Well, taking into account that ultra-weak Landeskog, the refs probably wanted let the Avs have somewhat of a chance to tie it up with the goalie out. Swallowing the whistle at that point was the best make-up they could provide.

If he dragged it along the ice (ie, along or behind the blue line) he would have been onside.

Expanded replay yes please. Even if it does slow the game down at times, the amount of games that are decided on horrible calls is unsettling.
