Complete bs being spewed right here. There are far worst player in the league such as douglass and novak. novak is not even close to barg. Barg is great on offense and can score from multiple places. He will give more space for melo as well.
Barg is great on offense based on what? His career below average Efg% and TS%? His 103 Orating? His below average OWS/48? His terrible Oreb rate? The fact that he has nearly 200 more turnovers in his career than assists?
Let's say when healthy he's at best a below average offensive player. On the flip side he is the worst rebounder in the NBA when you factor in height. That might not be as big a deal if he was a 6'3 PG but he's fucking 7 feet. You cannot have a 7 footer rebound historically awful. To make matters worse he's the worst help defender in the NBA, yes worse than Lee and Amar'e. I know Knicks fans have watched Lee and Amar'e and assume it cannot get worse. Oh what a surprise is in store for you. Bargs has his head turned the wrong way on half of the plays. On the plays he does see what's happening, he just gives up and stands still. At least Amar'e occasionally comes over for the block and lee at least goes over for the rebound, Bargnani will just smile and do nothing else.
During Bargs arguably best offensive year, the Raptors were slightly better on offense when he played (and Bosh was on the team playing alongside him). Oh, but their defense was historically awful compared to just below average when he was on the bench.
So yes, when you have a 7 footer who is both the worst defender and rebounder among bigs in the NBA and doesn't even score at average efficiency, he is the worst player in the NBA. A guy like Monta Ellis who is basically the same is at least short and can rely on others to cover for him at times. Bargs is that cover and he is the worst.
Now, guys like Beasley and Rivers and Wes Johnson may be worse. But at least they aren't making $10 million.
