As of now it's Millsap > Favors > Jefferson >> Kanter (with possibly more >s available between Millsap and Favors depending on your view of RAPM) so I guess that opinion is true as of right now, but Jefferson was a horrible defensive player in Utah (he's better in Charlotte but his offense has tanked there as well...) who didn't look like a player that could be built around. Regardless of the player quality, the team needed to figure out how good the young players were and a high variance season (if the young players are great, we'll be good and contend. If they're not, we'll suck and get a top pick) was the best idea for the franchise after a few seasons going nowhere. Dropping Millsap and Jefferson was a "Either way, we're fixed for life" strategy and therefore one that makes sense, but I think Millsap-Favors would have been the best big man combo we could have had.
