That shit was hilarious. They won't take Robinson in Wash. They will most likely take barnes and move Jan to the 4(because that's what he is).

Wtf, no not Barnes. Wtf u guys smoking, definitely not Barnes unless we move down a bit somehow.

It's Beal or Robinson.

So Stern gave the Hornets the first overall pick because they bought the team from the NBA. Cool.

The all-star game is going to be in NOLA as well. Saints owner technically hasn't even bought the team yet. That's why people think it looks sketchy as hell.

Late, but

This league. This corrupt ass league.

Fully expect Michael to still do something stupid, like trade down for Barnes.

I wouldn't even be mad if we traded down for him - as long as we land at least another mid-late lotto pick.

DJ and #2 for the #6 and #11.

Barnes and whogivesafuck.

I got around to watch highlights of the consensus lotto picks. Davis might have the best ball handling skills in this draft. Feels bad man.

Thomas Robinson looks to have the most complete physique and skillset after Davis.

I do not want Drummond or Sullinger at #6. I rather trade out of #6 if we can to get a player. I won't mind Lamb at #11.

Feels bad man. As much I try to get excited about the other draft talents and guys like Walker and Biyombo, a day later I feel like this team has no hope.

Maybe MJ can sell the team to Stern and Stern can fix the lottery to get us the #1 pick next year. Do we win more than 12 games next year?

*sigh*

You do know that there are reps from all lotto teams at the selection, right? Also, you do know that Stern is employed by the owners, correct? You really think that the witnesses from the other teams would just roll over? Makes no sense. You could make up conspiracy bullshit for any team that won the lottery.

(assuming you believe the conspiracy)

Is BC okay? He seemed to want a Raptors' tank so badly this year and it ends up with him getting the 8th pick.

Chad Ford listed Barnes' upside as "a slightly better Luol Deng."

Jesus Christ. Is this draft really that bad?

1. Deng is a great player.
2. Barnes is not close to Deng defensively

Yeah man it was so improbable that NO would win

Not like they had a 12% chance to win or something

But continue the conspiracy theories

Hey man, stop shitting on my rants with your common sense and such.

The NBA could really help themselves if they actually showed us (the fans) the lottery process. I realize that it's nearly impossible to fix, but the conglomerate of circumstances surrounding the outcome of this lottery makes it look REAL bad. And with the image of the NBA it invites this view that the league is corrupt/lottery is fixed.

And that goes for everything that the league does. If they were more transparent and explained the process/reasoning behind certain decisions, instead of just hiding behind vague declarations like "basketball reasons", that would go a long way towards destroying that negative perception the NBA's built up.

The 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats were the worst team in the history of the NBA, and last night they missed out on the chance to draft Anthony Davis and generate some excitement for the new season.

In a last-ditch attempt to get fans in the seats, the Bobcats are now rolling out a ridiculously cheap season-ticket deal.

Fans in Charlotte can buy a season ticket for the 2012-13 season — seats are available for as low as $537.50 — and get a season ticket for the 2013-14 season absolutely free.

That's 82 games. For $537.50, or six dollars and 55 cents a game.

Even if you only go to marquee games against the top four teams in each conference, over the course of two years you would be paying less than 30 dollars a game.

For some perspective, fans have to put down a $100 deposit just to get on the waiting list for Los Angeles Lakers season tickets, with no guarantee of actually getting them. Actual season tickets cost thousands of dollars.

Even Atlanta Hawks fans should start scooping up Bobcats season tickets at this price.

If you want to go the conspiracy angle, giving the pick to the Nets would have made 1000x more sense. NO isn't that great of a market. Also, if Stern was for sure going to give the pick to NO, why would he have sold the team beforehand? Wouldn't the team be a better buy for prospective owners after the draft?

Also, here is how the lotto works. It would be boring as hell to watch on TV, and people would make conspiracies anyways, so what do they have to gain by airing it live and explaining it?

To determine the winner, fourteen ping pong balls numbered 1–14 are placed in a standard lottery machine and four balls are randomly selected from the lot. Just as in most traditional lotteries, the order in which the numbers are drawn is not important. That is, 1-2-3-4 is considered to be the same as 4-3-2-1. So although there is a total of 24 (4!) orders in which the balls numbered 1-2-3-4 can be picked, they are all treated as the same outcome. In doing this, the permutation of 4 balls from 14 becomes the combination of 4 balls from 14. That is, the total of 24,024 (14! / 10!, or 14x13x12x11) possible permutations is reduced by a factor of 24, to 1,001 combinations (or 14! / (10! x 4!)). Of these, 1 outcome is disregarded and 1,000 outcomes are distributed among the 14 non-playoff NBA teams. The combination 11-12-13-14 (in any order that those numbers are drawn) is not assigned and it is ignored if drawn; this has never occurred in practice.

In the event a lottery pick is traded to another team, the record of the original team (whose pick it was before the trade) still determines eligibility for the lottery, and assignment of chances.

...

