Umm, what exactly did I say that's wrong?
Yeah I read it. I gave an opinion, low-res textures in a 2D game and crushed blacks again.Rule 5 first page.

I don't think you're going to convince anyone with a functional pair of eyes that Ori and the Blind Forest is a bad looking game. Sorry.Yeah I read it. I gave an opinion, low-res textures in a 2D game and crushed blacks again.
Yeah, now you're putting words in my mouth.I don't think you're going to convince anyone with a functional pair of eyes that Ori and the Blind Forest is a bad looking game. Sorry.
Between you saying Playground didn't implement AF in Forza Horizon 2 (it has ~4x AF), saying that Xbox One -> PC game streaming will have a low bitrate , and you comparing a 1080p console title to a vita title it's pretty easy to see what your preferences are. You're hyper critical of pretty much anything Xbox related.Yeah, now you're putting words in my mouth.
Do you think this is closer to the console (and I mean PS3/360) or Vita version of Rayman Origins?Between you saying Playground didn't implement AF in Forza Horizon 2 (it has ~4x AF), saying that Xbox One -> PC game streaming will have a low bitrate , and you comparing a 1080p console title to a vita title it's pretty easy to see what your preferences are. That's all I'm going to say about it. I don't want to use any more space in this thread because it is intended for screenshot sharing.
It is a painting? Or a composite painting.
The low res art layers remind me of Rayman Origins on Vita.
Dear god no.

Are you referring to the background that's purposely being blurred?Do you think this is closer to the console (and I mean PS3/360) or Vita version of Rayman Origins?

A bunch of shadow detail looks squeezed down to complete black so there's a hard contour instead of smooth gradation. Maybe it was an artistic decision but it makes the night shots look kinda broken.Please... What do you mean by Crushed Blacks? Again?
No, the compression or low res of the textures. Are you referring to the background that's purposely being blurred?
Manual zooming's the Vita touchscreen pinch to zoom feature.Quite often the closeup foreground layers have a slightly low-res fuzzy or posterised appearance that doesn't look in keeping with the painted style so that may be improved in these new versions. I've checked the first level on PS3 and the WiiU demo and it's equally visible. Origins had the same imperfections on PS3 and to a much greater extent (even without manual zooming) PS Vita.
Background layers are affected a bit too but you really have to look for it unless there's a cutscene closeup (like Murphy slapping you to start the game), except on Vita and I assume 3DS.

I'd rather give the developers the benefit of the doubt especially when the platform has a history of dodgy gamma curve and crushed blacks, yes.Don't be coy, you meant to say that this game had crushed blacked due to the Xbox One didn't you? Well it doesn't, it is entirely the artistic direction. You may not think the game is beautiful, but you are shitting on something for no reason and trying to give technical reasons behind why you dislike it.

So this blotchiness is deliberate.I don't understand... Benefit of the doubt?
There aren't any crushed blacks. It's also not just available on the Xbox One. You can look at Steam screenshots and compare for yourself.
"Dear god no" was just you falsely assuming the Xbox One was making a beautiful dark scene darker than it should be.
"compression" makes no sense since the screens have no lossy compression. If you meant the actual art, where are you seeing artefacts?
Be a little more accurate with your criticism if you want, but throwing technical terms around you clearly have a lack of understanding of is being a jerk.

No, the compression or low res of the textures.
I even commented on this when the PS4 and Xbone versions of Legends were about to release, 14 months ago:
Manual zooming's the Vita touchscreen pinch to zoom feature.
What's wrong with you?
Shouldn't it have it if you have an account there?

I think you're the one being a jerk making accusations about my understanding of crushed blacks and image compression.

I hope I don't need to highlight some of the artefacts in that shot.
Is this a new thing for the 2015 thread? Graphics criticisms were never an issue in the past.Come on, this is a screenshot thread. Dont turn this into a graphical fidelity debate. Those almost neverend well. I prefer this thread to be about screenshots.
There are other places for intense debates....please?
You don't have to care, but of course it makes a difference to how beautiful it is.You could highlight all you want. It isn't going to make a difference of how beautiful and amazing Ori is.
Reminds me of the railing sections in Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

You need to go older! When I played Sunset Overdrive the railing stuff reminded me of Insomniac's first Ratchet &Clank grind railings!
So this blotchiness is deliberate.

Honestly the tonal range in the shot looks fine. Are you sure you're not just attributing any sample of absolute black to clipping issues? Wish I'm at my work station so i can fire up Photoshop to check the image's histogram.
Also doesn't the game incorporate motion blur effects? The game also seem to have defocused background and foreground elements which adds depth to the visuals.
