Wow. Amazing. Please post lots more shots

God damn this game's optimization is absolute gold. I can run it at 30+ fps on UltraWide 6K with everything maxed out, including 8X Temporal Supersampling AA on a single 980Ti O.O

Shame it can't go below 90 on the fov slider though.

Open console.

My performance definitely isn't taht good with my 980TI. But something seems screwy. Even at just 3440x1440 I get drops to 45 FPS in some places.

Anywho, I have timesstop now and am just working on a decent HUD toggle. Then no-clip and a way to hide the view model. Going to take some time...

Oh dang, thanks!
Take your time with all that timesstop, no-clip etc. good stuff :-)

Hm, maybe the game is more CPU dependent? Maybe a 6700K at 4,5GHz can squeeze noticeably more frames than 3770K at the same frequency in DOOM, doubt it is that though. Haven't seen any performance analysis' on the full release version of the game yet so we'll have to wait and see about that... I also haven't upgraded to the latest official DOOM drivers yet, I'm using 365.10

Why do you want lower?

It's kind of basic screenshot/photography knowledge but higher FOV values cause stretching in the image which can be seen in numerous shots posted here on a daily basis, including the DOOM shot I posted. Being able to and by using lower FOV values can help you get rid of that and it opens up a lot more freedom when arranging your shots.

Check this comparison for example, the image with FOV at 70 has stretching on objects close to the sides of the image, whereas on the one with FOV at 50 there's almost no stretching to be seen.
70 vs 50

Lower FOV is better for screencapping, less visible distortion that you'd find from higher FOVs. Almost but not totally analogous to 70-200mm lenses having a "flatter" picture versus 10-18mm.

Yeah, this. Capturing a scene at an FOV of 45 with the camera further back would look significantly better than capturing the same scene with the camera closer at an FOV of 90.

Does Doom have more environments that are hellish, occult landscapes? You know, like classic Doom with its hellfire, pentagrams, goat demon faces, etc.

That's always been my favourite aspect of Doom's art direction. Not so much the sterile looking "tech" backgrounds with crates and pipes and metallic walls.

Fair enough! And thanks.

I've been fairly curious about taking great shots, but so far mostly related to uh... DOA.

Got timestop and a hud toggle via cheat engine now. Free camera via Hattiwatti's tool. FoV via the console.

I also did no-clip but that's basically useless now unless you're using it to cheat :P
