So Dwight is to be held responsible for things.... that he's not responsible for? he's handled his FA terribly. But he can't be held responsible for teams he hasn't talked to blowing up their roster to trade for him. Thats on them.

he's responsible for his legacy and setting the right example for up and coming players in the league. players will look at him and either see right or wrong in what he does. The teams will look at his destruction and will probably hold off on signing him because of his indecisiveness.

Lakers were one of 3 teams on his supposed list, though.

If Joe J goes to Brooklyn and Lakers trade for Dwight, there will be nowhere for Dwight to go that is a big market. They are all capped out and sign + trades are illegal next offseason

that would be a funny outcome... but bynum is still young... with a clear head and having a more dominant role... bynum would be looked at as the best center in the league.. given 2-3 years time.

at this point... i can't wait for this free agency to be over. sp much BS right now with dwight... i would like for it to end.

He's only fucked over one team, and thats Orlando.

And thats as much to Orlando handling everything leading up to it poorly.

His FA has been terrible. But what 29 other teams do has no bearing on his legacy. He hasn't gone around promising other teams that he's interested in going there, or alluding to it.

You're making up stuff now.

Dwights a fuckn idiot, i mean, off the court he's a mental midget. No player should ever be looking up to him for off court guidance.

im not making anything up.

if he joins a team like the rockets or lakers and takes off for free agency... it shows he has no loyalty to his fans, team, or franchise... completely different from players in the past who hoped to play their years out with just one team... ring or no ring.

and players do look at other players in the league for guidance. dwight is a superstar... plenty of players are looking at him... he needs to set the right example.

Loyalty? to a franchise he's played for, for one year?

One he doesn't want to be on in the first place?

He's told Orlando he has 1 destination he wants to go to. Anyone else who trades for him is doing it at their own risk.

Thats not Dwights fault. Not in the slightest. How is it? what does he owe them? he was brought in against his wishes.

No one is looking up to dwight and for guidance at all in anything. Not the guy who's running around silencing babby' mommas with big pay offs, getting his cock out in other peoples bathrooms with porn stars.

You can criticise him for how he's gone about his FA. He should have just told Orlando 12 months ago "Nets, Now". And have been done with it.

Def is a combination of defensive metrics as one. Mounds of salt please.

I didn't really keep up with how RJ really felt at the time. I was just shocked we even landed him and I believe the team won over 100 games that year for the first time ever... I was on the happy sauce. Then Kevin Brown raped us on the mound :|

Yea he was dominating and was a class act. He also most likely decided that since the Stros lineup couldn't produce any runs for him that it also wasn't worth sticking around any way. Bags and Bidge were awful in the playoffs, as was the rest of the team besides the pitchers.

Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey Jr both pretty much bitchassed their way out of Seattle.

Griffey was especially bad because he said he would only accept a trade to one team, so the Mariners had zero leverage and ended up not getting as much back as Griffey was worth.

With Randy everyone knew he was gonna get traded, his only thing really was wanting to go somewhere where he could win it all, so at the very least the Mariners weren't totally handcuffed in negotiations.

This is probably what I'm pulling for. If Hennigan ends up taking some shitty contracts just to get Dwight to the Nets he'll be run out of town before preseason.

And Bynum wants to chuck 3s, he would fit right in with the rest of the team & fans.

LOL no.

Bynum is a 7 year veteran, played for a HOF coach with a top notch coaching staff, including being coached by one of the best centers ever. And he has the benefit of playing next to another top 10 rebounder who can score, and Kobe. He isn't getting any better.

You're looking at his peak.

What loyalty? A player who is a free agent has every right to choose where he wants to work.

If he ends up on the rockets or lakers or any team before his FA period (that isn't his preferred destination), he did not 'join' that team, he was traded to them, so he would not be at fault in any way for leaving them.

I do think he is something of a bitch, and very selfish to boot. But he's damn good on the court and turns any team into a playoff contender, so if a team could make a serious title run with him...maybe he'd stay.

if you see me in a fight with a bear, don't help me fool, help the bear!
dwight knows teams are literally blowing up their rosters for a chance to have him on the team and win another chip for their franchise... and to just walk away like this.

he's taking a big dump on orlando... just fucking over the fans and the front office that did everything to make him happy... including firing the head coach and gm.

only to say... i want out

then he goes to another city... destroys their roster and chances... only to walk away because he wants to play with deron williams in brooklyn? deron might not even stay!

i mean... at this point this guy is not just a locker room cancer... but a franchise cancer... he steps into organizations and just fuck shit up.

shameful... let him play overseas... but dont let guys like this come into the league when there's so many others who would love to just have a shot period.

happens all the time in all sports.. as long as he plays his ass off for that year and doesn't lay down on them.. why would you blackball him for that?

all his bs he did in Orlando is crappy.. but that aside leaving a team he doesn't want to traded to is really his right as a player..

What's more crappy is his BS about wanting/not wanting to be traded last year, and now he's basically saying he wants out of Orlando after just signing a 1 year contract extension.

He's being a completely unprofessional douchebag.

Monday, NBA offices are open. This is the true first day of FA.

I expect two trades today.
Please please please let one of them be Joe Johnson to Brooklyn.

Oh man, that would make my day.

...

Speaking of which, are there any Nyets fans here? I can't think of any.

For Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard, it's Brooklyn or bust.

"There's only one team on my list and if I don't get traded there, I'll play the season out and explore my free agency after that," Howard told Yahoo! Sports Monday.

