2013 NBA Finals |OT| The "Big 3" looks to hang another banner... against the Heat

Still think Miami pulls this out, but Wade has to be like he was in game 7 a few times this series for it to happen.

Have no real read on the series because I don't know which version of him shows up.

It took Miami 6 games to double the post. I wonder how long it'll take them to figure out the most complex offensive system in the league.

One of my biggest worries is who the fuck is gonna guard Bron if Kawhi is in foul trouble?

Kawhis got to be careful. Hes gonna have to play 45+ a night

Leonard in foul trouble would be pretty disastrous.

There's no backup SF other than TMAC (lol) on the roster and neither Manu or Green can defend him.

Doesn't really matter who guards Bron. We all saw how well Indy defended him and he got his numbers anyway.

Worst case scenario is instead of averaging 30, 8, and 8 he averages 40, 10, and 10, either way you win the series by stopping his teammates.

Can't believe the big day is finally here.

I'll be rooting for Tim Duncan almost as hard as I've ever rooted for my own team. It feels dirty, but the alternative is too awful to even consider.

I'm not going to get uppity about it, because I want the Spurs to win, but they totally tanked to build their big 3. Duncan wasn't coming their way if they played to win each night that season. Not that they should be blamed, seems that most teams do it when they're near the bottom.

Are you saying that they started from the bottom, now they here?

I'd just hate for it to happen. I don't see a viable solution among our roster other than Kawhi.

Besides, I want to keep Danny on Wade. I think thats the real underrated matchup in this series. Danny Green is a phenomenal defender. Its rare to say this about all-stars, but I think Danny is good enough to shut down Wade full-stop. Call me crazy but theres a chance he'll straight up out perform Wade many nights, what with the random 3s Wade gives up when he sags off or is lazy in transition.

That is really distressing. Although, that could set up some hilarious switches. Bonner/Neal on Lebron for any amount of time would terrify me but also make me laugh my ass off as a basketball fan.

I don't think the Spurs are going to really worry about LeBron getting his

As they saw if you shut down everybody else people start playing like shit on both ends and then the Heat have to rely on LeBron bail out

They don't want LeBron in the double digit assist range

At work and won't get home till 10.

Any word if Battier is back in the lineup or has Mike Miller taken his spot for good?

I think Battier and Bosh both play better this round than last. If I am Spo I go back to my regular rotation but keep a very short leash on guys like Allen and Battier.

I agree with this actually. I think they will be happy with Lebron getting 40-50 if gimp Bosh and Wade stink up the joint

he;s been humbled by the turd sandwhich. I'm guessing he's back. Hopefully he plays as well as he did in the last Finals.

while I agree, since that's the only way to have a chance to beat Miami, if it's not Leonard on Lebron, I have a hard time seeing Lebron not destroy them.

While the gist of your post makes sense. Miami didn't double the post from the beginning of the series because that would give Indiana time to adjust.

Every team has surprise tactics that they don't break out unless their backs are against the wall or late in the series. That was clearly Miami's.

While the players are obviously totally different, this was the strategy against the Nash/Amare Suns that worked very well. Turn Nash into a scorer instead of a passer and single cover Amare most of the time to completely disrupt their normal offensive flow. I'm excited to see what the Spurs defensive gameplan is.

Probably my two biggest fears are turnovers and the Heat guards running the Spurs off the 3 point line. Manu and even Tony can get turnover prone on aggressive PnR defense (a Heat specialty). Live ball turnovers against Miami are gift-wrapped points.

Well, it's really easy to defend one knee.

Wade is done for the postseason. If they can contain Bosh (and it's not like he's playing lights-out right now) then they can focus on Lebron and keep him out of the paint, forcing him to take jumpers and not letting their other shooters have any space for the 3 ball.

Never double, ever. Even if Lebron posts up. Play solid man to man. Stay at home on the shooters. Let Timmy play free safety in the paint. Go under ever single Lebron James screen and let him keep to his promise and shoot. If he hits a few, blitzkreig him and get the ball out of his hands, but never try to fight through the screen as you give Lebron a wide open driving lane with a full head of steam.

Pretty much you only have to do three things:

1) Adjust your PnR defense to make sure Lebron doesn't have wide open lanes to the basket at full speed (trap or go under)

2)Stay at home on the 3 point threats

3)Sag off Wade and let him chuck

Surprise tactics cannot be a thing.

I'd rather root for the team led by a Whiskey drinking maniac than a team that let's a guy that beats off to kiddie porn play on their team.

Also, that's a really smart move to say Duncan is the generations best.

You beat him, it ups your standing. You lose it doesn't look as bad.

Saying "Duncan is third behind Kobe and Shaq" just gives the Spurs more fuel, beating him doesn't mean as much, losing to him invites ideas that you're behind Kobe and Shaq.

Smart PR and mind game move.

Eh

Its Dwyane Wade ffs. He'd be a threat in crutches. And tbh, hes looked pretty fucking athletic at times. He might not be 100% (who knows), but we'll need the best from Danny.

Probably my two biggest fears are turnovers and the Heat guards running the Spurs off the 3 point line.

Not worried about either of those honestly. Well, I'm worried about turnovers game 1 since those are likely with the rust and all, but beyond that we're pretty disciplined. We're gonna do a lot better than Indiana in that respect. A lot better.

And you can't just run our guys off the 3 pt line....our offense works for a reason. I'm much more worried about missing the opportunities we're going to get (cause we'll get them) and cowering under the limelight (considering our role players' age) than anything else.

As inconsistent as they've been, its hard not to be confident that proven players like Shane Battier, Mike Miller, and Ray Allen will make their 3s. Our guys (Kawhi, Green, Bonner, etc) have been better all postseason long, but they're not as seasoned...if their shooting goes, like it did in the WCF last year, we're fucked

How come there's no talk of Leonard on Wade? Cause it's not like Green is that short either to deal with LeBron. Besides, neither of them can physically deal with LeBron's bulk...so why not ensure Wade's misery by sticking 7'3 wingspan on him?

I don't think you have to worry about being chased off the 3 point line. Spurs offense uses lots of offball screens to free up ball screeners and open up the lane for parker. Once the defense collapses there's usually an open man on the wing and I don't see the spurs missing a lot of open 3s. It's not like the heat have a ton of height in the middle to contest parker's drives.

Because we're pretty sure Green will do that just fine lol

Its rare to find a player so built to defend another as Danny Green on Dwyane Wade
