Against the Top 12 teams in the NBA (by record, who are all .600 or above), we are:It's going to be interesting if Harden can keep up with great performances or if all the weight being on his shoulder allows teams to just focus on him (as they should). That's what worries me.
Also why I would be surprised if we finished top 5. 6-7 seed I think.
- 8-12 (.400) overall
- 2-9 (.182) when Harden shoots below 45% from the field
- 3-10 (.300) when he attempts less than 7 free throws
- 4-9 (.308) when he has less than 7 assists
- 3-6 (.333) when has less than 21 points
With those four conditions (<45% FG%, <7 AST, <7 FTAs, <21 points), we are:
- 0-3 (.000) when all 4 are met (Chicago, Golden State, Memphis)
- 0-3 (.000) when 3 are met (Atlanta, Clippers twice)
- 4-3 (.571)* when 2 are met (Wins*: Dallas twice, San Antonio, Memphis Losses: Golden State twice, Washington)
- 2-3 (.400) when 1 is met (Wins: Cleveland, Memphis Losses: Golden State, Portland and San Antonio)
- 2-0 (1.00) when 0 are met (Portland and Memphis)
Harden's level of play lets us beat the teams we should (for the most part), but against the very good teams, he can't do it on his own. With Howard, we're somehow slightly worse at 4-7 (.364). I could have saved a lot of time if I just looked at our wins.
In that group, we've beaten: A Dunleavy-less Chicago, A LeBron-less Cleveland, Portland missing Aldridge and Lopez, San Antonio missing Duncan and Ginobli, Dallas, and Memphis twice (once without Randolph, and the other our best win of the season).
If Morey doesn't do anything significant by the deadline, our only hope of doing anything in the playoffs is by getting a matchup against Dallas (and even then, they're a different team during the playoffs). The Brewer addition was nice, but I really hope he's got something else brewing.