Howard did not specify which team, but multiple league sources say that it is the Brooklyn Nets.

Howard also denied an ESPN report that he had told people Orlando Magic officials had "blackmailed" him into forgoing the early termination option on his contract that ultimately cost him his free agency this summer, according to Yahoo! Sports.

"I never used the word blackmail in reference to any of my dealings with the Magic," Howard told Yahoo! Sports. "I never said that. It's defamatory and it's inaccurate. I know what blackmail means and any report that I used the term incorrectly is inaccurate."

Dwight is always saying something, then claiming he didn't say it. Bitch ass mofo.

And why are the Cavs looking at Johnny Flynn?! I don't deserve this.

Why did Dwight opt-in last season? Was it strictly peer pressure and he folded and now completely regrets it?

He was going to the Lakers. He opted in, in hope, he eventually gets sent to the Nets.

His mgnt and adidas want him in BK. On the new team, for obvious reasons. Its not so much about playing with Deron. The DH brand will do better, sell more merch in Brooklyn.

One yr of college. Play for the first team 7 or 8 seasons, then make it happen elsewhere.

Its an interesting way to do business. Top tier one team players for a career is done and dead.

I think he guilted himself into it. He knew he was being an asshole and wanted to try and repair his public image, but he didn't realize he was just making things worse by dragging it out.

The best thing he could've done was opt out and get the whole ordeal over with. He could've gone to Brooklyn as a UFA and stopped this nonsense from happening.

By demanding a trade to the Nets (and the Nets only), he has to hope that the Magic are willing to accept a package of mediocre and overpaid role players as compensation for the best C in the league. In addition, his bitchassness and indecisiveness has alienated any fans he might have had and made it impossible for Magic management to do anything productive to mitigate the clusterfuck he's created.

LeBron might be an egocentric asshole, but Dwight has superseded him IMO.

Yea, He shouldve just opted out. He and Deron could have signed for a little less. And they still get Joe salary dumped to them.

hindsight...

Hennigan doesn't have to trade Dwight at all, he can just let his deal expire; Orlando only has J-Rich and Big Baby on the books for guaranteed money next year.

Yeah. Not sure anything the Nets can still offer is better than letting him walk, let alone what some teams might pay for a rental. Taking back some awful contracts just to move him would be terrible.

Guilt was a little part of it, but he also didn't want to be traded to the Lakers, which was close to happening. Could you imagine the bad Press DH would have gotten if he went to the Lakers in a trade for Bynum, and then went to the Nets? The hate would have been epic.

Dwight can still go there if he wants.
After this season.

I think there's a chance that the prospect of wasting another year in Orlando plus the inevitable negative media scrutiny will make Dwight relent from his "Nyets or Bust" position.

All I know is that I don't want Presti to touch him with a 10-foot pole. Having a fickle egomaniac like Dwight on your squad is not worth the risk.

Say the Nets had gotten Dwight and they kept their 4th pick...

Deron Williams
Anthony Morrow
MarShon Brooks
Brook Lopez
Dwight Howard

with Thomas Robinson off the bench for instance

He screwed the Nets bad. He was some how dealing with them under the table, but unlike Lebron, Wade and Bosh he's a dumbass and let the info slip out. Didn't want to look like a bad guy and that's why we got all the double talk bullshit from him.

Dude with the Humphries avatar.

Oh yeah, him.

Ya'll know even when I'm not posting I'm always lurking.

I said back when it happened that Dwight opting in was the dumbest career move - everyone knows he wasn't staying long term with the Magic, now he looks like even more of a jerk because he got his coach and GM fired.

I'm really surprised G Wallace resigned. A month ago, after we lost the pick to the Blazers, it looked like we lost out on potentially Davis, Wallace, Deron, and Dwight all in one offseason. I really don't see Deron staying still, he's meeting with Dallas before he meets with us, and an injured Dwight vs a healthy Nowitzki isn't exactly a good look for Brooklyn.

No matter what happens, I do NOT want Joe Johnson. Shit, I'd rather overpay OJ Mayo, he at least attempts to give a fuck half the time.

The Cats are still in tank mode so I'm already looking ahead to the 2013 lottery (yes, it's the lolcats way). I've been watching whatever clips I can find of the top prospects and I REALLY like Isaiah Austin from Baylor. He's quite possibly the ugliest mother effer I've ever layed eyes on, but he can play. He's a good shot blocker, an average rebounder, and has a great perimeter skill set for a 7 footer. I still think Shabazz is the top guy, but from what I've seen so far I think Austin is the next best.

Honestly, I'm sick of guys like this.

If you're Kevin Durant, fine. But if you're that tall you should be working on your inside game and rebounding first, before you start learning to cross guys over and have "great perimeter skills for a 7-footer."

The post game is a lost art.

Austin moves terribly right now and his physique sucks and his skill set doesn't work because of that, he needs several years in college to become what John Henson is now. I think Adams and Noel are the top prospects for next year, but both guys are super raw.

problem with 7 footers at at age 19 is that they are stick thin aka not strong and so it is difficult for them to develop a post game, especially when you get someone like anthony davis who was 6'4" until like his junior year then he grew to 6'10" or w/e he is his senior year, and he kept his quickness.

not that i would say he should put off learning how to post up, but he has plenty of time to learn before he bulks up around 23

edit: although i guess they could try to perfect the hook

Davis is a really unique case.

But the biggest myth in basketball is that you need strength for a post game.
