The only ones that don't graduate at Kentucky are the superstars they recruit every year. Otherwise they graduate. And a few of their recent one and dones have been academic all-sec guys while in school.

Agreed, the moralizing is ridiculous. Players are going the routes that are available to them to keep playing as long as possible and at the highest level possible. Nothing wrong with that all.

Its mind blowing sometimes. I get shit from IU fans all the time about how they've got student athletes compared to UK.
But when Oladipo and Zeller leave early and go pro...nothing but fucking crickets chirping.

I've noticed a trend. Anytime someone says "Fuck You" directed at another GAFer regardless of context gets the axe. personal attacks seem to be zero tolerance. I can understand Seth's passion for his team, but if he would have laid off the Fuck You's, he probably would still be posting.

They did nothing wrong, they're just products of a system that is exploiting their talent to squeeze every last dollar they can out of them. The majority of students probably perform well in class, but what about that one school that gives those fake classes to students that can barely say their names? (I'm exaggerating a bit, but bear with me) They only do it to keep them on the court, to grow their brand and egos, and to sell tickets and merchandise, with the false pretext of a "quality education" to justify their extortionist ways. The only reason they're trying to keep this facade up is because fairly compensating athletes based on their open market value would severely cut into the NCAA's revenue. We all know that they would let an academic failing slide, but when you mess with their wallets, expect them to fight to the death.
I feel bad for the players, they don't know any better, but the system is so ingrained, it's not surprising it's only taken until now to finally get some reforms in here.
All the blue bloods do it, its the system thats in place, and its one that has worked for Cal. He didn't make the rule, and he'd probably like to have these kids for 2 years or more. It is what it is. Moralizing over college sports is no win.
Poythress is hurt. That sucks for him.
I understand it, its unfortunate for him, but the f bombs at others are unnecessary as well.

I don't know if people hate UK, or hate Cal because he is portrayed as a huckster. Compare it to us, where"Duke sucks" jokes are made on Glee and Jimmy Fallon and other non sport media outlets, it gets tiring. The cynic in me thinks that if a VT style shootout ever happened on Duke's campus, there would be several jokes about the basketball team being killed

Damn. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand Duke, but that shit wouldn't be funny in the least. It's just too often that UK fan acts like Cal doesn't have a history and as long as he brings titles all is forgiven (for however long those banners hang). See Buckeye-fan and Tressel (it's all Pryor's fault, right?).

Yeah, a guy I used to work with told me with a straight face that Cal doesn't need to cheat at UK, because every top player In the country grows up wanting to play there.

As far as the NCAA is concerned, he doesn't have a history.
He had nothing to do with Camby taking money from an agent, and whatever went on with Rose's SAT(which was never definitively proven either way) happened before he even got to Memphis.
Cal has 0 NCAA violations on his record, recruiting or otherwise.

Jabari Parker seems to be leaning towards staying at Duke.
Duke is also getting the #1 and #3 high school prospects. They will be unreal next year.

Not really, but I would say the recruiting class is mostly focused in an area we should already be strong next year. We are going to have so many guys in the frontcourt, I don't know how we will make it work. I imagine one of the bigs is going to see a lot of time at the 3.

This is true but Cal always, always ends up stepping on his own dick somehow. Even if its something as simple as stating how his players don't need to know how to shoot free throws and then proceeding to lose the championship game on free throws. I see the heartbreak possibly coming where UCONN doesn't allow Henderson that final shot or they just end up missing it.

Why should his history matter, though? The past is the past. All that matters are his actions at UK, and what's he's done at that program. If he's been clean since he got to UK, why should a UK fan be apologizing for stuff at UMass and Memphis?

Inexplicable defense by Gasser on Aaron Harrison. The worst thing that should happen is you go to overtime. Absolutely idiotic defense there to not make that kid drive by you. He hit the two biggest 3s against Louisville and Michigan. It's not rocket science. Unreal that he could be so dumb to give that shot up.

Michigan was the number one offensive team in the country, they run great great stuff, get so many open looks for their shooters.
Wisconsin as number 3 in the country. They are loaded with 3 pt shooters like Michigan, just not quite as much size at the guard level as Michigan.
They were easily two of the prettiest looking offenses this yr for anyone that actually watched games.
But......garhlhagigdilgdd B1G is slow sdjfldjfjdljdljj Wisconsin is slow sdlfjdlfjdljflj. Idiots.
Last yr, IU was no. 3 in offense, Michigan no. 1.
Evidently it's too much to ask people giving their expert opinion on college basketball to actually know what they're talking about. If you want a rock fight B1G offensive team this yr.......you had Ohio St. That team was all perimeter D. They were tough to watch offensively some nights this season.
But Wisconsin? Cmon. They've been offensively dynamite all season outside of their 5 game losing streak early B!G.

I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to get mad about. Players love Cal, former and present, he does a lot work in the community around UK, and was found innocent at UMass and Memphis.
In an age where coaches get run out for telephone calls and impermissible cookouts, this idea that Cal is running some massive scam at UK and paying all his players, while still managing to evade the NCAA, is a total joke to me.
(Not saying you're suggesting that, but I see people say that a lot online)
This is inaccurate. The issue is that there is simply no time for practicing free throws in the NCAA allowed practice time, if you want to put in your offense and defense.
Besides his teams have basically been within a percentage point or two of average every year. Losing one championship on missed free throws doesn't really mean that is indicative of some deep flaw in his coaching.

I didnt say i was a flaw in his coaching, i merely pointed out where something he has said or done has bit him in the ass. A flaw would be if he relied on Henderson to win on a a game winning 3. We all know that he isn't that bad of a coach. Everyone isn't out to lambast Coach Cal.

dude hit a contested (yeah he was slighly late but w/e) shot damn near standing out of bounds. you tip your cap to the offensive player there.

The only time you need to guard a Harrison taking a jumper is the final seconds of the game. I mean come on.
Given the time and the score differential, you can't allow a team to get off any 3 point attempt in that moment. That is the one thing you can't do.
I don't blame the player though, that was their defensive gameplan the entire game.
Also I'm not sure letting him have the shot was a bad thing by the numbers either, depending on how you felt you would do in OT.
Basically even a completely wide open 3 is at best a 40% chance for Kentucky to win it, but if they drove it, they would've probably had at least a 60% chance to tie it given the way they had been playing inside all game long.
At some point you play the numbers and if they don't come up your way, you did the best you could.

I am LOVING this tournament. Every game Kentucky is in is gold. Just an incredible run. Aaron Harrison has cemented his legendary NCAA tournament status. Clutch game-winning shots for three games in a row? Damn.
I've been pulling for Kentucky from pretty much the beginning, with a toss-up because I had Louisville winning my bracket.
UConn beating Gata was pretty fantastic too. Looking forward to UK dominating UConn.
