New Orleans isn't jut handing the pick away for cap relief though. The team seemingly wants a very good deal to give it up.

They want a comparable player and/or strong draft pick(s) later this draft and a first next.....personally I don't think anyone ends up biting unless a big name drops hard that some team stupidly gives up the house for. Though if some fairly mediocre team is willing to give up a decent starter, an unprotected first next year, a later draft pick this year and take on ariza or okafor I wouldn't complain.... But no one is that stupid right?

for the 10th pick they want, young talent, a late first, and a first rounder next year.

for the 10th?

looks like NO isn't getting rid of the 10th pick then.

Marcus Fizer was doing work in Europe, he was looking to come back to the NBA before, not sure now.
If doing work means playing for four different Euro teams and ending up in Taiwan then yes he is doing work

I think this draft is ripe for trades..

One that I have seen a lot is Jennings for Drummond. Especially if he falls to the Hornets at 10...

Can't see Drummond dropping that far. Bucks do need a big man though, Udoh is really a 4. But then you can't run with Monta as PG

I don't know Monta at the point isn't the end of the world...

It'd be hilarious if we traded down just to pick up Marshall and Barnes.

I'd swallow a shotgun

Lakers trade Pau to Houston and get Scola and the 14 th and take PJ III the return of LO

Is such a thingPossible? Yes!

I was looking at some old college stats of lottery picks and came across Randy Foye's.

This guy played 4 years of college ball and shot 41% from the field his final year. Didn't particularly shoot the 3-ball well either at 35%. He was a undersized 2-guard. His projection should have been seen a mile away.

DX now has the Wolves taking Terrence Ross. I think I'd be alright with this.

Not if Mavs can get him first! I hope they don't get Perry Jones just off the stuff I read. Sounds like someone everybody here will hate. Ross sounds like a safe pick from reading this thread.

Yeah, shooting guard is a huge need for the Mavs aside from center.

Does Beal actually shoot like Ray Allen? I keep hearing the comparisons, but his FG% is way lower than what Ray Allen had in college.

He was a better shooter in HS, but a lot of the Ray comparisons are because the form on his jumper is picture perfect, he's got one of those releases that it looks like the ball should always go in.

SportsIllustrated is reporting that according to John Reid of the Times Picayune (New Orleans main newspaper), the Hornets are "seriously considering" taking Rivers #10.

Rivers has gotten a promise from a late lottery team (#10 is late), he's had a lot of contact lately to the Hornets (some through workouts, some through Doc).

You guys are getting the former college coach and Lakers assistant with the thick hair Quinn Snyder?

Wha?????

Does that mean they might not re-sign Gordon?

I don't know what they're thinking but they are going to match any offer for Gordon.

I think Gordon knows that too considering he's been on a role lately saying he likes new Orleans, loves Monty Williams and has been seen around town hanging with Anthony Davis and Williams.

Which is why this perplexes me. He's not a point guard and we already have a SG that is going to be on the floor a majority of the minutes.

Wtf is it with GMs and their fascination with undersized shooting guards who possess no discernible basketball skills at that position?

At least Rivers isn't pretending to be a PG, I suppose.

In Rivers defense, he's not undersized for SG, measured 6"5 in shoes and 203lbs.

I would think they'd take Damian Lillard if he's there, I don't see Greivis Vasquez as a starting PG, and Jarret Jack is a little long in the tooth for such a young team.

Rivers at 10 makes no sense though.

I dont I know but I feel like with a healthy Gordon and a healthy team were not picking this high the next couple years so Demps better not fuck up this tenth pick. I don't mind gambling on a high upside guy but not taking a guy at a position we already have completely filled.

We have Gordon, Henry and Belinilli will come back for cheap and both aminu and ariza can split time at that position so why waste a pick on this guy when we have so many other needs?

Me and Ryu mentioned at the beginning of the season how Snyder looked zoned out and more concerned about the next re-up than he does about on the court action.

He looks like an 80's business man, like Pat Riley in LA. he just needs his "guarantee" moment that Pat had.

"I feel grateful to be apart of the team, I feel grateful to be alive and living in North Carolina and I'm guaranteeing everyone here; next year we're gonna win it again." Of course that'll be in reference to the lottery and not the NBA championship, but you get the point.

Snyder's a hell of a coach.

Seriously, I think he really is a good coach, and had he not been such an awful cheater he'd probably be at one of the big programs now.

As far as Ferry goes, you'll have to blame his dad for being a shitty GM, but I always understood he brought in the players Lebron wanted.

The reason they do it is because they don't think Gordon's knees are going to hold out, and don't want to be stuck in the portland position where they have a team build around a big and a SG, with no SG. So they're drafting the backup plan right now.

Thats really the only reason, otherwise it makes no sense what so ever.

But please draft rivers, means the suns can't!

That really is the only logical conclusion to draw, but I still think its a wasted pick, the guy will get like ten minutes a night.

Just from the scouting video's i like him and waiters.

I'm really happy that this draft were getting some fresh SG's in the game.

You best hope the rumor about the Suns promising Waiters is true if you don't want Rivers. It's funny how much I anticipate drafts when I don't watch college ball. It sucks not having my own evaluation of players, especially because the internet is full of conflicting opinions. Not to mention people are wrong about players every year anyway.

shit I watch a lot of players and a lot of times they just don't translate well..

Joe Smith and Camby (Camby had a decent career and all that but still) were locks for greatness...

Joe Smith moreso than Camby and Camby had the better career...

I think Darius Miller moved himself into the first round with his workouts. The only real question about him was if he was athletic enough to play the 3 at the next level, and the numbers suggest he is.

Even then I think he will be one of the steals of the draft. He is one of the most offensively skilled players I have ever seen, from basically ever area of the court. Post ups, floaters in the lane, midrange jumpers, and the three which is probably his weakest element, but is still pretty damn good.

The only thing you can say negative about him is that he has the mindset of a roleplayer and doesn't want to be a star, which IMO will be a huge positive for a team that drafts him in the late first round.

Yeah, impossible to get them all right. I didn't read comments about draftees back when Camby entered the league so I don't have an idea of how hyped he was coming in versus how he ended up. I just know I wouldn't have minded him on my team...

Joe wasn't mentally ready for the NBA. Came into the pros and wanted to shoot jumpers instead of what made him #1
