I don't think Bennett's confidence can get worse right now so playing himself into shape in the D-League is a better option than fighting obesity during DNPs.

A few other things:

-The Cavs obviously don't care about media/fan response or tradition considering their recent, shocking draft picks to go along with signing Bynum. And comic sans.

-Chris Grant will be fired if the Cavs don't make the playoffs and the Cavs have a better chance at the playoffs if Bennett never plays, therefore it makes more sense for Grant to support sending Bennett to the D-League. And Grant is the one that will get the bulk of the criticism so if it's even in his best interest...

I thought he outplayed Kuzmic during the preseason. Hopefully he gives us some productive minutes.

As long as they don't want him to do anything on offense he'll be fine. I still think Kuzmic is the better long term prospect since he has some nice moves offensively.

Danny Green was terrible his first few years in the NBA. Brown kept him on the roster, San Antonio was the team who waived him multiple times and sent him to the D-League. Obviously he got better but blaming Brown for not developing a terrible player in the one year he spent with him into his current role player status is dumb.

JJ Hickson only had two years under Brown, not everyone comes into the league and develops into a superstar right away, especially on a contending team. He hasn't really improved since his 3rd year and is nothing more than a role player.

Shannon Brown bounced around 5 NBA teams in 7 years and has been sent to the D-League on 3 separate occasions by different organizations.

Brown straight up wasted Hickson. I mean he wasn't very good at the time but it's no surprise he became a serviceable bench big once he left.

The number of teams a guy plays for doesn't really mean shit in this argument. Shannon Brown got nothing in Cleveland and didn't understand how to impact a game until he got to LA, same thing with Green in San Antonio.

Brown has been given weak draft sections but he made them worse by not developing them. Middling type guys will never reach 'solid nba role player' status under Brown.

With all the top picks cavs got post Lebron, they should be a playoff team by now. Yet they only manage to get 1 or 2 guys that you could say is a legit NBA starter. And the guys they missed out on too were pretty obvious to be better than the guy they picked even before draft and not in hindsight.
They just cannot send bennett's ass to d league.. Bennett probably deserves it tho.
