NBDL should be a proper farm system though instead of the half-hearted effort it is right now.

I've always liked that idea as well but the requirements to do it imo always make it unlikely. Though who knows with silver's taking the rein soon this could be his thing to put his stamp on the league

To do that I think they would have to have at least every team buy (or the nba buys for them) a specific D league team affiliate for them to exclusively to put their players on.

Then they would likely have to make it that if a player is on the D league they wouldn't count as a roster spot (some time, vet exp, or total amount limitations would need to be involved) so that teams could store players there to be developed and not hinder themselves total roster wise

Lastly if they done that they might as well add a third round since it would allow teams to sign kids with high potential and raw contracts to a specific type of contract (likely full of team options) so they have no problem putting them on a long development cycle due to the limitation of the liability to the team.
