesota, but wanted more.

* The GSWs apparently asked to expand the deal to include the Timberwolves’ No. 1 pick in last year’s draft, which was 2nd overall and turned out to be Derrick Williams.

At that point, according to the sources, the two sides got stuck negotiating what the GSWs would do then to sweeten it beyond Ellis.

No deal.

kill me now.

Make her go away :(

Date Tyra, and be swagged out forever... I don't know of too many men who could make that sacrifice.
