2016 PC Screenshot Thread of No Compromises

Two games on my list. Unfortunately unplayable for me. Arkham Knight constantly crashing for no apparent reason and Tales showing wrong button prompts for my Xbox One controller. I hate poor PC ports.

That looks really cool, like concept art.

However I barely recognized the area. It's too light, the Midnight Helix is meant to be dark and oppressive as hell. :)

But don't get me wrong, that's a cool screenshot nonetheless. Just my 2 cents.

I guess I just wanted to show off that sweet softness in ambient lighting that comes with ENB.
I agree, it's overdone a bit and AO is too strong.

Square did a great job with female designs/characters in the first game ,but they went ahead and undid that in the strange outfits in Lightning Returns and some of the DLC outfits in XIII-2.

Here you fight competently dressed female soldiers.Non of the main characters give to fan service either.Maybe vanille does ,but its nothing egregious.

Yeah it was weird when I tried out Lightning Returns - a lot of the outfits were at best mediocre while others were bordering on so-called 'fanservice'. Whereas FFXIII seemed more wide appeal, the later entries seemed to double down on a weird niche audience that I have difficulty relating to.

If you look closely you see that the puddles don't have realtime reflections, but cubemaps instead. SSR is activated only in the WW 1 sequence and in some other rare weather conditions in certain missions. This really is a shame since the WW 1 sequence looks noticeably better than the rest of the game. Every reflective surfare looks a lot better in the WW 1 sequence than in normal gameplay, I posted about this a while back with these examples. If you run around in normal mode and then in WW 1 you can clearly see the difference between the cubemaps and SSR.

Not just WW1. There are several missions in which you'll get SSR, although it's inconsistent. One mission has you assassinating a female templar in the tower of London - there are screen space reflections in that mission, but mostly for characters. Some of the puddles/wet surfaces do reflect the entire environment, but there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason behind which surfaces reflect characters and which surfaces reflect everything.

Still, it's an exciting advancement and I believe the first time in the series we've had "real" reflections, with the exception of ships in Black Flag. Reflections are one of the biggest and yet most subtle details missing from contemporary games, and I love when they're added in. Really makes everything feel that much more cohesive and responsive.

I'll post more later, just a quick and dirty shot I took after installing the fix.

One more with HUD showing...

I finally finished up the main story in Arkham Knight last night since I finally got the game installed on an SSD (man what a difference). The game looks absolutely amazing on PC, especially once you turn off the CA.

Yup, some other missions still have SSR but would have been amazing to have reflections enabled at all times, especially the Thames river's water, god damn it looks good in WW1 but looks like shiny plastic in normal gameplay.

Tried going down to 1440p and putting everything on the max resolution. It does take getting used to after playing on 4k for so long. But being to put everything on the max settings, including hairworks (plus KNG's grass mod) and still get +50fps is also kinda worth it.
