Not really seeing many posts like that. I bet you'll see a ton more of those in favor of Last of Us actually before this thread has run its course.

Agreed completely. GTAV winning over TLOU is a tragedy.

I wonder if Naughty Dog designers gets freaked out by how people put them on the skyscraper pedestal.
Most posts say TLoU "deserves it" or "should win".
I haven't seen many posts saying that about GTA.
Don't worry, The Last of Us will probably win GAF's GOTY.
Something I'll never understand is the instant vitriol that happens when one popular, really well made game beats out another really popular, well made game. GTA V sold well, The Last of Us sold well, there isn't anything at stake for either developer at this point. Getting GOTY is a cherry on top, a simple pat on the back and a "congratulations".
Metal Gear Rising will be my GOTY, I'm not going to climb onto roof tops and scream at people passing by that Platinum Games was robbed and how the industry is totally fucked when MGR doesn't get any GOTY awards.

So much downgrading/underappreciation for gta 5 here. It's not like it's call of duty or anything. If the majority enjoys one game more than another, then I don't understand why it's a "tragedy" lol.

Why are you including readers choice awards? This is 2013's GOTY from the the media. I also think it's the OP's prerogative to seek out this stuff, instead of posting sites willy nilly.
Well it's still a lot even if you exclude reader's choice.
I'm sure the OP would hate others posting links to GOTY awards, especially when he said this: "If you find a new GOTY, please post in this thread. Thanks!"
Didn't see that in the OP when I first read it, my mistake on that. Still though, you shouldn't post readers GOTY, as the title clearly states this is based on the media's GOTY.
So why not to post ALL the awards from the GOTY blog instead of just the ones in favor of TLOU?

It's a tough choice but I think in the end GTA deserves it. The Last of Us was a nice surprise for me, it kept me on the edge of my seat for the week or so it took me to play through the story, but that was it. GTA V's story was no TLOU, but I'm still playing and will continue playing for the next few years as I have with every GTA. It is a massive, impressive and beautiful game that does most things right, some others could be better but most of it felt just right.

GTA 5 is the most critically acclaimed game of the year (by review scores), it's also the best selling game of the year by far, how often does this happen. Of course it should be game of the year

Out of the "mainstream" games that could win GotY(Because all my favorite games were on 3DS/WiiU and will be ignored), I'd go with Rising. What a good game.

Really glad to see Rising got at least one GOTY pick - it's mine as well.
I think it's a potential tie breaker actually if the universal coverage sites are split 50/50, because Xbox sites would naturally have it factored out.

what a disappointing year it was.
Terrific year for me. Haven't even played MGR, Tearaway, Batman, Zelda or Mario.
Going for what I know of spanish, the last one from that list, whatever site that is, is not even a dedicated article for a GOTY, it's just a... list, a list with some of the worst writing I've ever read, regardless of the language, in my whole life, at least coming from a "journalist", I write better in spanish and it's not even my first language, in fact, I highly doubt it comes from an actual journalist.
Guys, if we're gonna start taking no-name sites like that into account.. Man is this pointless...
