Only thing I will say in defense of Calipari is that until he is caught doing something at UK, no one can say he is cheating. If anything that guy is probably doing everything he can to avoid cheating because of the scrutiny he surely must be under.

The guy is a great facilitator of talent, he has proven he can take young people and get them to play together and better their chances at the next level. He probably doesn't even have to ask for most of the best recruits in the country.

PS. Yes I am a UK fan, and am fully prepared for this to change no one's opinion. lol

The thing is that i don't see how it is possible for stuff not to leak if something dirty is going on. Just look at UNC the last few years. Like every two weeks dirt is leaking out of there. There is no such thing as a secret anymore when you are that high profile.

The only thing since Cal has been at UK was Bledsoe's transcript being illegally leaked to the press. Not even a specific verifiable rumor or anything, just vague innuendo and mudslinging.

The reason I hate Calipari is he always tries to act like the victim. He kept complaining during the season to media about how hard it is for freshmen to work together as if to be an excuse for if they fail. He's the one that recruited arguably the best recruitment class of all time and he acts like it's a struggle he didn't prepare for.

I get why this annoys people, but I've never felt that he wants pity for himself. My take has always been that it's more about trying to protect his players and deflate some of the hype. So if they come out and aren't as great as the media said they would be, people don't go totally nuts. Sometimes he doesn't have to, like in 2010 or the title team in 2012, but other times it takes freshmen a while to really get comfortable with the college game (2011 and this year).

I also think the letdown of last year has brought out more of that than usual. We had a great recruiting class last year and were ranked in the top 5 preseason, yet we all know how that team turned out.

I always take those "complaints" as he is publicly challenging his players, and he wants to create a bit of a bunker mentality. If you listen to his show he likes to be completely open about his team, and that includes talking about his frustration with certain players and/or the entire team. It's unorthodox, but it is obviously effective in motivating his players.

Yeah, he challenged James Young at the presser last week after the Michigan game. Just straight up said he wasn't playing up to his potential. And then tonight the kid leads us in scoring, grabs 5 boards, 2 steals, and goes 6 for 7 at the line.

Losing to an 8 seed and blowing the chance to face a 7 seed for the national championship is the most Wisconsin thing ever.

Was watching the replay, damn that missed travel at the end would have loomed large if Wisconson won. That bank at the end was just a few inches on the backboard from angling in, too.

Man this loss still stings. We were so close and it was very winnable. Too many stupid turnovers int he second half. Gasser not playing up on Harrison. I hope they learn from this year and become stronger next year.

Ball doesn't lie.

Most of the time.

UConn-GAF! A few buddies and I are looking to make the trip down to Storrs to watch the game and partake in any win/loss festivities. How hard will it be to get on campus during/after the game? Also, whats the best bar near campus to check the game out?

Almost time. I'm nervous, this team is playing too crazy right now for me not to be. I can't handle another Harrison 3 tonight

Im trying really hard not to let the nerves get to me

For one of the first times in my life, Ive went into every game saying "we are going to win"

...and actually believing it, Im a closet pessimist, but this team, I believe in them.

2012 nonwithstanding because they were so dominant, I knew they would win

My facebook feed is going crazy right now in anticipation, since I went to UConn there's a ton of fans. I care most about discounts at local food places if we win, but should still be fun.

:lol nah forreal. Don't get me wrong, my stomach already hurts from nerves. I want to win. But I'm happy with this season already. Would have never expected a title game run this year before a few weeks ago.
True. Yeah I'm not going to be devastated but a loss would bother me for a while. Not anything crazy, but just eat at me.
