Eh, I prefer a team of seniors to a team of freshmen any day of the week. This increasing trend of one-and-dones I think is ultimately bad for college basketball. Oh well, though, that ship has sailed.
I dunno, this UK team has given the tournament four incredible games. Don't think it really matters how old players are if they're playing good basketball. Especially if it's as exciting as it's been this year.

Though NCSU's 6 seed is hard to compare to UConn's 7 or Villanova's and Kentucky's 8 as the latter three were in the 64 team tournament, while '83 was 52.

NCSU and 'Nova are still two of the biggest upsets ever. Do you realize how stacked Houston was in '83? Hakeem and Clyde. And 'Nova against Ewing. UK w/ 1st round draft picks as an 8 seed. Not quite the same.

This team of freshman had 4 turnovers that entire game.

They played solid fundamental basketball and executed down the stretch when it matters.

What more could a team of seniors do?

It's funny because Kentucky doesn't even run an offense and it's just a bunch of hot talented recruits making just enough shots to win and it must be downright excruciating to watch for a lot of people.

It's pretty awesome.

talented freshmen kicking unathletic senior stiffs in the ass is far more entertaining

Agreed, if only those talented freshmen would stay in school for more than a year. I'd much rather see talented seniors that work together great as a team beat a bunch of talented freshmen though.

On the real .... wtf is drake doing there in the locker room... Some recruits are picking Kentucky now they have that celebrity pull

That's just not true. I mean, I get what you're saying but we run an offense. And you know how I know? Because our offense has been different every single season. We play the way we do this year because of the personnel we have, and Calcwill get precisely zero credit for that.

I just hope that's not a violation of some sort.

It isn't. Drake was at our midnight madness a couple years back. Jay Z got fined a couple years ago but only because he is an NBA owner and that was a violation for him.

But we have no recruits in the locker room so it isn't a violation on us. I was just teasing.

He's been a UK fan for years (not exactly sure why if I'm being honest).

Jay-Z was in our locker room when we went to the final four a few years ago also.

I get why people don't like one and dones, but what is college for other than to get you going into a career? Is being a first round pick with a guaranteed contract not good enough? If one of these guys gets hurt they get nothing. You have high school guys drafted in baseball and you get 18 year olds drafted in hockey all the time. I don't see how it's any different.

Oh, I don't have a problem with this particular team, and I'll be rooting for them in the finals. They have played a fine tournament. Just in general I'm not a huge fan of the trend for one-and-done.

And, yeah, UK winning won't be nearly the upset, nor would UConn, as both are lower seeds.

I got grudge sucked!
I just hope that's not a violation of some sort.

Drake's been photo'd with UK several times over the past 5 years, if it is a violation, the NCAA has seen the evidence and doesn't care.

EDIT: Funny thing though, Duke Football would open every home pregame warm up with "Started from the Bottom" and they won 10 games for the first time in school history this year. Maybe Drake has magical Canadian powers

i don't know about anyone else but my virulent hatred of kentucky isn't because of one-and-dones in a general sense

it's because of john calipari

Julius Randle failed to get a double double for the first time in the tournament. We only hit two 3s. We still won. Praise Jebus, Odin, Ra, or whoever is watching over us.

The NCAA not caring about possible violations at UK???? Why, I never!!

Surely, you jest. If it was a violation we would be hanged for it. I promise.

In an ideal world the NBA would have a farm system like MLB and NHL, and really talented players would go straight from high school into that if they aren't interested in college. That would leave college for slightly lower tier talent and late bloomers (like NCSU's Tom Gugliotta back in the day) to earn their way on to NBA teams. I just really miss having players stick around for a few years and you could really grow attached to players and there was a sense of continuity as various players came in, became mentors, then passed the torch.

Jesus, what a shitty championship game. Hate both teams, gonna be unsatisfied no matter who wins.

It's either Calipari and his "student" Athletes, or freaking UConn. 2013-2014 has been horrible for me basketball wise.

Well we're only losing Brust. I just hope we can another run like this next year. Should of pulled this one out. Gasser messed up by giving him space.

If only the reverse worked -- being celibate for a week leading to wins. Since I'm married twenty years, NCSU would have a UCLA-level dynasty going by now!

I know a few Cleveland sports fans that would kill to have the reverse be true

You know what? Fuck you. UCONN is the team that is one year removed from a post season ban because their "student athletes" don't go to class, fail out of school, and don't graduate even after going to school four years. So yeah, fuck you. Fuck you. Take your uneducated bias and fuck off. Then direct it at the team that BARELY stays eligible for post season okay because they don't graduate anyone.

so it's calipari and his "student" athletes vs. ollie and his "student" athletes

Guess what? On a 1000 point scale UCONN is eligible for post season play by THREE points.

This is totally fair. I don't mind it personally, but I understand what you're saying.

My problem is with some media who are obsessed with moralizing everything. That somehow freshmen aren't "doing it the right way" or don't enjoy playing. It's not their fault the NBA doesn't let them go straight to the league.

AT least for me, it was balanced by the best football season I'd witnessed ever (too bad we couldn't hold off A&M). And next year looks promising.

Yowza! Seth C bringing heat. I decided after the past few recruiting classes that K was going to do what he could to get the best players. Looking down my nose at Cal just made me look like an asshole. After all, I'm hoping for this same thing next year for Duke. Its going to be on the back of a couple of one n dones
and a special 2 and through
. I tip my hat to Cal, honestly, like him or not.

And Cal doesn't have a history?

The worst team in the history of NCAA with the worst coach to ever disgrace the hardwood has another chance for a title. Please UConn win. Send those morons playing at Kentucky to the NBA empty handed.

Both programs are dirty as fuck. But if it makes you feel better that UK might be slightly cleaner than that program that still has Calhoun stink all over it....by all means...be happy.

^^

Especially when 4 year fuckups like Marshall Henderson constantly get their dick sucked by the media, it's absurd.

None of the one and done players so far have been anything but exemplary representatives of the university. Haven't seen any UK players get caught up in any nonsense off the court. They've all (with the exception of Daniel Orton) fulfilled their academic requirements for the time they were here.

What did these kids do that has everyone so upset?