The lottery is conducted with witnesses verifying that all 14 balls are represented once as they are placed in the lottery machine. The balls are placed in the machine for 20 seconds to randomize prior to having the first ball drawn. The remaining three balls are drawn at 10-second intervals. NBA officials determine which team holds the winning combination and that franchise is awarded the #1 overall draft pick. The four balls are returned to the machine and the process is repeated to determine the second and third picks. In the event that a combination belongs to a team that has already won its pick (or if the one unassigned combination comes up), the round is repeated until a unique winner is determined. When the first three teams have been determined, the remaining picks are given out based on regular season record with the worst teams getting the highest picks. This assures each team that it can drop no more than three spots from its projected draft position.

As you can see, this isn't a power ball type thing. There are only 14 balls--the combinations are what is important. Per wiki.

Silly rookies. Next Rueben Patterson.

Anthony Davis said:
“[Kobe]’s a monster. So I just want to go out there and play my hardest," Davis said Thursday on the "Dan Patrick Show." There’s a lot of guys that can’t stop Kobe. So if I stop him I could be one of the guys that say, ‘I shut Kobe down’.”

"Be careful what you ask for Anthony," Patrick told the former Kentucky standout. "He listens to the show and he has a great memory."

Retorted Anthony: "Tell him, I'll be waiting."

Mock draft has T. Ross going 10th to NOLA and Wroten going 35th overall (2nd round) to San Fran.

Surprised they have Wroten dropping that far despite all his flaws.

If the Blazers draft Kendall Marshall aka Eric Maynor aka Eric Snow aka Acie Law at #11 I'm gonna go supernova. Take Lamb, Lillard, or Waiters.

If T-rob measures out at 6'10 I guess I'd go with him :(

I'm guessing he gets the Derrick Williams treatment with his height. But he doesn't have the skill level Williams had to at least play some three. I think Robinson drops unless he measures 6'9". It's the same reason Sullinger is no longer a top 5 prospect.

since when is Deng a bad player?

He's not. However if that's Barnes theoretical ceiling, and everyone knows he's not ever going to be the defender or rebounder Deng is.

I doubt Ross goes to NOLA unless they can't resign EG...

Not disagreeing with you! I just don't see the Deng comparisons.

Yeah, I don't really see it also.. was just commenting on the whole snicker snicker Deng? thing..

However Barnes at no 2 would be very MJ like... :(

Hey, DY, you're the expert. Do you approve?

Michael Jordan’s son Marcus has found himself in a little bit of hot water again thanks to Twitter. Jordan, 21, appears to have tweeted porn star Rachel Roxxx which reads as if it was intended to be a direct message. Jordan has since taken down the tweet, which asks the porn star to direct message him because he has a lot more money in store for her. Jordan claims he was ‘pranked.’

Man this is some crazy shit. Shame it didn't happen :(

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com...120531_1_magic-ceo-alex-martins-dwight-howard

For the past few days, Phil Jackson was interested in the possibility of joining the Magic's front office.

Then, late Thursday afternoon, Jackson bowed out.

Magic CEO Alex Martins was formally presented on Wednesday with a scenario involving Jackson by Sam Vincent, who played for the Magic and Jackson.

"It drew some interest from Phil," Vincent said. "But in the end, Phil decided to go with another opportunity."

Jackson is apparently headed back to the NBA in some capacity, but he pulled out here before Martins had a chance to run it by owner Rich DeVos. Martins learned of Jackson's exit Thursday, but would not comment.

"Not because of this specific situation, but because I have been consistent during the search that I won't comment on specific candidates," Martins said in an e-mail. "I stand by my statement that we will put a premium on searching for Championship experience in the positions within in our search."

Vincent said Jackson gave him the impression that he doesn't want to coach anymore. But the Magic scenario would have involved Jackson as either the team president/ general manager or in a consulting role — sort of like Pat Riley looking down from his office at Erik Spoelstra in Miami.

Vincent said that Jackson, 66, was intrigued enough by the idea that Vincent and another intermediary were preparing to fly to Jackson's home in Montana to speak with him. And, if the talks went well, they would next approach Howard.

That intermediary with Vincent was a former all-star player and Hall of Famer who, in Vincent's plan, was to be the next coach of the Magic. Jackson would help mentor him.

The former player has never coached before, but surrounded by Jackson and a coaching staff including Vincent — former Charlotte Bobcats coach — and a couple of Jackson's former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coaches — Frank Hamblen and Jim Cleamons — the hope was that he could learn on the fly.

I'd love to divulge the name of the former all-star player and would-be coach, but he's currently an employee of another NBA team.

Yep. Barnes wasn't even a good defensive player in college. And in college Deng looked like a poor man's grant hill. I still think washington ends up with Barnes. They should trade with the blazers and get their two picks and then get lamb or ross and a big.

We are not trading the third pick, get that through your thick skulls.

stop posting if you don't like discussion.. it's an opinion that he think they should trade.. not they WILL trade, big difference..
